Another predictably poor away performance in Europe. The only consolation is that we didn't suffer a heavy and thumping defeat in terms of the scoreline although we were well beaten all over the park. HH.

Three newbies last night in the team. In European football away from home against a top bundesliga side worth a lot of money.

Christie, Morgan, Hendry. I was prepared to play Christie as a newbie risk. But all 3?

Plus Kouassi and Gamboa chucked in the mix.

Is BR losing it? Or is he taking the piss?

Celtic is a big team. Big teams are expected to play to their max domestically and in Europe. Every time.

Thought the newbies looked out there depth especially kouassi. they moan for a chance and then don't show up when they get the chance . we need a clear out.

They’re worth £750k each mate and they’re up against £10-£26m value players.

RED BULL versus DERMOT DESMOND.

That should be the incentive to be better and show your worth a place in Brendans 11 but we never saw that they were poor.

We have played 2 other Europa League group games with our strongest 11 and were played off the park in one of them so give the guys a chance. I don't think a full squad would have done much better it was a defensive error by our best cb last night who would have made it regardless who was playing so give the guys a chance the only way to improve is to get a decent run and don't think they were that bad considering the competition.

Sinclair must be wondering what he needs to do, when Morgan and Christie are starting ahead of him.

Hi Ed, Mulumbu not featured since the killie game even on the bench just wondering if that is another Commper in the making again?

Very strange he isn't featuring at all with Brown out 👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There's rumours of a fall out between Rodgers and Mulumbu but really nobody knows what's going on with him.}

25 Oct 2018 17:27:13
He needs to be better than what he has been. Totally missing last season and hardly lighting things up this season.

I think Brendan has decided to match young fast youth with the same. RBLeipzig average age is 23yo.

RB Salzburg were similar.

These fast euro wingers seemed to be getting the better of Lustig so a change there.

McGregor taking Broonies role. I expect Mulumbu to be a bit slow in training for the expected pace.

What a pile of utter rubbish. How that koussai is still at Celtic l will never know. And nitcham is all over the place. We can't even compete at this level.

25 Oct 2018 18:58:03
It was only a week or two ago that Brendan was telling us on the tv that we have too many players there. 🤣

Lustig too slow for Europe and Gamboa can’t replace him.

Struggling in defence in front of goal without Benkovic.

Ntcham all at sea and Tierney losing composure, naff clearances.

The RB Leipzig squad is valued at £298m. Celtic at £98m.

We had them matched for 30 minutes.

Question: who would change name to RB Celtic for £245m investment over next 5 years?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 19:00:31
Forget that Ter we have over 17 million in the bank that's all that matters.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 19:25:54
Can we complain to UEFA that £298m RBLeipzig clearly fail Financial Fair Play rules and hope for a 3-0 reverse?

Or should we look to our Billionaire, Dermot Desmond to punt £200m into CFC?

We’ve got a Billionaire too, but it doesn’t feel like it at times. Perhaps we need a better Billionaire? Somebody who puts big money in?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 19:53:37
There squad is worth 298m doesn't mean that's what they spent on it. it all comes down to revenue, and teams playing in England, Germany, Spain ECT will always earn more.

Red Bull put the money in mate. And bought land and built them a new stadium too with even more money.

In Europe even our good players look average and our average players look rank. And BR signs too many average players. Fact. Yes he wasn’t fully supported in last window but he would be better not buying the likes of Hayes, Mulumbo, Hendry etc. Are they any better than we have, nope. Are they trusted even when the team is ravaged by injury/ suspension nope. And yet BR recently said the squad was bloated. When results go against any team the mangers signings get rightly questioned- and recently we have had more misses than hits.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chinks I think there’s maybe business drivers there and bonus structures driving management behaviours and decisions.

These drivers/ bonuses might not be conducive to delivering onfield performances but financial performance.

What if Brendan Rodgers has a bonus structure if he brings in cheap players and develops them for resale (ie he gets 50% of resale markup) that can explain a lot of it. He wouldn’t want to buy two £8m guys that play great for Celtic but don’t increase from that value. No money for BR there.

I hope he isn’t incentivised in this way and I hope all incentives at the club are aligned with winning trophies not increasing player values.

Similarly, if the Board are identifying and buying a player here and there and Rodgers has a feather up his nose about it and not developing/ playing the guy.

Then the guy approaches BR about his situation and it’s a falling out.

If Mulumbu was bought by PL and he plays better than BRs recruits then it’s embarrassing to BR. We got Kouassi tonight and not Mulumbu, what’s going on?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2018 23:12:42
Similarly Arzani.

Who sourced him? Not Brendan?

Why isn’t Brendan playing him? Because he’s not Brendan’s guy so Brendan doesn’t play him. So Celtic suffers? Or is he genuinely not good enough? He’s highly rated in Australia.

We got to see Mulumbu and he’s good, is that a problem? Would Arzani being seen as good be a problem?

Compper has come out in the media saying he’s fit and producing the goods in training but doesn’t understand why Brendan doesn’t play him.

He’s an experienced centre back. But doesn’t make the bench before Hendry.

GHB although I've no idea where you've plucked those numbers from as the side that played us last night cost no where near that much, it's obvious the gulf in finances is making it harder for us to compete in Europe. DD can't just chuck hundreds of millions into the side.

JimTim,

and

goo.gl/jW6TZW

And YES, Dermot Desmond CAN just chuck hundreds of millions into the side because that’s what happened at RB Leipzig, Man City, Real Madrid, Man Utd, Chelsea, Barcelona, PSG, etc.

Billionaires buy football clubs to heavily invest in them. It’s what they do with their money, plus mega yachts etc. Spend the stuff on their passions. For absolutely no returns.

A big famous club like Celtic being €74m euros player value only is utterly embarrassing in this day and age.

Desmond is holding us back. If he wants to play at being a club owner in Europe, he needs to pump in the millions and write it off. Because it’s what billionaires do.

We need a billionaire owner who is willing to spend. Heck, he doesn’t even need to love the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I wouldn't pay attention to what that website value players at for a start but hey ho. Ever heard of Financial Fair Play? I'd agree with the notion we could spend a bit more. Although I think the key is spending what we have done in better ways. But the idea that "Dermot Desmond CAN just chuck hundreds of millions into the side" is just utter garbage sorry. To even compare us to Man City or PSG, well I won't even go into that. Just look up FFP.

As long as Rogers is delivering the trophies then he's right.

I disagree Kev. That’s not how you manage sportsmen in this day and age at all.

“My way or the highway” is very shabby and deadhead.

You build mutual respect and carefully manage any differences with conflict resolution approaches.

People do degrees in management including psychology etc. It’s a structured career discipline. These highly motivated sportsmen are all millionaires in their own right.

I doubt Stevie G manages his players like that. I think some managers forget what they learned during their badges training.
