i see the info i got about the changes in the boardroom was correct, also heard lawwell has told rodgers that the only chance of us signing paddy again will be a loan deal, and that no one of any real value will be signed until champions league qualification is secured.

30 May 2017 20:24:21
So basically it's the same as every year we won't sign anyone until champions league is secured and still won't once it is secured.

I hope you are wrong James.

Cant see rodgers having that tbh, got a few in last yr, hope its the same again.

Don't believe for one second that Rodgers will be told anything by Lawell.

Desmond may well dictate terms but Lawell wouldn't dare

Times have changed at Celtic.

We have less chance if qualifying with roberts talent not being in squad. We will have to sign someone of that ilk. Forrest won't cut it.

30 May 2017 22:01:34
James, what is the information you were correct about at boardroom level?

Agree1 Disagree2

30 May 2017 20:34:05
Exactly what's the point then. Just win the cup and league every year. If this is the board stance, well Mr big licks Lowell then Rodgers will not last. Period. His is to go down as a legend with Celtic. Why do they do this to us. Build us up come out saying how big Celtic is. Aye cos of us the support. We will never go far if this is the stance.

without giving away too much tony the guy who gives me the info is on the coaching staff, rodgers doesn't dictate to anyone kev lawwell calls the shots budget wise, rodgers admitted the other week he doesn't have a fortune to spend,

Why is it every time we are riding a wave, we seem to bottle it and want off. Could go back 30/ 40 years when we have had periods when we were doing well and a couple of quality additions would have took us from good to great. It seems with us, history does repeat it's self. If CL money is so important, why not do more to make it possible?

Agree3 Disagree0

31 May 2017 10:23:50
In the nicest way possible, this is bull! Rodgers has said on a few occasions that he wants to add 2/ 3 quality players and ideally before the CL kicks off! He wants time to bed signings in! Desmond was the reason we got Rodgers, and he will be the one who has final say-so regardless of Lawwell's position!

Agree4 Disagree2

31 May 2017 12:01:46
Totally agree NC. Times have changed at parkhead. Lawell won't be telling Rodgers anything. Rogers wouldn't stand for that again after having to put up with all that at Liverpool, he has mentioned on several occasions that he is in total control of all aspects of the football side of the club. He has also mentioned that if he needs to break the club's transfer record he will so there is funds available. I can see 3 or 4 quality players coming in depending on who leaves but there is no way Lawell or the board would risk upsetting the Apple cart.

The way I see it Dermot Desmond brought Brendan Rodgers to the club after last seasons debacle in the Scottish Cup where one of the worst performances in recent times, Celtic were beaten on penalties by a Sevco side flying high in the Championship. Dermot would have set up the initial meeting with Brendan Rodgers and his people and in that meeting a lot would have been discussed about what exactly both parties wanted out of the management team. Any going back on what was said then would almost inevitably see the working relationship dissolve. I can't see any signs of that just now, all I see is a very well run football club in all departments. It's very early days and the season is just finished so let's wait and see what happens over the next few weeks. After a break I'm sure the management will be working overtime to get the team in place for next season.
The reason you are not hearing anything coming out of CP is because we carry out our business in a quiet dignified way not a complete circus act like the shamsters down Govan way. We might be financially sound at the moment but there's no need to be reckless. If we get to the first qualifier without having new players in place, I would start getting concerned.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't be too concerned if there's no new faces for the first qualifiers, Rab as long as we haven't lost anyone i.e. Dembele.}

31 May 2017 12:38:14
Fair enough Ed, but by then we should have a few targets identified, even If we don't hear about them!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Definitely, Rab. There might not be any new signings by then - there probably will be though - but they will be in the pipeline.}

Can I just check that I'm picking this up correctly.
We have just gone a full season undefeated domestically, won the treble, had several players shortlisted for various awards, we are on one of the soundest financial footings of any (non sugar - daddy supported) club, we have made massive improvements to the stadium / surrounding area, provide charitable donations left right and centre, BUT. Peter Lawell. the person who navigated all the potential financial and legal minefields over the last few years, to finally get us here. that Peter Lawell, is a fool? Because of some UNSUBSTANTIATED RUMOURS?

Agree5 Disagree3

31 May 2017 15:26:01
Agree with Mac! Lawwell has been a shrewd operator over the last few years and we are seeing the results of this now - Brendan coming in and selling out STs and qualifying for Champs League was a massive boost too!

After an amazing season I don't see the need for any negativity. In Celtic, We Trust!

Rumours are always in the air, usually takes someone very gullible to believe them or to pass them on . It's inconceivable to believe anything said by Desmond or Lawwell to Rodgers or any other employee of note Celtic would be spread as a rumour . These people are so secretive about their role in transfers they wouldn't even tell the person they share a bed with.

I'm actually surprised some other super rich club hasn't lured lawwell away as he seems to know his stuff.

we are well run at all levels.

Just if I were Desmond/ Lawwell/ Rodgers - my next ambition would be to make sure we have a squad that can "easily" navigate all CL qualifiers every year. A squad of that quality should secure the championship and a trophy or 2.

From that good things come, £30m per year to the bottomline for starters, every year a few will leave, retire and we buy/ develop someone better.

We can't realistically think we can Qualify, Next Round (s) of CL just yet - if we are being honest. Perhaps a good run in the Europas.

If we get a very tough draw in qualifying we could realistically be out. That's football - at that level.

Lets see: PL: Brendan just so you know, even though your team which after sales was built out of profit from sales and sell on clauses etc. Even though you won a treble at the first time of asking, which is only our fourth in our history. As well as the clean sweep you managed to come through the whole season UNDEFEATED. Finally the same squad with a couple of additions has significantly increased in value and ability because of your inputs. The interest worldwide from the footballing world at your achievements, the improved attendances and overall position of the club as a whole.

YOUR NOT GETTING ANY MONEY TO TAKE US TO THE NEXT STAGE IN YOUR PROJECT UNLESS!
This sounds like a sevco dream that might be possible if you say it enough.

What we have is a better manager than the one Liverpool hired to nearly win the EPL! Exciting times ahead.

If he's on the coaching staff, he should sacked. Leaking tittle tattle is not our way. I don't believe DD would go back down this road again. False rumour if you ask me.

ED001 or ED002 can you give us any more information on Moussa Dembele, do you think he will move to Chelsea or rumours I heard that AC Milan are interested, will he still be a Celtic player come end of August.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is still looking for assurances over playing time, which Chelsea will not give him, so I very much doubt he will end up there. It would require him to compromise.

Both Milan clubs have shown interest, but both need to sell for FFP reasons, before they can spend. Less so AC Milan, who would also be more willing to give playing time assurances. However he is not first choice for them.}

30 May 2017 08:08:43
Sorry knocked submit before I was finished.

There is also interest from some other clubs in the English Prem. Arsenal might be one to watch, depending on who is in charge.

He seem squite content to sit tight for another season if the right move doesn't come along. I'd be delighted to keep him for one more year.

Any idea Ed if that clause is in his celtic contract (must play ) or is it just assurances the boy wants from other clubs?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is just what he wants to move to another club. Celtic gives him a platform to play and develop, he doesn't want to just throw that away for the chance to earn a big signing fee and wage.}

30 May 2017 10:11:43
Fair play to the boy then, refreshing to see a player put his career first than chase the dosh, rare in this day and age.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - exactly. Putting his career ahead of his fortune.}

Hi EDs have use heard any news on the Chelsea young boy we were linked with.

Dembele won't be going anywhere, unless Brendan Rodgers tells him he is no longer regarded as first choice striker .
That's unlikely to happen.
