absolutely buzzin for the game the mora we all know barca r the best team in the world and mibi even the best ever but we couldnt get a better time 2 play them imo no puyol, alves, busquets and mibi pique aswel so make shift bak 4 which tbh is leaking goals every game and with our pace in attacking a genuinely think we could score 1 or 2 its just keepin them out up the other end espec wae the wee man on form as always but am quietly confident we can cause a shock. Barca arent the best team in the world... They CANNOT defend.

Danjam

Agree0 Disagree2

They are when a team can score 4 against them and still not even claim a point. Brazilian teams are naturally weak in defence but have produced some classic teams and players for thier attacking superiority.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you can score more than your opponents then defending means jack, barca are the 2nd best club on the planet after celtic,.,.kbarry

Agree1 Disagree0

Danjam a agree they struggle 2 defend but attacking theyr the best team in the world no doubt about it however many u score against em they wil score more as they showed against deportivo at the weekend and a few weeks ago against sevilla bein 2 nil down and bein behind against spartak

Just read that some Celtic shareholders are putting forward a motion at our
AGM next month to go it alone with shirt sponsorship.
They disagree with term "Old Firm" and feel Celtic should be able to attract
a major sponsor on our own.
The Tennents agreement runs out next season and I feel Rankers are riding on our shirtails as they get same deal as Celtic even though our profile is miles higher with Champions league exposure.
What do you guys think? Timalloy

Believable29 Unbelievable7

Load of tosh the sponsoring company decides who they do buisness with.why would a company risk alienating half of their customers? and a hardly think having the biggest fan base and stadium attendences in scotland means Rfc are riding on anyones shirtails.anyway directors have already dismissed this notion as bad for buisness ie bad for Celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is there not a ban on advertising alcohol anyway, so Celtic should target a company or product that will maximize the income through ECL exposure

Have always hated that 'Old Firm' garbage. That label suited journalists who would lump the clubs together for their own means and 'alienating' half the population is a pretty narrow minded and antiquated view.
Celtic (and Rangers) have their own identity and should attract sponsors on their own merit and appeal.
The major cities of the UK that have 2 or more huge clubs never go down that road and it is patronising and primitive to continue to amalgamate a co-operative that no longer exists anyway.

Jungle Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

It is a catch 22 Timalloy. If either goes it alone then it leaves the other one as the sole recipient of the sponsorship deal.I would assume we are getting a better deal on the exposure front,i would be surprised if Mr Lawell has not seen to that......... green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

The reason sponsors want both celtic and rangers is because alot of fans would go out their way to avoid a rivals sponsor i.e the suggestion to boycott of sports direct if mike ashley bought shares in rangers

Agree0 Disagree0

How much do Celtic get of Tennets a year ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Both get 1.5 million a year ... tennents made it clear they wouldn't sponsor one without the other i don't think it would matter to them what league their in as long as their fans buy the tops and lets be honest their fans probably give more world wide tv exposure on programs like crime watch , football hooligans and cnn than we do

Agree0 Disagree1

Green Jhedi, I would hope Lawwell has structured sponsorship deal on our higher profile and thus more money. But I and others still feel we are subsidising Sevco as well in div 3. Timalloy

Agree0 Disagree0

Jhedi the deal was done in 2010 so unless lawwell had a crystal ball i wouldnt think so but who knows next year or maybe tennents will walk away we just need to wait and see

Agree0 Disagree0

Every fan should pool as much as they can and sponsor the team that way....

Agree0 Disagree0

I have said for years that alcohol sponsorship has no place in sport or with CFC shirts. IMHO it's unbecoming and lacks class. Put a charity name on the front of the shirt or show real class and drop sponsorship on the front of the shirt. It completely ruins the look of the shirt in any case. I ask you what other item of clothing belonging to you would you accept with the name of a company all over it! 1.5m is a lot of money but I think we are selling our souls when we accept a mediocre brand on the shirt and moreover a brand which has got nothing in common with sport. Rant over! Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

Heard that buckfast was interested in a sponsorship deal ... to try exploit the gap in the market of the young players that are still slipping throu

Agree0 Disagree0

Tim i think we will always have to share shirt sponsorship with them ,as long as the sponsor would suffer if they ignored one half . and that will always be the case if the product being advertised has scotland as its main market place . one way round it would be to attract someone of the magnitude of apple or microsoft. thats just 2 examples there are hundreds of global companies who wouldn't give a toss about losing rangers supporters custom . as for the charity idea , very noble but not going to happen , that money pays a couple of good players wages.. personally i'd go for microsoft . you cant really use a computer without them. so every time an ostrich logged on they would be reminded they are backing celtics sponsor.. shamrock

Agree0 Disagree0

An international sponsor would have less exposure to the goldfish bowl effect of Glasgow and would work as Celtic is a world wide brand...

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont forget oldco had mcewans sponsership and we had cr smith we need to be a seperate entity as they are a new club and 3rd division at that
