Jonathan Soriano?

How realistic a signing target is this for us? He's a great striker who scores roughly 30 goals a season in the Austrian league and has done consistently over the last 4-5 seasons. He'll be 31 in September so he's still got a few years left in him and he's only got 1 year left on his contract with Salzburg, he's very clinical and great at Free Kicks and surely if he's been happy enough to play in empty stadiums in Salzburg he would love to come to a full house at Celtic Park and potentially CL football?

We've pushed the boat out for a manager and it's time we did that with a striker as well imo one of the most important positions on the pitch, guys like Will Grigg just don't inspire me. So is there any chance of this signing potentially happening?

We say this every season. Then we don't sign him. Then he scores 30-odd goals. Then it happens all over again the next season lol.

Every year there are the same players mentioned, soriano, Finnbogason (the phantom Celtic fan, Aron Johansson. now we've 'pushed the boat out' I'm sure we're a certainty to sign all the players ever mentioned!

What are the chances Ed of Will Griggs getting brought in and what kind of price we looking at he stills has 2yrs to run on his deal, Wigan paid a million for him. I'd take this lad his finishing is brilliant and would take some of the pressure off leigh. What you think Ed?

{Ed007's Note - There's no chance of him being brought in.}

Why is that ED? Is it because we can't afford him or we just don't want him mate? Not really sure about the guy, not seen much of him. would have thought we would have aimed higher than that to be honest!

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - I don't see why we would sign a player who has had a couple of decent seasons I the English lower leagues. I'd be disappointed, but not surprised, if that's the level of ambition we're showing.}

Ed, my mind, like others i'm guessing, just goes to Hooper and how he banged the goals in for us. I haven't seen him play and I also realise it was League 1 so is that a false comparison to make?

Totally agree mate! Like I said, we should be aiming higher than that! Any info on potential targets ED? I know Brendan is just in the door but was thinkin he mite have a few in mind!

{Ed007's Note - No mate.}

Seen the link on the stokes and hooper social media pg . Did hooper, Charlie Austin not come from lower leagues after a good season or two? They went on to be OK strikers.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Why not list all the players that have came from the lower leagues and flopped? There's a lot more been a disaster than a success.}

Both Griffiths and hooper came from English lower leagues.
The guy definitely scores goals.

{Ed007's Note - So did Daryl Murphy.}

Question for Ed, iwas wondering what the relationship like between mourinho and rodgers? i know they used to be quite close, just thinking if its still good and mourinho brings in zlats, a wee cheeky loan bid for rashford?, heard he's in our wage bracket, pure fantasy stuff i know but we can all dream.

I'd still fancy him to be playing fairly consistently for United, especially if he makes an impression at the Euros. Plus if there's a loan deal to be done, he won't be short of BPL clubs wanting him and that's usually the preference.

Mourinho's record with youth players mean Rashford will probably never get close to Man U's first team while he's there.

He's not a youth player anymore though Green Oak. He's a Manchester United first team player now and after tonight he'll be a full England International as well.

He was a first team player under LVG because he had no one else. Jose will bring in at least 1 experienced forward this season and Rashford will be sent out on loan or sit on the bench.
