apparently bellamy is pretty much certain to come on loan with celtic paying 1/3 of his wages. mcfc dont want him playing for a team who could hurt them ( i.e. liverpool, arsenal ) and will not sanction a contract settlement.

paul dixon rumour is garbage

still looking for left back but no names

Believable2 Unbelievable8

9 goals in 15 games last time he was with us, i dont see why people would hate to have him back.
i can see where celtic are coming from with this one, we need someone who has a proven track record to make sure we win the league this year and guarantee us at place at europes top table. i also agree that we should be looking at younger guys as well, but this season especially, is not one to be taking a gamble on unknown quantities.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2011 23:39:51
Thanks Ed. It seems strange if bellemy has been in Glasgow a few times. I think Man city would be keen to get him out of the country.Scotland would be their preferred location for him. Just my opinion! so here's hoping.I realise some fellow tims are unsure whether he should come back but I still think he would be the best player in the SPL if he returned.Older,wiser and maybe a tad slower.Still great. {Ed007's Note - I'm not too keen on the thought TBH, never have been.}

Why would use not take bellamy back? he is a great player with great experience. if we get bellamy an a cb we will win the lge

Ed has there been any actual contact between celtic and paul dixon or any confirmation of intrest by NL? {Ed007's Note - I would imagine there has been contact.}

Ed.....you imagine there has been contact?? does that mean you THINK there might have been....or you KNOW there has? {Ed007's Note - Yes it does mean that ;-)

Paul dixon in as well as a return for Bellamy tomorrow. No a lot of other interest for him and Man City dont want him near their team. I dont want him either but will support him if he does

Believable1 Unbelievable1

30 Aug 2011 22:50:04
Hi ed. Why do you say there is a slim chance of bellemy. Have you heard something we haven't ? Or is it just speculation? {Ed007's Note - CFC made contact with Man City again days ago. They have been in contact with the player for weeks and he has been in Glasgow at least three times recently. He was in the process of negotiating with City to buy out his contract and was prepared to take a slight drop in wages to join LFC. Cardiff are not impressed because he refused to drop wages to join them and now that Spurs are also interested, City are not keen to negotiate his release to see him join another EPL team. I am not saying a deal will happen, but it quite possibly could.}

Hi ed. Was big Trez the big name signing?? I thought it might of been tevez on loan me self lol... Am abit disappointed that we didn't get baba so it will be interesting to see who do we go for now. I hope to Christ we get rid of samaras al drag him to Sunderland me self . What did we pay for him from man city and what time dose the transfer window close in Scotland? Bigirishmac {Ed007's Note - 23.00 the window closes BIM. We paid between£2/3 million for Samaras, Man City paid £6 million for him!}

On BBC website that we have agreed a 1m deal with Wigan for Maloney. Never been the same since he came back. Now if the Greek Waiter goes I think everyone will be happy. Would be happy if he went for nothing but I'm sure PL will get every brown penny possible for him. CD and cover for Izzy and I'll be one happy tim tomorrow night. Any new names Ed to the one we know about?

Hail Hail Daz the Hoopy

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Thank god, good luck Maloney but you have been an utter failure

Evening Ed,
I know there's gonna be loadsa names banded around in the next 24hrs but is there any realistic chances of anymore ins and outs? have u any idea of who?
Ro. {Ed007's Note - I think Dixon could come in, and there is a very slim chance of some one returning.}

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Hopefully it's McManus, that would probably be the one I'd be happiest with to be honest. McManus and Wilson at centre back and I think we look a helluva lot more solid.

Pretty obvious that the baba diawara deal got pulled because samaras refused to talk to either sunderland or st. Etienne!
I my humble opinion!
Any take on it Ed?
MistahMan {Ed007's Note - It was problem with his visa that came to light before NL et al went to the SFA today for the Bangura hearing.}

Believable6 Unbelievable5

STV "understand" that no attempt at a VISa was made. Hard to see what the issue wouldve been based on the ease with which we got the other one. i think theposter is right. We needed Sammi cash. I couldnt see us with 5 strikers (not even counting Rasmussen) but if Sammi and Maloney went we'd have just 3 including the new boy. Its a pity because IMO he looked like the sort of player we needed. Tall, strong and good in the air. Bangura seems another smaler type. Timewill tell but hope its not a mistake. We still beed a bigger striker imo. Heres hoping the other two go and we have someone else up our sleeves or that we can resurrect it. surely we didnt bother with trips to Portugal, negotiations etc without first having an idea on the visa ront. Cant see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

The other one was because he passed the criteria Diawarra wouldnt have and would not have been passed on appeal....The Scottish FA?「どィび「s rules on work permit endorsements follow the same guidelines as previously outlined by the Home Office. For the SFA to give their approval, the player in question must have played 75 per cent of his nation?「どィび「s competitive games ?「どィて excluding friendlies ?「どィて in the two years prior to the date of application.

Big spending Russians Anzhi Makhachkala look favourites to sign highly rated Celtic midfielder Ki Sung Yueng

Believable14 Unbelievable16

Ki will not be sold this transfer window end of and if at all most likely at the end of the season but I hope not. 2 years down the line he will be worth a quite few bob

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree. With money as tight as it is in Scotland and forwards a priority I would take any bid over six million for Ki. He has never turned in a 6 million plus performance for us in all the time he has been at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

The bhoy is developing into a very accomplished midfielder. I've got no doubts he's worth atleast 6mil. if we keep him then he'll be the main CM 4a few years, however yoy can't blame the board for taking the money. Let him go next year and bring back Jaurez?

Richybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon wants to win the league and will not let Ki go before a replacement is here. Celtic are only letting fringe player go this window.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great point about jaurez, we shouldnt have let him go, infact with spanish footy in the state its in ive heard we may well get hm back. as the team havent paid him since he arrived there. true guys. check it out yourselves. i think we never seen the best of efrain at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Juarez is a mainly a RB can play as a Defensive midfielder and cannot speak a word of English and reports are has not interest in learning English. The truth is Celtic want as near to ャ」3m for him as they can but there was little interest for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh I've heard otherwise the new striker was brought in to appease fans,board thought sammy,baloney,McCourt,ki,kayal were leaving but they're still negotiating,Sam(refused)baloney(going)McCourt,ki and kayal lenny doesn't want to lose but McCourt and kayal want to leave...

I've heard the deal for Diawara wasn't pursued further in regards to a Visa due to Samaras stating he won't leave. Rather than wanting 2-3 million for him, sell him for 1 million. When he plays we struggle to score yet successful without him.
Pleased with Bangura, desperately need a centre back and a left back at worst case on loan til Izzy comes back.Would have loved Diawara too, would keep Stokes and Hooper on their toes.

Paulo67

Believable13 Unbelievable2

What has a visa for Diawara got do do with Samaras stating he won't leave?

Agree0 Disagree0

When they realised he wasn't leaving, they didn't want to part with more money hence Visa wasn't explored as it was with Bangura

Agree0 Disagree0

If that was the case why did they try to sign Trezeguet? some people should think before they comment. Diawara got nothing to do with Sammy leaving or staying

Agree0 Disagree0

No, I think what the opening poster is saying is that Celtic didn't pursue a visa for Diawara because Samaras is refusing to move. There is no point in obtaining a Visa for a player that we could only afford to get if another player leaves first!

Agree0 Disagree0

The fact is we would never have got a visa for him as he does not have the criteria for a visa hence the reason not to apply. He was supposed to have a french passport and is about to apply for a Portuguese passport as he has been with Martimo since he was 17 which is just short of 5yrs and would have entitled him to sign for Celtic. Celtic apparently have signed a gentlemans agreement and he will be signed in January. They then went for Trezeguet as a short term replacement but opted to go to Baniyas SC

Agree0 Disagree0

When has any1 ever signed a gentlemans agreement? A shake of the hand and I'll bell you soon is all that is.

richybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Richybbhoy you know what i meant and maybe so but the fact of the matter is that is it was nothing to do with Samaras not wanting to leave. Celtic want and need a tall striker and will get one sooner or later.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2011 19:29:22
Hooper is not going anywhere! He has came out and said he wants to stay and win more trophies. So why would he be going to QPR? Let that be an end to it!

Believable5 Unbelievable14

Celtic are not going to get rid of their top striker for a paltry ャ」3M he cost us ャ」2.4 some we got ャ」4 for Skippy. Think about it :)

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2011 19:23:09
Cant see Celtic goin for Diawara anyway unless they get rid of Samaras or Rasmussen.

Drew

Believable7 Unbelievable0

You could be right. The break down of the Diawara transfer reported by STV came around the same time as Samaras rejected a transfer to St. Etienne.

Agree0 Disagree0

Diawara is a visa situation 100% stop speculating

Agree0 Disagree0

Not speculating. Just dont think we'll bring another striker in until we get at least 1 off the books. Got Rasmussen sittin in the stand pickin up a wage for nothing and then you have Samaras who had his chance and will never cut it at Celtic.

Drew

Agree0 Disagree0

The tried to get Trezeguet after signing Bangura and still on the look for a tall striker, Baba is a few month shy of Portuguese passport having been at the club for nearly 5 years. Rasmussen not going to get a chance Lennon does not rate him and ive seen them train a few times and he doenst look all that good TBH Samaras is a good squad player and I want him to go because he doesnt deserve half of what is being said about him, there are bigger imposters at Celtic than him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hate that NL has said Samaras is an enigma the enigma for me is why is he still here.MACCA

Ed, can you confirm that the Baba deal is definately off? Only STV are reporting that it is. Nothing official from Celtic or anything being reported on SkySports or BBC. If there is still an outside chance of this deal happening then i say we give it a good shot and getting it done before tomorrows closure. IF the deal was indeed worth £4mil then surely they won't have given up that easy? Unless they have someone else in mind?

TrampsPants {Ed007's Note - All I know is that CFC never asked for an SFA endorsement for Diawara today, I suppose they could do that tomorrow though if needed. As you say, it is only STV who are carrying the story, so far.}

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Ed, What are the rules on signing and registering a player subject to visa etc. A poster on another thread suggested the player is entitled to apply for a Portugurese passport as he's been there for 5 years. Another said it was a French once due to his coutry links to France. Either way, were this true could Celtic or anone else hypothetically do the deal and sort that in the coming days? IMO its that celtic have cooled their interest given the didnt even ask SFA for an endorsement. Still think Samaras deal was the key {Ed001's Note - players can be signed and registered, the visa only applies to the players eligibility to actually play for the club. They can still be signed and loaned out to other teams for instance, like Ryo Myaichi went out on loan from Arsenal.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Tnanks ed, heres hoping theres another twist then. Not making any judgement on the new striker we bought but based on his profile ho doesnt look the typre of player we urgently needed. any thoughts anyone?

Believable3 Unbelievable10

I bloody hope its not El Algui. I've been to a few Falkirm games this season (Dad & Uncle are Season ticket holders) and despite his goals he is absolute gash. No pace, no control..no anything except a huge heed. I hope to god this is a wind up.

Believable3 Unbelievable13

Absolutley no interest in Bendtner from Celtic. Stoke are the team showing an interest and they're wanting to buy him so that would blow Celtic out of the water anyway. No more lies please.

offered 8 million for iaquinta (sorry its in italian)

ilbianconeronews.blogspot.com/2011/08/il-celtic-offre-8-mln-per-iaquinta.html

Believable9 Unbelievable4

Meanwhile, Iaquinta said no to many requests: particularly strong Celtic (ready to shell out 8 million), but Espanyol, Sunderland, Lille and St.Etienne. Ziegler, in turn, seems determined to reject the three-year, two million per season that has offered Trabzonspor now likely to remain on the sidelines of the project count for an entire season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually it says "ready to shell out ャ」8 million" it doesn't say any bid has been made. I'd be very surprised if we would bid for him, and even more surprised if he agreed to come.

We do need a CB.

However, we have 8 CB's at the club - Majstorovic, K Wilson, Mulgrew, Loovens, Hooiveld, Rogne, Thompson and O'Dea.

Even though some are out on loan, I think we need to sell a couple before bringing another one in.

Ed - any word of us selling any of the CBs. {Ed007's Note - Hooiveld could be on his way out. O'Dea has joined Leeds (loan), Thompson is at Peterborough (loan).}

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Its leicester city it was with a ャ」6.5 million bid rejected by gers clyde 1 sports desk 5.30 news

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you not read the posts that state it aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

Have a mate in Leicester who says that they are defo after Jelavic and will go to near ャ」9m, but there is a Russian club sniffing around who may outbid them. Good on one hand but bad on the other because he has heard a sniff that if they don't get Jelavic then Hooper may be on their radar with the same sort of bid.

As much as i'd like to see sammy go i feel it's a bit unfair to say he's quite happy to stay and pick up his wages like big Bobo, i'm sure Sunderland (if they were interested) would be paying him more money than us. Imo

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Diawarra wil sign in january, he cant get a visa until then

according to stvs sources celtic didnt apply for a visa they just cooled there interest and went for bangoura

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard celtic thought he had a french passport thats why they7u didnt apply for a visa but turned out he didnt have one he will be here in january

Agree0 Disagree0

It was definitely to do with a passport he apparently held a French or Belgian passport then prompting a VISA Celtic knew they would not get clearance for a VISA so did not apply. People saying Celtic cooled their interest because of Mohamed Bangura are way off as a deal had been made before it had been announced we were in for Baba.

STV seem to be the only media outlet reporting the Diawara deal collapsing. wonder if it is actually dead as,if it was, it would surely be more widely reported?

Believable4 Unbelievable3

The fact that they claimed there's visa problems and he has only had one call up and no games for Senegal a visa was always going to be knocked back, Celtic would have appealed but doubt the appeal would have came through in time. I have reports that Celtic officials had an understanding that he held a French passport which wasn't the case. Hence the deal being dead.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can apply after signing somone like they done with wayama and bangura?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama has 11 caps and fits the quota after an appeal and Bangura has got 5 caps in last year and just makes the quota, however Diawara doesnt

Haha ave seen some they aren't to bad sometimes lol, remember our discussion a few weeks ago regarding Bellamy, about him coming I still stand by that, I think he will be a hoops player, looked at the rankers page they are all at sorts at losing jelly belly potentially lol so good reading tbh, and on our signing today with bangora I think he will shine in our league, looks strong and composed too, am a happy Bhoy so far, got bit of business in early doors I think Lenny means business!!

Cumby bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take either of those 2 actually, although with Bangera in now who would be dropped for them?

I'm assuming starting 2 will be Hooper and Bangera (who should be match fit seeing as he has been playing in Sweden for a couple of months already this season). We really would need to move Sami on afore getting another in IMO. Was hoping the big name was going to be a CB, not Trezeguet.

Is there any evidence at all to suggest a 'big name' will be brought in or are people just getting carried away with some fake rumour they have read? Do we really need a 'big name' on ridiculous wages who ends up leaving at the end of the season? We should be bringing in a decent centre back and maybe another young striker, hopefully Jamie Murphy. Build him up at Lennoxtown and he could be brilliant for years to come. I think tomorrow will be about trying to shift Hooiveld, Maloney, Samaras and maybe Rasmussen, which is a shame because he's never been given a chance. {Ed007's Note - It's the press that are touting the 'big name'}

Agree0 Disagree0

Bentnar is a poor mans david dods
Thats a no for me

David

Agree0 Disagree0

This better not be true! Shocking bit of business if true. I doubt that 4m has been offered for stokes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bendtner would run riot in the SPL! People have to start realising that the gulf in class between the EPL and the SPL is enormous! He would score 25+ goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bendtner is a moody so and so, who I wouldn't want anywhere near CP.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why not ャ」4m for stokes, 22 goals in 41 games is a great return for a striker, and if rumours of ャ」3m for samarse are true, then 4m is a low evaluation, and probably why its been knocked back

Agree0 Disagree0

Bendtner reminds me of Samaras, I don't rate him. I understad what someone said about the gulf in class, but this guy doesn't come close to cutting it in the EPL and is a huffy B with ideas above his station. Even if he did come to Celtic, he'd be resenting the fact that he isn't at Real Madrid. The lad has massive delusions about his ability!

There's no truth to these rumours of 4mil striker if this was true lenny should go.it's as plain as jane to see we need a qaulity CB and a BACKUP striker...hooper and stokes will do a job for us this year but need back up,sammy isn't good enough(3mil joke) it's a qaulity defender we need badly big dan is not good enough and the rest are still learning.....unbelievable.makes no sense defence defence defence..?.?.?.?.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

It's is so glaring we need a top notch striker. Both Hooper and Stokes have been found wanting in the big games. We also have no players that can head a goal. With wingers and full backs overlapping and whipping crosses in, we have missed every header chance in favour of the take down. Welcome Big Bad Baba to the family :)

Ki separates our style of football from Rangers, he makes us pass the ball. Must keep him!

Long was 6.5 milion with add on's total fee thought to be 8 million . This out out of our range. Baba will be around 2million . 4 is wide of the mark !

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think we had the money then but if we sell sammy and maloney then the money and wages are there for him. Agree we NEED to keep Ki. He's a class player and as good as Petrov ever was for us.

Forster is not good enough to be Celtic goalkeeper, for someone his size he has no presence in the box and Seeing him come for a cross is terrifying he's that bad at it. get him back to Newcastle and give zaluska a real chance!

Agree0 Disagree0

No way are we signing a4mill player no chance,if we are getting offered 8mil for ki we should sell he is agood player but not that good.rather see a qaulity centre half and back up striker...

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance! Ki is not the finished article yet, give it another couple of seasons and he will be worth double that!

Agree0 Disagree0

It makes me laugh that people think Stokes is good, well I admit he is good sometimes but against a good side he is very average because you can score goals against a poor scottish premier side does not make you a good player. Andy Walker scored 30 odd in one season but he was just an ok player but in Europe he was pish.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep a hold of ki. He worth mare than 8 million.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because you can score goals against a poor scottish premier side does not make you a good player

We wont do much in europe so i see no problem in having someone who WILL score in the spl

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. I would sell Ki for 8m if we could get.
He does not link the play. Kayal is the playmaker in our midfield and Ki should be.
I agree also we need a Centre Half badly.
The only thing i would not agree with is pay 2m for FF. Dont rate the keeper. Must be better out there than him.

Morning Ed, you have any news on when Uefa will give their verdict? {Ed007's Note - Not today by the looks of it.}

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Why not today ed?? i was under the assumption it had to be today for players to be registered and for fixtures to be changed?? {Ed007's Note - Everyone thought it was today, but there is no meeting planned according to reports.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it is today. It is usual bad reporting from BBC. If you read what uefa say it us that no time has been fixed, not ghat no date has been fixed {Ed007's Note - It wasn't from the BBC I got it.}

Hi ed, do you know how long it would take FIFA or uefa to decide if the hoops will be reinstated I've seen a decision today then I've read it could take a week or two due to appeals and judgements, do you know any info?
Also I see that the striker were after diawara has a price of 3-4 million surley if were signing him then some players have to be sold, I.e sammy and maloney? Thank god. Now just to get rid of big dan. Cheers

Hi Ed, first time poster!
I have it on good authority that in the dressing room after the st johnstone defeat, as Neil Lennon was going around the team one by one and asking/telling the individual players what the hell happened, kriss commons snapped back at the manager to the effect that he is the poorest coach he has played for and is obsessed with 4-4-2 to to the astonishment of the rest of the dressing room!
I dont know if i believe it or not, but the source comes straight from said dressing room! Have you heard anything to that effect? {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site, I haven't heard that, Commons should be concentrating on getting back in shape and finding some form instead of looking to pick fights with the management though.}

Believable6 Unbelievable10

Would say its rubbish as for everyone that was at parkhead 3 days before it could see Lennon was playin 4-3-3/4-5-1 with stokes an commons on the wing

Agree0 Disagree0

As a Forest fan the attitude sounds right for Commons.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're comments don't make sense.

"I dont know if i believe it or not, but the source comes straight from said dressing room!"

If the source was straight from the dressing room, why would you not believe it.

However, if this was coming straight from the dressing room, do you not think it would have been in the media by now, rather than you being the unique bearer of the story.

Away back to the dark side you soap dodger.

No Decision on Sion FC to be made today (source BBC Scotland). Looks like this will be a long protracted affair and although the outcome is still likely they wil be thrown out of the group stage, it could happen too late for Celtic to be invited to fulfill the fixtures. Very much in the balance but not looking so promising for Celtic.

Wigan Athletic could hand an English top flight return to Maloney after agreeing a £2million fee for the former Aston Villa attacker.

Maloney has been given permission to leave Parkhead and is expected to agree personal terms with the Latics sometime today.

would absolutely love to see the back of samaras and maloney but cant see us getting 2 mill for wee sean and 3 mill for samaras - surely these teams have seen them play, would be lucky to get 1 mill for both they are hopeless. Any body else concerned we have not been linked with any centre halves ,a blind man running for his life in the dark can see that the ones we have are not up to it (kelvin wilson looks decent but thats it).

Believable5 Unbelievable2

I actually think that Shaun has been ok in parts since coming back but has been unlucky with injuries etc. the lack of a reserve league means that players now have to get match fit in public, which means that their underpar performances are seen by all. To a lesser extent I think Sammy has also suffered in this way as sitting on the bench means that he has lost sharpness (which is mostly waht he is missing)

Celtic look to be selling Samaras and Maloney today for a combined £4m to Sunderland and Wigan. Good bit of business I think. Hope it all comes off. Hope we can use the money to sign the two new strikers and manage to keep hold of Hooper

A £4 million offer baba has been accepted and the unamed team yesterday has been named, Celtic fc, and also looks like big sammy a defo for leaving to Sunderland which will be for with add-ons £3 million, Celtic also on the hunt for left back cover, I expect a bit of business to be done now, and as far as am aware bangura is still a stick on at £2 million, looks like Celtic ready to splash a bit of cash which is good to see.

A win in the group is awarded 800,000 and a draw is worth 400,000. In addition, UEFA pays teams reaching the first knockout round 3 million, each quarter finalist 3.3 million, 4.2 million for each semi-finalist, 5.6 million for the runners-up and 9 million for the winners......Get your facts correct muppet before you post!!

Lets face it if Baba & Bangura are as good as they're getting made out to be they'd have been snapped up by now. I fear a proven goal scorer like Hooper will be sold and bringing in young disexpererinced players. we needed experence last season an lost the legue because of it. we need it this year.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Aye just like kayal, ki and izzy were wanted by other clubs

Agree0 Disagree0

I seem to remember a certain guy called larsson who nobody wanted,the rest is history, so if we do sign theese players then give em a chance and get ryt behind them scottybhoy

Just watched the both of them on utube, i know its not accurate but Baba looks a powerfull striker thats scores a lot of goals in the air something we badly need, and bang looks a good finisher too. End of the day if it means no plate smasher that will do me. HAIL HAIL

Every transfer window is the same, we run around at the end panic buying. If we wanted Bangura or Diawara that much, why didn't we sign them 2 months ago? We will be linked with a hell of alot of players from now until wednesday night and I doubt we will sign anyone to be honest. I hope I'm wrong though. Bangura will end up going to Blackburn and have we even bid for Diawara? We've got 2 days left and we badly need a striker and someone to partner Kelvin Wilson. Get the finger out Lawwell and show ambition for once. The fans have backed Lenny since day 1, It's time the board backed him aswell.
