I personally believe he will run riot up here. He scored 17 goals in 35 matches in the championship which is a harder league than the spl. I also heard that we have put in a official bid for sinclair. Any truth in this ed.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

28 Jun 2016 23:04:45
Sinclair bid got rejected mate 2 million was supposedly what we offered they want more.

29 Jun 2016 09:21:11
Not having a dig at you or young dembele hoopyric . I hate hearing that "he'll run riot up here ". it crops up when we go for anyone out of England or another" big "league . over the last few years we've been shown that isn't alwYs the case . players sometimes can't adapt or aren't as good as our scouts suggest and with the way spl teams play with 10 behind the ball it isn't as easy as so. e people suggest. hopefully this bhoy is different and as I said it's the phrase rather than the sentiment I dislike.

Agree1 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 11:26:23
I get what your saying but think playing in the Championship will stand the lad in good stead for SPL.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2016 11:36:39
Worry is tompo he's only 19 . couple of poor games then our fickle fans will be all over him. same with young ajer both are being hyped up and if they don't hit the ground running they will get roasted.

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Jun 2016 11:52:57
I agree with that drb, they're only young lads, and need to be given a bit of leeway, and a good settling in period.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jun 2016 15:41:34
I think young Ajer could be in for one hell of a tough time if he is played regularly from the outset and doesn't be player of the match every game . Coming from Norway will have the mouths among our supporters down on him dfrom the word go, they will think he has a cheek thinking he can step up to the SPL .
I expect Dembele to do well, not because he has played in the Championship but because he seems to have his head screwed on and with the pace, strength and ability he seems to process he should do well against the very strong defensive set-ups in the SPL.

Agree0 Disagree3

29 Jun 2016 20:11:58
Ajer will be fine he'll be used sensibly the midfield is reasonably strong so don't see the problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2016 01:15:03
Our "fickle" fans? What's this patter all about? Behave yourselves lads, we always give young players a bit of leeway. Name me a young player that tried his best n got stick?

30 Jun 2016 22:28:22
When's the first flight to Norway? πŸ˜‰.

28 Jun 2016 17:45:55
I'm hearing that there might be another Celtic medical booked for this week as well as Dembele's, and it's a centre half.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It'ssaid to be for Kolo Toure.}

28 Jun 2016 17:50:02
Hope not think he's a donkey and wrong age makes too many mistakes.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not a fan myself but I can understand the thinking even if I don't agree with it.}

28 Jun 2016 18:09:21
Plenty of experience right enough ed but think he's too much like Effe but he would provide cover.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - We're without Simunovic and Boyata for the start of the season so we are short. Rodgers knows him and obviously trusts him so if it is him he'll probably do us a turn in the short term. We're left with 2 available first team CBs.
I'll say this though, I'd much rather we went into the CL qualifiers with Toure than Ambrose or throwing a youngster in there - even if some people think players need to be playing there to improve. And if signing Toure means Mulgrew isn't getting a new deal then I'm all for it. Who knows, Toure could be the cool experienced head we need to steady the defence during the qualifiers.
All this optimism is making me feel ill, I'll need to go for a lie down I think.}

28 Jun 2016 18:20:44
Kolo isn't ideal for me but experience will be vital for Europe and he still has that bit of pace.

Can certainly help progress KT more defensively.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 18:35:59
Where u hearing it's toure ED? Think he mite do a job for us in there next to Erik! Bags of experience and still got a bit left in the tank yet I think! What kind of deal do u think we'd offer him ED? Maybe a years deal? Anybody in there would be better than ambrose! I actually can't believe we're still talking about ambrose anymore! He should have been the first out the door! Fingers crossed he'll be off soon!

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I've got no idea of any of the details.}

28 Jun 2016 18:58:43
Now there's a player I'd want on a pay as you play. I think it's a good move.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 19:25:57
Don't understand the negativity of some, Toure was in the Liverpool team In the second half of the season and playing very well, we had Efe and Boyata.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 19:27:28
The only time i saw Toure last season was in the Europa final and he was brilliant. Just done a bit of digging on him and found an article from 2 weeks ago when his release from Liverpool was confirmed and there's a large amount of their fans gutted he's moving on. They spoke of his proffessionalism, commitment, being dependable and a real decent back up for them. Might be worth taking a punt on (especially if it keeps Efe and Boyata away from the team) .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - And yet at aged 35 Liverpool let him go.}

28 Jun 2016 20:07:51
I have to say that I think Toure would be a great signing, he was outstanding for Liverpool In the europa final.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 20:34:48
He does have plenty of experience which could be priceless. I'd have hoped for somebody younger though.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Jun 2016 20:35:44
This would be a top signing. He clearly isn't coming for the money as he could get crazy wages in the US or China. He obviously wants to win more trophies and have another crack at Europe. Huge experience and a natural leader. Ideal!

Agree2 Disagree1

28 Jun 2016 20:59:10
Your getting a player who had a stormer for us last campaign should of been motd in the euripa league final. Problem you have is Rodgers can't defend or set up a unit to do so. Kolo might not look great for use i'm afraid. He's top though and still has it just hope it works for you.

Congrats on demebele there's another 15/ 20 million in 2/ 3 seasons 😊.

Shane Duffy on way to Celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2016 15:46:09
I suppose Brendan Rodgers making one good signing would in the eyes of some have to make a very bad one to even up. Fans will let him off the bad one if he signs a good one .
I don't think B R would purposely buy a bad player, he has his reasons for buying who he does and we have to hope it works out well.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 17:41:56
Well done everyone at Celtic what a great deal. 4 year deal for Dembele .

Hail Hail.

For Moussa:
Laissez les bons temps rouler

Let the good times roll.

{Ed007's Note - I've just realised that Clint Hill is old enough to be Dembele's dad!}

28 Jun 2016 18:32:05
Depending what area of the toon you hail from, he could be several of our first teams da's.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 13:36:46
Phoned my Tim pal when I heard the Dembele news to see if it was really happening.
Looks like it is for a fee of about Β£500k, but he told me Dembele's wages are minimum Β£50k weekly with bonuses, so looks like Rodgers has finally smashed our wage ceiling.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

28 Jun 2016 13:44:49
50k? Quite a bit over the wage cap that.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 13:51:39
Guys, any info as to how long the contract is for . Hope it's at least 4 years.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 14:20:33
50k a week for a 19 year old can't see it tbh think more like 25-30 if he is indeed on big money.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 14:22:37
19 year olds down south can make that no bother even for sitting on bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 14:40:08
He was on Β£5k a week at Fulham and turned down a 4 year deal worth Β£20k a week in February.

28 Jun 2016 14:27:00
I have watched the YouTube videos of this Young bhoy Moussa Dembele and he looks very sharp and will be a great bit of business on the field and in a finance positive in the future. The videos show not just positives which I prefer but he looks a massive positive to me. I see that someone has stated we are linked with Steven Caulker which would be better than the boy Wisdom although I hav seen much of them both in recent times. ED is there any updates on other moves that look stronger than just a rumour?

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 14:59:41
Nothing against Dembele, but can't think of any of our recent flop striking acquisitions that didn't look sensationaly good on youtube., if he wants Β£50,000 a week, wouldn't touch him with a bargepole.

Agree0 Disagree4

28 Jun 2016 15:54:47
Aindo I disagree mate I remember watching about a 5 minute clip of Amido Balde and I think he only had about 3 shots on target and only one resulted in a goal! πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2016 15:59:06
I'd it over the line yet, apparently Chelsea circling with intent. If it's money motivated they will win hands down. He'll get on Park time at Celtic, something he can only dream of for the next couple of seasons at least if he goes to Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's not much that goes on at Chelsea that Ed002 doesn't know about and she never mentioned anything about any planned move from them but as I've said, every team in the EPL seem to have had an interest to some extent in him which is a testament to how much of a coup this is if Lawwell can pull it off.}

28 Jun 2016 16:19:51
From zero to hero if he can squeeze this one over. Would redeem himself a bit. I'd imagine orders from DD thou.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - But he's only been doing what DD and the board have been telling him all along. I'm not buying all this DD is funding all this by himself, this is the way the Club should have been being ran for years. The money was always there, just look at what we've paid for players like Balde and Bangura, Boeriggter, the list goes on and on.}

28 Jun 2016 21:06:37
I wouldn't worry about wages. Even 100 grand a week won't be bad if you sold him for 15 mil in 2/ 3 years. Make a bit of profit infact.

He's a lad who is 18 and scored 18 in the championship which is no easy feet you habr players scoring less and going to the prem and lighting it up.

To buy him from a 3 year contract on last seasons stats is easily 10 million quid. Simples.

Just imagine though if you have pulled the next pogba move. He went on a free and 3 years later your talking 80/ 90/ 100 million.

Martial went for 36 without the stats of this lad.

I'm not even a Celtic fan but following Rodgers just from the 2nd season and this could just be an absolute blue whale out the hat.

Or it could flop on its ass and your saying bye to Brendan after 6 months and lumbered with the lad and his wages for the next 4 years.

Just to shed some different light on my post.

Hi Ed any truth in dumbele deal sound a good recruitment if so.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'm just out from a hospital appointment where I couldn't access my phone mate but I got a message earlier this morning from Ed002 saying that there was a strong possibility that Dembele would be moving to Celtic. I didn't think it would move that fast though and had planned to post it up when I got home.}

28 Jun 2016 13:47:13
Ed, this is a real coup and a sign of intent. This kid has the chance to go to the very top.

We have the boy Ajer in for central midfield so for me if we can sign a good quality CB and winger (and hopefully a GK) I think we will be good for the Champs league qualifiers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm looking forward to seeing Ajer and the general feeling seems to be that he's impressed in training considering he's arrived during a managerial change. Brendan Rodgers spoke to him and assured him nothing had changed with the Club's plans for him. Let's hope he keeps to his word about the young players.
I'd love to get a new GK in, I'm never confident going into any big game with Gordon in goal and the aftermath of the SC semi-final masked yet another blunder of his in a massive game. There is no doubts in my mint that no matter what European competition we're in next season Gordon will cost us points.}

28 Jun 2016 13:47:15
Thx Ed . Nothing serious I hope, and on a lighter note why was your phone not on in hospital, you know all the bhoys are sitting with bated breath wating for a signing and you have your phone off . Lol
Keep up the good work Ed as always .

{Ed007's Note - Cheers mate. It was only a check up but I had to get X-Rays and scans done.}

Hi ED
On your point about a new keeper and I know he is 31 but what about bringing Michael McGovern back to the club.
Always though he was a good keeper and is available on a free.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - To replace Gordon? No thanks.}

28 Jun 2016 20:35:01
McGovern performance against Germany was grossly overrated

the saves he should have made, he almost made a hash of them which led to further frenzied saves

I'm sorry but the MMG circus is a joke …never a CFC standard and Gordon does indeed win hands down (or up)

Great news. Hey Edo we putting this one down to JP?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm just catching up with it, JT. It's brilliant news, what a signing. I think we can safely chalk this one up in the BR column.}

28 Jun 2016 13:44:10
That would be my hunch too.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's got to be. But I wouldn't be surprised to see Fletcher brought in now lol.}

28 Jun 2016 13:55:30
Well we'll need somebody to lace the boots of Griff, Paddy Roberts and Dembele up top.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Would you take him as a benchwarmer on a heavily weighted pay as you play contract? Could he do a job for us against your Accies and Dundees to give Griffiths or Dembele a rest?}

28 Jun 2016 16:31:15
He could do the job domestically Ed sure. Pay as you play would be the ONLY way I'd take him now.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Being a squad player at Celtic would still be the highlight of his career.}

28 Jun 2016 16:53:58
It really would. If it's cover we're after now, as opposed to a different option, I'd sooner go for Christian Santos on a free. His record blows Fletcher's out the water.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I doubt Santos would be happy to be a 3rd choice striker though. The thing is, if Dembele is signed then Fletcher is brought in we know he's only going to be a squad player, if he had been Rodgers first signing there would have been a kick up with the fans and the press would have had a field day. Now JP can finally bring in his wee pet he's been yearning for and nobody will bat an eyelid. Which would be fantastic PR work by the Club for a change.
It's all pure speculation though, I was speaking to one of his close relatives at my nephew's football do a couple of weeks and he said there was nothing in it as far as he knew. But like most footballers Fletcher doesn't phone round everyone he knows to update them on his life.}

28 Jun 2016 17:30:33
Fletcher is the only reason JP has a career. Everytime I read in the press about the fantastic players that Hibs side brought through I cringe. Granted Brown has been good, and Hibs realistically need to bring their own through, but there are a lot of clubs and heads of development or whatever that have brought through a better crop than Fletcher, O'Connor and Riordan. All I'm saying really is I feel his time at Hibs is overrated. Now BR has stated he won't work under a DoF type figure, and we have McCart, McGuinness and Driscoll - JP is nothing more than a glorified scout now.

I know where you're coming from with the 3rd choice thing. Truth is we'll struggle to bring anybody of any standard to Scotland knowing they'll be third choice. I can see us playing both Dembele and LG at times so a 3rd choice should get game time. And of course, if they do play well, any manager worth their salt would give them more starts. But aye it would be difficult.

Well I take your sources over my own, Graham told his cousin there WAS something in it. Clearly unlike Fletcher he likes to go around just talking brown bananas.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Hahaha. Most players don't call up their family members and keep them bang up to date in case they end up with egg on your face. Imagine you phoned up your cousin to say it looked like you were signing for Celtic and it didn't happen, you'd be a laughing stock behind your back. I never buy all these stories about X players cousin was in the pub and Celtic have offered him Β£20k a week and a house but his wife isn't sure, it's bollocks lol.
My dad was really friendly with Phil O'Donnell's dad, Bernard and knew he was joining Celtic weeks before it happened and never told me because he knew I wouldn't be able to keep my mouth shut.}

30 Jun 2016 01:15:56
Ed007 . Your father is/ was a gentleman, it wasn't his news to tell and so he did the right thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He was that, Chris but I am biased lol.}

28 Jun 2016 07:28:31
Hearing Steven Caulker is a name on the list of CB's Brendan is interested in.
Would be a brilliant signing if we could make it happen.
I think all we need is a CB, CM and 2xST.
Would be happy with Caulker, Delaney, Dembele, Elyounoussi.
