Im hearing we are to sign either Billy Sharp or Kevin Doyle early next week in time for Wednesdays match.
Trust me on this

Dannybhoy84

Believable9 Unbelievable16

Can't happen in time for Wednesday, registration deadline for that match was Thursday! {Ed007's Note - One player can still be signed up until 23.00 (or 00.00) on Tuesday and will be eligible}

Agree0 Disagree0

Please Ghod no.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not too excited by either if i'm honest I don't think they are any better than what we already have.

Dannybhoy84

Agree0 Disagree0

If this happens the board have to have a good look at themselves for the money we generated last season in champions league is that our goal to ensure our finances remain strong on a yearly basis or by has beens and get nowhere near the groups an old saying you've got to speculate to accumulate not asking to spend 7 mil on striker but buy young street with goals and determination I think that's our transfer policy. bal1986

Agree0 Disagree0

PLEASE Noooooooooooo! and PLEASE Nooooooooooo!

Agree0 Disagree0

I seriously hope its BS, don't rate either player if doyle was any good I think a championship side or newly promothed epl side would be interested, I don't think anyone is interested in him except us which says a lot. And as for Billy Sharp, no thanks would rather have Pat Sharp.

Agree1 Disagree0

Just seen that Gary Parker has said he is not sure a new striker will be signed to fill the void created by Hoopers switch to Norwich. Maybe just a press statement to keep things low profile although I wouldn't be surprise if we didn't sign anyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Both are just utter crud!

Iain

Agree0 Disagree0

Neil Lennon said the other day that he wanted another striker even if Hooper stayed. I expect at least one striker and hopefully it's not Doyle or Sharp. We don't need players to help us win the spl and these don't have the potential to become champions league players.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope i'm wrong folks but watch this space.

Dannybhoy84

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Mrs Doyle would do a better job for us! I hope NL signs her! Go on.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2013 07:07:17
Hope not neither good enough, Doyle good work rate but as a striker doesn't score enough

Agree0 Disagree0

Billy Sharp has scored goals at the same level as Hooper so I do believe he would be a good replacement, Doyle I would rather we left as his form has not been great of late. As above Gary Parker has said we may not sign a new striker but surely we have to.

Agree0 Disagree1

If that's the level of our ambition we might as well lock the door and switch of the lights right now . Two lower league journeymen, we need quality not quantity, got rid of a lot of dead wood over last couple of years, Loovens, Rogne, Paddy etc now is time to set our sights a bit higher, hopefully we will never be a Chelski or Man rubbishty paying top dollar for average mercenaries but I'm sure we have to have higher aspirations than competing with Doncaster in transfer market!

Agree0 Disagree0

All talk and no action, spend 5-6m on 2 new strikers and get a good left winger and att midf

jelle vossen/alfred finbogasson been mentioned to replace hooper and lawell is operating in that part of europe right now so its a possibility. HH

Believable10 Unbelievable11

27 Jul 2013 23:16:35
would be happy with any one of them but what takes celtic so long to get their fingers out lennon said he knew hooper was going when in germany

Agree1 Disagree0

Never go by YouTube rating a player but the 2 minute clip I seen of finbogasson was unreal the boys scoring record and what I just seen wow

Agree0 Disagree0

Rudnevs .

The deal will be done for Tuesdays deadline.

Big Jason.

Believable6 Unbelievable19

He's already stated that he doesn't want to come to Celtic Henke7

Agree2 Disagree0

He has said not interested in scotland. If true would be great. As long as we are not going too be too scared to spend up to 5 million .i agree with neil lennon we can't spend 6 or 7 mill on players. But there are great strikers that would cost 3 to 5 mill at most. And we could sell on for at least double in couple of years. Playing in celtic is pure confidence boost so any striker or any position get so many chances to score there value doubles or more. So spending that sort of money should be no brainer.

Agree1 Disagree0

Considering he has categorically said he doesn't want to move to Scotland and you haven't got one transfer rumour correct I very much doubt it.

G93

Agree1 Disagree1

Apology there bud I reckon.

I DID say Balde was signing when in our rags he was signing for Palace.

Big Jason

Agree0 Disagree1

We will not sign Rudnevs @ 6 million euro PL nearly fainted, he offered 3 million, with a take it or leave it. He doesn't like to part with the cash but won't let our players go on the cheap.

I personally think we will end up with a project, same as big vic, and hope for the best. Also they seem keen on Doyle, shocking if true.

{Ed007's Note - Take part in our poll to say who you would like to replace Gary Hooper from some of your more popular suggestions:

Believable8 Unbelievable10

Ed that's no fair putting Rhodes in we are never getting him and every one wants him! I just voted for him lol

Agree0 Disagree0

You've got the wrong Finnbogason, Kjartan Finnbogason played for Celtic a few years ago, it's Alfred we're after.

Celtic have had a bid of £2.25 million for James McClean accepted by Sunderland.

Believable12 Unbelievable15

This rumour seems to have legs . hopefully its not true . no better than Forrest or mcgeough . TTTS

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard that rumour today aswel

GunnieBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

You are having a laugh! if true mcgeough, george, etc should put in transfers, this is getting efinnnnnn ludicruzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. al geri.

Agree0 Disagree1

Dont agree that he's no better than forrest and mcgeough personally a think he's far better than mcgeough and we have been crying ut for a naturally left footed winger since alan thompson. A think he would be a good signing

GunnieBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Theres talks ongoing a deal hasn't been done yet that's coming from his good friend

Agree0 Disagree0

If I was wee Dylan I'd be raging, if this is true the boy is only going to get better if he plays, I don't rate young mclean he had a good start down south but got found out after 6months or so. as for george, u talking about Paul George? Did he not get released before jan?

Agree0 Disagree0

GunnieBhoy, if u think Mclean is 2.5 mill better than Mcgeough, go seeeeeeeeee DOCTOR HOUSE! al geri.

Agree0 Disagree0

Paul Slane got released. Paul George will probably be in and around the first team a lot more this season, had a cracking season in the reserves and looks a real talent.

rumor is originating from one particular twitter account, that has also linked us to multiple strikers in England. I think it's pish to be honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did I say he was 2.5m better? lol I said I personally think he's far better than mcgeough. I just don't think dylan is anything special that's all he's an spl player at best let's be honest he's NEVER gona start cl or any eurpean games. that's just ma oppinion don't geez that see a doctor p1sh if u truely think mcgeough is better than mclean then u need the doctor mate a watch enough football 2 see when a player has talent and a just don't think dylan is anything better than spl level

GunnieBhoy

We are close to signing swedish international Ola Toivonen from PSV. Could be here in time for Wednesdays game.

Believable8 Unbelievable24

Is he not going to Norwich?

Danjam

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets hope it's tim matavz if we are talking to PSV

Agree0 Disagree0

Very useful player. Doubt he'd cost that much given he's been angling for a move away. He knocked back Norwich I think so maybe CL could lure him to us?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sure I read he just signed a new contract on the back of Norwich trying to buy him last month.

Agree0 Disagree0

Out of contract next summer. Ditched agent this week supposedly. Always feel we have a better chance of attracting Scandinavian players

Agree0 Disagree0

If you hadn't already noticed, one of our best players has chosen Norwich over us. If Toivonen has turned down Norwich then he won't come to us!

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Jul 2013 12:47:38
Hearing we ar planning a 4.5 million bid for alfreð finnbogason, I think its bull really, can't see us paying that for someone, I think we will bring kevin doyle and some other striker in by the weekend. What do you think yourself ed? cheers.

Gazdcelt

Believable8 Unbelievable17

Aye it's true, but I think AC Milan lazio and Dortmund have shown interest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think Lennon said last night the one he was trying to get the hardest was a name that hadn't been in the rags, I'm hoping its not Doyle personally don't want to be paying 1.5mil plus for a guy that's turning 30 in September

Agree1 Disagree0

Hope its true need a top class striker Doyle going to boro hopefully

Agree0 Disagree0

The fans would love a guy like Finbogasson or Rhodes and we have the cash, but NL has publicly courted Doyle and is a fan of his.
I still maintain we need a real quality talisman to get the fans excited, win games and sell tickets. This should ensure steady financial maintenance and a winning team.

JJ

Agree1 Disagree0

I heard or read that Doyle is on 40K a week. Wages like this have been the excuse for not going for Jordan Rhodes who is supposedly on 45K so why are we considering Doyle?

Agree1 Disagree0

Doyle clearly isn't his main man if its someones who's not been mentioned over here, as Doyle has been constantly linked with us recently

Agree0 Disagree0

Doyle might come in at some point as a last resort but its 100% not who we are currently persuing, Doyle would score goals but u wouldn't put your mortgage on it, PL will be haggling away but it better not cost us our man (whoever it is) we need guaranteed goals!

Bigbadjohn

Agree1 Disagree0

Naw we aint. to little to late same auld, same auld, the mistakes this club makes year after year the same ones, make us a club of losers! . 40 mill in 3 mill oot, ffs. a seething tim.ps don't want 6 mill 40 grand a week signing . but come on. the reason am seething is i think its 50/ 50 next 2 games.al geri.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we sign doyle. its endgame a disaster of titanic prportion. if lennon and lawell don't know that .god help us.al geri.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, I don't buy into the 'safeguard' of the club bull. if PL wants bums on seats, he needs to give the fans a player they want to go and see. I love celtic fc they are in my blood, but we have lost 2 quality players for good money, why not even invest half of that into the squad, with the change and the CL money from last year our clubs future would still be secure. and as far as I'm aware we are debt free so there can't be any excuses for not making a quality signing anytime soon, but like a poster said we always leave it to the last minute to do business and end up having to settle for the likes of miku and lassad, only this time we will end up with Doyle and some other pun o mince.

We all know what t*itter is like but seen a couple agents saying on it we are in for astu of porto at a fee of 5m just putting it out folks it may be utter rubbish
Gally

Believable3 Unbelievable13

Did they not knock back about £7m from Liverpool a week or two ago?

Agree0 Disagree0

If we were to sign anyone from porto a wee guy called Juan Manuel Iturbe looks decent, he was on loan at river plate for the last 6 months, dubbed the next messi. Not sure on how much he would cost or if he would get a work permit, he could bring us a few bucks in a couple of years as he's only 20.

So Lennon has come out and said he hopes to get a deal done for a striker over the weekend, and the player in question has not been mentioned by the press yet. Really hope it's Finnbogason. If it's true that Lawwell has been in the Netherlands yesterday then it may well be him.

I guess we'll find out soon!

Believable14 Unbelievable14

The name is Nemanja Nikolic.
Trust me. ;)
/Bobo

Agree0 Disagree0

Lennon says a lot of things, he says he wanted 2 players in by thursday did that happen? Talks rubbish

Agree0 Disagree1

Watch a bit of Dutch footy and Finnbogason is a class act. That Nikolic ain't got a bad record either Bobo, what makes you so certain?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2013 12:45:38
Woud say you sound an expert on talking rubbish Connor, don't believe all you read in the papers, in Lenny we trust

Dannybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Austin or Sharp for Celtic, would score goals in the SPL, Hooper will regret the day he left Celtic for the back woods, no big games in Europe and on the bench a lot of the time.

Agree0 Disagree2

JimTim, on Nikolic he was identified early in the window by one of our scouts (a friend of mine).
His score rate and style suit our requirements and his cost would fit our model as he'd be around the €1M range.
A bargain given his goals per games in the past few seasons.
