Reports that Celtic have secured an 18 month loan deal for Roberts and the deal will be concluded at the weekend when player comes up for the Ross County match.

Cannot confirm the validity of the story I'm afraid.

Honestly don't know why fans on here are unhappy about this move if it was even just to end of season i would be thrilled its not often one of englands most promising talents come up to scotland the boy was bought for 11 million i can't wait to see him in the hoops! Even if he makes half the impact denayer made its well worth it.

Rabmac I heard that rumour and if it is true I think it would be a very good move for Celtic . If we signed him on 3/ 4 contract we could have lost him after 18 months anyway . I suppose we would have made £4/ 5m but then again if we gave £4/ 5 m for him he could flop and we would struggle to get back the money we pay for him.

Steph. we have an 18 year old of our own gaining great reviews in the same position that's why I do t see the point of this. why hinder/ put obstacles in the way of the prospects we actually own.

Would have much preferred to have given Aiden Nesbitt a run in the first team than help develop anther teams player.

I was worried at first by all the loan moves and the link with Man City but I think it's a very good deal and I hope this continue's
There is no way we can afford to spend £5m or £6m on a player and to get one that is valued at £12m for 18mths is great.

If he turns out to be as good as Denayer and Guidetti then we have no worries.

The only thing I might be a bit concerned about is that I read that part of the agreement is that he has to play. What happens if he has a stinker of a few months.

DOn't know the lad, but the 18 month option for 12M winger is about as good a signing as we might have hoped for, surely?

Only real concern is can ronny put out a side that predominantly features a winger. (an/ several wide midfielders ain't really the same thing) . Got a good feeling about this lad tho. We haven't had a winger since McGeady and have relied on left backs and the like since Bobby Peta. Celtic needs a winger.

He looks a player but agree with Ice Man, Nesbitt should be getting his chance and training with the first team and Commons while he's still at the club. There's only so much a player can develop playing against kids.

It could be worse i suppose while we are bringing in £12m wingers there's a new club across the city who have brought in a young superstar worth at least 200k hahaha how times have changed and the best thing is we are getting these players fairly not by means of cheating ☺.

Ed Have you heard anything on Steven Fletcher situation?
Apparently we have a agreed a pre-contract with him but are trying to get a deal done with Sunderland to bring him in before the end of the transfer window.

Money and injuries aside, Fletcher would be a good SPFL striker. Is he better than LG? Not for me. Would he do a turn in Europe? I don't think he's mobile (or clinical) enough. Now, to add money and injuries to that, it's (for me) a no brainer.

All that aside, what really disappoints me (if this is true) is that it reeks of a board so out of touch with the fans, they think signing a player we wanted over 8 years ago will be seen as a huge coup. That's what scares me.

I'll be the first to say I did want SF back then - but not only has he failed to become the player I thought he would/ should have become, he's older, more injury prone and as mentioned above, way too costly for a punt.

12 goals for Sunderland in the past 3 seasons joeshmo.

You know a bit more now :)

{Ed007's Note - Over the last five years Fletcher has spent 93 and then 158 days out with two separate ankle injuries on top of 26 (TWENTY SIX) other spells out injured.}

To put that in a bit of perspective Ivanovic has 10.

According to the Daily Mirror down here, West Ham want to sign Fletcher.
I don't know how true that is, but if it is, it's hard to see that he'd choose Celtic, as you would imagine West Ham would pay a lot more in wages.

Or 23 in the last 4 seasons if you want to use stats. All league goals, for Sunderland, who create very little compared to other teams in the league. If he stayed clear of injury (which is obviously not easy) i think he would score plenty up here. Am I desperate to sign him? Nope! Would I welcome his signing should it happen? Yes I would.

Carlton Cole has a better record in last 4 seasons than fletcher.

Has he signed yet cause until he has unfortunately you can never say never hope he does sign for West Ham or anybody else cause I believe we have Scotland's best number 9 and don't need his under study.

Looks as though we want Roberts for longer than just this season! Not seen him play but if he is coming in then this makes more sense than a 6 month deal.
Does this mean Forrest won't sign new contract?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2016 07:36:17
That defo makes more sense but if it does not happen and Forrest does not sign just throwing this out there would Celtic then consider Selling Forrest and consider bringing in The boy from St Johnston?
