Celtic are interested in signing forward Aron Johannsson from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar

Possible, but wouldn't this of been a better option to go for in the actual bloody window? HH

Came from sports direct news hardly a reliable source

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not sure how reliable Sports Direct News is. Could be rubbish, but it's a new name that hasn't been mentioned before. Still, he's had a decent start to the season.

I mentioned him about 2months ago a few times he is wot we need. ajw

Get real guys. We don't sign good players. If he's any good then we'll mess around with any possible deal until another club comes in and takes him. We always do.
We seem to have a preference for poor players. We spend too much money on them and then put them on the bench. Maybe Lenny just wants a bit of company during games.

Happy days- No more debt- 3.76 million in bank and that still doesn't count money for wanyama and hooper - and all this year champions league money. Well done. now give Neil so money to get a decent striker in.

Celtic have reported a pre-tax profit of £9.74m in their preliminary financial results, up from a £7.37m loss in 2012.

Group revenue increased by 47.7% to £75.82m compared with £51.34m in 2012 and the club report cash at the bank of £3.76m against £2.77m debt in 2012.

Income was boosted by Champions League participation last season and Ki Sung-Yeung's £6.1m transfer to Swansea City.

Operating expenses at the club also increased by 15.2% to £62.71m.

The Plc's figures, reported to the Stock Exchange, cover the year ending June 2013 and include the club's Scottish Premier League championship win and Scottish Cup final victory against Hibernian.

Celtic also participated in six home European matches, four in the Champions League, after reaching the last 16 of the tournament for the first time since 2008.

South Korea midfielder Ki Sung-Yeung was sold during the summer 2012 transfer window to Premier League club Swansea for more than £6m.

However, Celtic spent £9.66m on new signings, including a permanent deal for goalkeeper Fraser Forster on his arrival from Newcastle United, and the transfer of midfielder Tomas Rogic from Central Coast Mariners.

Celtic also signed a new three-year shirt sponsorship contract with Magners and celebrated their 125th anniversary with a historic victory over Spanish club Barcelona in the group stages of the Champions League.

I know everyone is wanting the likes of Wanyama and Hooper replaced like for like but surely if it was that simple it would have been done. Personally I’m still waiting on Larsson being replaced if we are going down that road.

Ed – do you know how much Larsson was on a week during his time at Celtic

I think my point is, if Celtic bring in a faddy dabby do striker who breaks the wage structure then it creates a problem with the rest of the players. Think there is going to come a time in the not too distant future when Celtic will have to look at their wage structure if we want to continue competing in Europe and attract a better quality player.

It must be difficult finding a balance considering the league we play in but looking at the figures today, they seem to be doing a good job.

I watched the PSG v Monaco game at the weekend, 2 £50m players on the park and it was boring to say the least ~ Mrs E {Ed007's Note - Larrson was on £40k a week plus bonuses in his last CFC contract.}

I'm not sure if 40k is correct, think it was at an estimate 28k with Celtic bringing out his own brand which was sold in Celtic shop plus in his contract was a benefit match whom we played against Seville.

Big Jason {Ed007's Note - There was no mention on any benefit match in the contract, the contract included a final loyalty pay-off of £1 million which the board sneakily got the fans to pay for with a ridiculous testimonial against Seville. Remember he had stated he would retire back to Sweden when his final contract expired, and we all know how that worked out.
Believe me, he was on £40k a week and it was widely reported at the time of him negotiating the deal.}

Ed is correct he was on (at least) 40k a week. I actually think it was closer to 45K, as I clearly remember Roy Keane getting 60K at Manchester United and it 'only' being 15K more than Henrik. Henrik himself was quoted around the same time as saying he could earn more elsewhere, but the differences involved were not so huge and that he was very well paid at Celtic. Jean-Pierre Laguerre

Agree0 Disagree0

Larsson's wage was £25k plus Bonus. As it stands now Scott Brown is the highest paid player (basic salary) Celtic have ever paid to a player. {Ed007's Note - Don't be so stupid, no wonder you never left a name. Chris Sutton was on £30k a week for a start.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed no namers shouldn't be allowed a say/post in a ideal world, ., .kbarry

{Ed007's Note - We are working towards that mate, and eventually it will only be registered users who can post, vote on polls or win prizes etc. We are doing it on the Man Utd, LFC and Arsenal sites just now and it has cut right down on the garbage. If a The Rangers/Sevco/Newclub's fan wants to post then that is fair enough but all the childish anonymous trolling will be stopping.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thomas Graveson was on 35-40k a week. Balde was handed a 30k a week contract by O'Niell before he left aswell. Spent 75% of that contract training with the youths.

The game against Barca next week is being shown across the UK on ITV1.

Jungle Bhoy.

Believable9 Unbelievable4

That's a terrible shame Jungle Bhoy. It'll let EVERYONE see that we don't have a decent striker and show just how poor a side we are at the moment. I'd rather we kept it quiet for a while to see if we can improve first. Never mind.
