Pukki and Biton deals done. Expect a second bid for Alfred Finnbogason in the coming days.

Believable20 Unbelievable11

Would love to see both front men but I can't believe we would fork out for the two of them.

Neil Lennon confirms a fee has been agreed with Schalke for Pukki.

Believable24 Unbelievable5

Really don't understand this one he can't even play in the Champions league! Hope Lennon has another Striker up his sleeve as well!

Agree1 Disagree1

Yeah, Neil seemed very emotional in the after match interview. Quite a lot of anger with some of the media and with some of the fans whom he feels have been over critical of team and some players performance. May be true but there are also a heck of a lot of fans who have been positive and praiseworthy of the team's efforts. sojfra

Agree0 Disagree0

He can play in cl mate. The rules changed so we can sign him and play him no bother but think this post is a educated guess not seen Lennon say anything about this

Agree0 Disagree0

How many times do we need to cover this? Gazcfc21 he is elligble for the Champions league! The group stages and qualifying are classed seperate!

Agree0 Disagree0

Neil isn't angry with the fans he is angry with Dermot for not providing substantial funds and rightly so.

SharkyBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree SharkyBhoy that was a dig at the board 2nite not the fans. Chris30

Agree0 Disagree0

Lenny did confirm the fee was agreed for Pukki but not personal terms. His passion at the after match interview was clear. Some of the fans have been critical in recent times (myself included on occasions) but we are entitled to do that. The club has walked a very fine tightrope for the last 2 qualifying rounds. We won each of them by 1 goal and could easily have lost either. Decent players in before those ties could have made it easier. Most fans believe the prize was too big to take that chance on and even though it worked out ok it was more as a result of good luck than it was good judgment. Yet again we played Russian Roulette with our chances and a club like Celtic shouldn't be doing that because we need the financial rewards that qualifying brings.
I think it's fair to say that most fans who have been critical have done so out of frustration rather than wanting to do any harm and our frustrations have been proven right even though we have qualified.
Elfsborg and Shakhter will never set pulses racing across Europe and if we're only just beating teams of that calibre then it shows how far we have to go to offer serious competition to the big teams. Let's all get real folks, we have a lot to do to impress in the upcoming campaign and new faces offering quality football is now essential. We should be grateful that we're getting the chance to compete because apart from the Cliftonville tie we have not looked particulary impressive apart from tonight.

Agree0 Disagree1

It's not an educated guess. Neil Lennon confirmed it at press conference. He also referred about the negativity in Scottish media which has rubbed off on some fans. He was really on one. Not happy with lack of help from board either and he thinks some fans are to harsh on James Forrest. To be honest I just think it shows how passionate he is for Celtic. Bet the media go on about his remarks about the board.

Word, Chrisbhoy. Understandable at Lennon's diffidence tonite - also understandable that the prospect of no champions league football pies us lot off no ends. The stakes are so high - and the pressure they put on Lennon must be exponential compared to the nervous excitement we all felt last night.

But _we don't have a divine right to champions league football_ as the man says. This Khazak outfit played with everything they had - taking a hint or two from our fabulous campaign last year - and much respect to them.

We won't avoid the gauntlet any time soon - and only the board have the power to lessen the affect on our collective nervous system.

I still don't get why a 10M investement in June for a 20M payoff in September isn't an attractive proposition. I reckon if I were to go to the bank this morning and lay out the liklihood of doubling a capital investment in 6 months I could just about raise the capital (and clear my overdraft in the process!)

Still - that was the best the lads have played all season - and as eager and direct as I can genuinely recall on a uropean nite! Fabulous result - and the more congratulations to Neil and the team are due for putting in a display to thrill the doubters in our midst, myself included!

b

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair does he was annoyed at the fans but he has got to realize that the performance in Kazakhstan was humiliating. for the caliber of opposition it was terrible.

allot of people pay allot of money for a season ticket and that's there season over if we went out last night.

we should not have go through that last night. I don't know how much more my hart can take.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some comments posted here are reminicent of MSM, our financial planning has to be long term and we cannot attract top players any more due to income streams in Scottish football.to say it was luck rather than planning is the type of comments NL is moaning about as it shows a lack of respect to the squad that quite frankly done a helluva job last year! As for the post above about our season being over sums it up. we have never qualified every year for CL now its an expectation. FFS!

HH

Agree0 Disagree0

No one has a problem with Neil defending his players, Alex Ferguson did it on a regular basis. But as fan's who are the life blood of the club we are entitled to feel let down when the board are dragging there feet in the transfer market and also when the team put in display's like Elfsborg & Shakhter away. The player's and manager deserve credit for last night's performance but it work's both way's!
I was an angry fan last week and let my feeling's be known on different sites as I am entitled to do but not once did I call for the manager's head or or sack the board! I questioned the team set up and lack of idea's from the manager when the game was slipping away.

I just feel that Neil took some shine off the performance last night with the "I told you so" dig at the fans.

Just my opinion!

It's been said numerous times on here and direct quotes from targets. If they don't want to come even if club agree a fee the player can say no. It happened to CFC with Wanyama and hooper targeted by others fee agreed and player says no. They should be told the fees agreed go. They are assets of the club and now they are more assets in their own interest. This is the industry they choose. If they are sold to Russian or Wales in space of a few years tough they get well paid for it.

Agree0 Disagree0

10m investment for a POTENTIAL 20m return in September. If you walked into any bank with this proposition they would throw you out on your ear. No decent player will join us anyway until cl football has been confirmed, that's just the way it is. I suspect Arsenal are in the same boat. They could sign finnbogasson (spelling) no problem, but the type of player Arsenal are going for will want cl football. They will sign players now, as will we but it all hinges on getting into the group stages. don't think we can realistically sign the players we want until we had got through. Unless you want to spend 10m on rubbish over the hill has beens.

My first game in a while and bhoy did I pick the right one. Bar Barca and Boavista that's the best result/performance in my lifetime. Always knew we could but it's such a relief to show that despite our losses, we're still good enough for the Champions League. In a time when a lot of fans are frustrated we're delightfully reminded of how great it is to be a Celtic fan. Everybody on that park was fantastic, and performed their roles expertly. Special mention to Efe, who I have criticised heavily, didn't have a great deal to do I guess but strolled through the game and played it out from the back fantastically. Now let's see some real signings please.

TV saying nir biton has signed

GunnieBhoy

Believable13 Unbelievable4

On sly sports.

Here's our story on the news that that Celtic are believed to have agreed a deal to sign Israel international Nir Biton from FC Ashdod. The 21-year-old is a holding midfielder with six international caps and he attracted interest from Manchester City last year.H.

Nir Bison? Is that close tae Buffalo?

The guy looks like an amazing attack minded midfielder with skill and vision in abundance for his young age, and more likely than not will only get better. Any idea what is defensive qualities are like?

Celtic please go after this one, I feel he may be the next Wanyamma!

He has signed a 3 year deal, that's what I've seen. Maybe with option of further year to make it 4. Jammy how is it a rubbish statement, who u wanting to sign? And be realistic with, would the player play is spl without CL footie? With what I've seen and heard most of our top targets have said no when a bid has been accepted.

Believable5 Unbelievable12

I can imagine it will be dead in the water now, seen today that they have told cardiff to fork out almost 8mil for him. If pete wouldn't spend 5 on him I seriously doubt he will spend close to 8 for him.

Lenny has said publicly that he has tried to sign a number of strikers but they have said no, not him. Unfortunately we aren't Man U or Chelsea whereby we can get any player we want so we have to want them to begin with but just as importantly they have to want to come. And that appears to be a big part of the problem.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people need to chill, everything that is out there is pure speculation. We will find out once signings are concrete. To be honest we need to start thinking about the long game (i.e. future seasons) rather than the short game (i.e. just this season). To be honest I would rather heavily invest in youth and start to bleed them through than spend millions on foreigners who come and use us a stepping stone. It's already coming to the stage we are struggling to attract any real experience and talent due to the state of our game. I think Scottish football need to build an academy of sorts to teach a whole new aspect to our game because whatever we are doing now it's not working but I think this is a debate for all clubs not just Celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just can't compute the words Hooper, Replacement and Deeney together

Agree0 Disagree0

JB and monkeybhoy, what if lenny did what u suggest and we came 2nd to inverness of the dons? Would u still say its the way forward? I want us to blood youth but not at the expense of losing out on CL footie or more importantly not winning the league! You 2 would be the very people that would be first on here posting how bad the team is and that we should of invested, we are already struggling in the league and so far our youth have fallen short.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not advocating fielding our under19 squad. 1 new player produced per season would satisfy me that Lennoxtown is money well spent. How can we say they're failing when they don't get a chance. JB
