Strong rumours that Celtic are close to signing Arouna Kone from Everton. DundeeMichael

Believable25 Unbelievable37

{Ed007's Note - Kone is out for the season with a knee-injury so I can't see this happening.}

Holmbert Fridjonsson set to make his Celtic debut tomorrow.

Believable11 Unbelievable23

I hope so and I hope him and Balde get a decent run in the team. NL keeps banging on about trying 2 sign a goal scoring striker but we have 2 strikers who haven't been given a chance yet.

Forget about signing Ings or Fletcher etc all these guys r over priced just because they r playing in the championship or EPL ( I'm not saying they aren't good players but they r over priced!)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, how do I post on main page?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not sure what you mean, look at the left of your screen and there is a list of different sections. Click on either one that says 'Post Rumour' or 'Post Banter' and a text-box should appear.}

Forster; Fisher, Ambrose, van Dijk, Izaguirre; Forrest, Brown, Mulgrew, Ledley; Commons; Balde.

Subs: Zaluska, Biton, Samaras, Boerrigter, Fridjonsson, Pukki, Johansen.

Forrest is injured groin again, I wouldn't play Joe if he is looking to move mulgrew is a cb if u ask me .

Pukki/ Friðjónsson. Blade

Well you are wrong with a striker, sammy gets the nod and I seriously don't know why! Why is lenny willing to play 2 players not willing to sign new deals, time for sammy to be punted. we need to let lenny know we don't want sammy anymore, he doesn't want to be here so get his bags packed infact even if he did want to be here, pack his bags he's rank rotten!

S

Agree0 Disagree0

Sammy in the team. NL obviously planning for the future;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Utter joke of a line up

Agree0 Disagree0

@HamiltonBhoy - Was in the squad. Didn't make the cut for the bench for one reason or another. Would expect his name to be on the teamsheet in the next couple of weeks though.

~seamus~

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't expect to see him in lineup with Lennon at helm. Balde is ahead of him in queue and even he can't get a start with stokes suspended. Lennon now favours 4-5-1 with his favourite stokes lone striker and now pukki looks to get more time after his goal today. Would like to see Balde get more time after a good showing and great goal in Turkey but he will never get time with Lennon at helm. Amido was signed on recommendation from John Park as was the fridge. Samaras and Ledley playing as in shop window. Expecting both to leave soon with Johannsen taking over from Lesley in midfield . Boerrighter coming back to fitness to replace Sammy on left wing when he leaves too. John

Hi Ed. I am registered but can't remember my username.

Here is my rumour.

Very good source. Celtic will consider any offers over £2.5m for Adam Mathews. Seems his injuries are concerns at Celtic and with him on decent wages now is a good time to cash in.

Believable2 Unbelievable34

{Ed007's Note - You will need to re-register, sorry.}

Rubbish. Why on earth would Celtic sell Matthews when Lustig won't be back until March and we only have Darnell Fisher for cover at right back?

~seamus~

Agree1 Disagree1

Let me get this straight. Seamus is calling someone else's post rubbish. Ed this should be moved to the banter section, because it's got to be the funniest thing I've read on here!

OP - I would expect more cash for Matthews but who knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we were to sell or our injury prone players we would have a very small squad indeed.
(Kayal, Forrest, Boerighter, Mathews, etc).

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't we sell Hooper and Wanyama and not replace either of them. Mathews won't be at Celtic for start of next season. If business can be done this window it will, if not then definately in the Summer.

Not sure if this is true but my dad stays in Chester and he's just tx me sayin, there's a forward from Everton coming to celtic on loan and if all goes well there would be a swap involving a celtic player that's injured just now! Has anyone heard anything?

Believable2 Unbelievable10

Lennon said he wouldn't be doing any loans unless it benefited the club in the long term.

Edd says Kobe out injured for season, did he not play with Martinez at Wigan aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye kone is out injured that's why they signed that lacine traore(spelling) on loan and I wouldn't welcome a loan signing a total waste of time, why should we give game time to a guy that will be gone in 5 months? Waste of time and money when it could be spent on better things such as new deals or permanent signing.

Alfred Finnbogason could be on the move despite the noises being made by Heerenveen this month that he will stay until the summer. The Dutch club are about to complete the signing of Anthony Lurling from NAC Breda, clearing the way for Finnbogason's departure.

We can only hope!

ah ffs not this pish about finbar again. WE ARE NOT SIGNING HIM.

Sunderland rejected a Celtic bid for Steven Fletcher yesterday.

According to the Sunderland Echo.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good, let's hope that's the end of the interest in Fletcher! The guy has always been well over priced & over-rated IMO. Never seen the appeal in him in the first place. there's far better out there for that kind of money!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wonder how many of the fletcher haters wer moaning about Peter Lawell not backing starchan by signing yes you guessed it fletcher
Monkeybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Also glad we are not signing him. There was never any serious interest. It is all a distraction so we don't notice or the excuses are ready to cover the in fact no well known big player is going to be signed.I would prefer honest feedback. What about something like; We don't expect to sign anyone of note or spend any big money but we are always on the lookout for the right deal, but if that happens at all it should be a surprise and not the fact we did not bring in a big player. Why don't they just tell it like it is? Sopotcelt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think anyones a Fletcher hater Monkeybhoy, he just doesn't represent value for money anymore. he's coming up on 27 and after a contract will be in 30s. First time round he was 21 and had the potential to be sold on for a big profit as was subsequently proved twice.

Some fans need to make there mind up then keep hearing we should stop signing players for the future we want players that are ready now. 27

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2014 21:37:42
N fans didn't want to sign him back then because he would have a sell on value, if we would have spent the money on him we would have won league, that was the moan going around and still is to this day

Agree0 Disagree0

No doubt about it we'd ave won the league with him. I've said on here before WGS lost the respect of a lot of fans by not standing up to the board and insisting they paid the extra quarter million for him. The difference now is that he seems to be a bit more injury prone and as someone on here said last week do we really need someone who goes around filming themself spitting on people and posting it online.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2014 09:11:16
Ur prob rite about a prob wouldn't want him now not because he wasn't good enough. If he was good enough back then for me he's got better with more experience playing at highest level

So burnley want 7m for Ings! I wish we would try the water for a bit less! He's been very impressive this year think he would be a star for us.

Believable5 Unbelievable9

Sos bhoy,, just looked at his record, his average is a goal every 3.2 games compared to tony watts 3.9 or leigh Griffiths 2.1, is he that much better than a player we own or one who would cost 6 million less?,,, deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

That sums up the championship in england though -! good season and you're valued at 7 million. We were linked with him a few years ago when he was about 19, but bottom line I wouldn't even think about buying players from England in General - of course there is always the exception to the rule, but it's very few and far between getting a good deal down there. They are not as good as they think they are, that's why at every tournament at every level ( under 18's upwards) they get embarrassed. I quite like the lad Troy Deeney at Watford, but you would probably be quoted at least 5 million, - Mark Noble at West Ham, who I'm always raving about, God knows what they value him at. Hooper going to Celtic/Liverpool getting Sturridge for about 10-12 million are about the only bargains I can think of recently! 55 million for Andy Caroll/Jordan Henderson sums it up. Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Does a league make a player better or worse? No we can say our players are worth X amount but they play in a rubbish league! He is a good young powerful CF! I would rather finbogasson but that's not happening! Ings has a lot of potential and is very powerful! I know we wouldn't pay that kinda cash but if he for fills his potential we would get cracking player and make some serious cash on resale!

NL has said we have tried and failed to sign a striker who was "high up our list". Any ideas who it was Ed or anyone else?

Believable7 Unbelievable8

{Ed013's Note - McCormack?}

It wasn't McCormack. it was a Foreign player

Agree2 Disagree1

Hardly devastated. The McCormack/ Griffiths moulds aren't really getting my lips wet tbh. I'd have them, just don't particularly want them.

Agree0 Disagree2

Alfie?

Agree0 Disagree0

I hate to say it but same old garbage we all got fed during the last transfer window about deals falling through.

I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't even a deal lined up. It will just be to justify spending a million or 2 on someone like Griffiths.

Agree1 Disagree1

Exactly - why even come out and say that. The really big clubs never come out with that sort of nonsense, simply because it makes you look small time - the way we act. We have money to spend, loads of players would love to play for Celtic, so find the right ones/just for once go and show some ambition, instead of the usual pathetic excuses, they must think we were born yesterday! Paul

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Lennon has got something in the pipeline and there it is again all the negativity about Griffiths this lad will score goals something our strikers don't know how to do he is a better scorer than what we have at Celtic park right now fact. I can see him and another two in before the window closes but don't hold your breath for this 6 million signing because it was never going to happen.

Agree1 Disagree1

This pish about griffiths being a better scorer than what we have did stokes not score 20 odd goals a season for hibs for about 2-3 years in a row

Agree0 Disagree0

Sam

I wouldn't mind Griffiths if Lennon hadn't tried to dupe the fans again with talk of 6 million pound players. The guy needs to stop filling the fans head with complete garbage.

I sound like a broken record but both Lennon and PL spoke about shopping in the 4 million market when the season tickets were up for renewal in May and we ended up with 4 second rate signings. I would rather they said nothing.

Agree1 Disagree0

Celtic HOPING to complete 3 maybe 4 signings before next Fridays transfer deadline.

Aaron Taylor-Sinclair - 100k
Michael Morrison (maybe now for 400k but we would rather get him on a pre-contract)
Robert Snodgrass - £4.5m
Leigh Griffiths - £1.2m

We are also trying hard to get rid of

Bangura (not in Lennons Plans)
Samaras (no sign of contract being signed)
Ledley (no sign of contract being signed)
Kayal (this probably won't happen to the summer tho)
McGeouch (out on loan)

So potential squad this time next week

Gk - Forster, Zaluska
RB - Matthews, Lustig, Fisher
LB - Izaguirre, Taylor-Sinclair
CB - Van Dijk, Ambrose, Mouyokolo, Fraser, Morrison(maybe)
CM - Brown, Mulgrew, Johansen, Biton, Henderson, Kayal
RM/LM/AM - Commons, Snodgrass, Forrest, Boerrigter
ST - Stokes, Griffiths, Pukki, Balde, Fridjonsson

If we CAN pull this off I would be very happy. give Pukki, Balde, Boerrigter to the end of the season if nothing changes with them replace them in the summer plus we'll have young McGregor and likes coming back hopefully better players and pushing for that first team place.

Believable9 Unbelievable7

It's nice for a change someone who sounds happy at the idea of us signing Griffiths I really want this lad on board think he will be a good signing see in the daily rag that Lennon's eye had been caught by players in the SPL who could this be GMS, Armstrong, May, Soutter it will be an interesting end to this window I just hope we actually sign someone though.

Agree0 Disagree1

We're not after snodgrass at all

Agree0 Disagree0

This is all just stuff from the papers - basically made up/guess work. They can't even decide if we were scouting Kermogent or Morrison at the Charlton game. We have enough squad players, hence loads of the kids going on loan, we need quality, Griffiths for eg is about the same level as Stokes. We need someone a level up, and another top centre half for starters! Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

I also meant to add that I don't think the lad Taylor-Sinclair is good enough, I prefer Robertson at D Utd. I don't know if it's just me but we never seem to be linked with a left back who can actually defend, sure I like my full backs to attack, but in the name of God they need to defend first, and that's what let's Izzy down. Danny McGrain would be worth at least 20 million in today's market, and to be fair Lustig over the last year has got better and better, to the point he is one of our best players now! Paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Griffiths is a better goal scorer than stokes and that's what we need a striker that scores and people keep saying we need a level up rather than players like Griffiths like who? That's not going to cost 6million +

Samcfc1888

If Boerrigter manages to string more than a few games together I will be amazed.
