Not the best bit of business. Does this end signing paddy Roberts.

No. Right now we have 2 first team wingers in Forrest and Sinclair (GMS is offski) . Forrest, as we know, is injury prone. We can't risk being down to the bare bones or having to play armstrong etc like in years gone by. Hayes will be a versatile squad player, mainly for the SPL, where we know he's good enough as he's scored against us often enough! Think of O'Neill's team with the likes of Guppy and Sylla. Its a squad game and some reliable strength in depth is always needed. I'm sure right wing is still the priority position, whether that being paddy or someone else.

Shocking celtic, this is not a champions league signing!

Totally agree Hayes If it happens won't be a convincing to a lot of Celtic fans just hope that there will be better to come.

Read that Aberdeen want Christie as part of the deal. £1.2m cash or if we threw in Christie the fee would be £750,000. What planet are they on Christie should be valued the same if not more than Hayes. Really hope he doesn't go on a permanent deal or we have been well and truely shafted.

Christie cannot be part of that deal! He is someone who can kick on in our first team this year, at least domestically. Not sure he even needed farming out in first place.

Hayes will be a squad player as LM says, with Ciftci Ambrose Commons Allan GMS Janko O'Connell and unfortunately probably Roberts out the door, there's plenty room for this type of player, Wouldn't imagine Christie would be part of the deal as I think Rodgers rates him, Wouldn't be surprised to see McGinn at Celtic too and to be honest they are probably the only two players in Scotland that are good enough to fill the squad. Rodgers will have his targets to spend the serious cash on that will hopefully get us competing in the CL.

I can only guess that Rodgers isn't getting Roberts, He has tried to mould forest, gms isn't in his plans - and maybe he sees something in Hayes that he can work with. As he has done with Sinclair, Moussa, etc.

I agree letting Christie go would be a mistake as he's great - but assuming we keep Armstong and Rogic he would just be back up and perhaps he, the player, wants to play so is pushing for a move.

Hayes in for little money even as cover for forest and Christie out on load for another year to build character and if he has a season like he has had this year, we'll get him back next year or recall him if / when rogic gets injured again.

Hayes can also play leftback, which has been an issue for us this season when Emilio isn't on the bench like last week when McGregor had to play there. Emilio may well be off despite us triggering an additional year for him.

Don't know what's worse us going for Hayes or Aberdeen wanting £1.2M for him 😂.

Reports today that Southampton will not entertain bids under £70m for Virgil. If true that is great news for us. What a fantastic player easily the best CB in the EPL. Would not be surprised if the likes of Real, Barca, Juve etc get involved when the bids start.

Good news . . but we let him go for far too little he should have been sold for at least 25 plus these add ons. people here said wasnt
Worth what we sold him for and we can't ask higher but if an epl club wants him then charge epl money . the good thing out of it is he is that good that we can use him as the benchmark when epl and others come call g for moussa .50 mill min just to start talks.

Definitely drb, i'm hoping that will be the case in any future deals. Good to see Karamako Dembele has signed a youth form and is happy to be at Celtic. Nice words from himself and his father regarding the Club and his development.

ppl don't pay £25m for a defender playing in Scotland - AND the player wanted to go.

best we could hope for was a sell on clause.

good business than an unhappy player.

That was then this is now and our players play in the CL something most players down there don't get the chance to do. Players who have left Celtic in recent years have gone to EPL and proved they are good enough so if clubs in England want our best players they WILL pay what they are worth. Unhappy? I don't recall him being unhappy and Celtic can use the likes if Virgil and Vic to say to these clubs the days of you lot getting our players on the cheap are over!

03 Jun 2017 08:41:48
Digibanger would you let moussa go for 12 mill as people don't pay 25 mill for an spl striker . the fact is an epl team wanted an spl defender to play for them. if they think he's epl standard then its epl money . we don't need to hope . he was our player we dictate the asking price. if they don't like it don't buy him.

Well said stan anyone with a brain could see virgil was top class and CL is a lot higher level than epl. sometimes wonder about the scouting system at these clubs tge top 4 missed the boat with this bhoy and bug vic was the same.

I think previous history with big money moves for SPL players is the reason no one pays big money now

Gordon
Hutton
Cuellar
Hooper

If these guys performed better then Wanyama, Forster and VVD would have left for more. Now we have a track record of buying players and making them better we get what we want so Moussa will make us 25 million plus.

I didn't say people wouldn't pay more the £12m for a striker - but for an "unproven" defender or midfielder yeah.

don't take my word for it - it feckin happened! With Vic and VDV - be honest they were probably lured here by their agents saying "its just next to the EPL. " all that shop window bollox.

Also do you thing Lawwell and DD would have let them go on the cheap - What did we pay for them, what did we get/ add ons can we get = good business.
