Henrik Larsson will be appointed as the next Celtic manager. Expect an announcement next week. Lubo Moravcik also being mentioned as Larsson's assistant. Garry Parker may yet stay.

Believable10 Unbelievable32

What does Gary Parker actually do at celtic?

Agree2 Disagree0

First Team Coach.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get Parker to France, he doesn't seem to bring anything to the club!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not going to happen. Henrik himself knows he is not ready for the job.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will be amazed if any of your 3 predictions are correct. Larsson hasn't justified being given the job. Lubo deserves it as much as Larsson you could argue, simply because you are only basing it on him being a great player/cult hero. Parker will obviously go with Lennon to his new job(whenever that is) - it's not as if he's associated with the club outwith joining Lennon. The only name that the press have come up with that excites me is Oscar Garcia - he didn't spend a bean at Brighton and still did well. I want the whole club infrastructure to improve, I want the kids to be able to control the ball better, much much better. Our ball retention is a disgrace, technically we are very average. I would go for Bielsa/Tuchel/ with Collins/Billy Mckinley assisting, maybe Garcia. Something imaginative/visionary. I watched that Scott Gemmil with the Scotland youth team - it was like watching Wimbledon 25 years ago, those Celtic kids are being wasted with him, all they did was kick it up in the air and hope for the best. He just stood at the side shouting and shouting and shouting for 90 minutes, I couldn't make out a word he was saying, it was complete madness, and he had that Wotte beside him. Holland won 5-0, which was no surprise. Lawwell please do something that will (for once) blow us away, in a good way!

Agree3 Disagree0

- Sorry I forgot that Bielsa had agreed to join Marsielle after the world cup. Someone/something like that though would have been amazing. What about an older figure like a bielsa, with Stevie Clarke as first team coach, that would have been 2 visionaries. Please god we get something much better-my nephew has had my season ticket for more than a year. We have good players at the club, we need more good players as well, but I think the coaching/application is very very average. We should be doing double sessions every day, working with the ball!

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree. We're currently sitting on 3IAR with no one to challenge us for the title next season again. Now isn't the time for risks, show sole ambition with who we appoint as manager. I've said all along that if we didn't bleed in youngsters n consistently invest in the playing squad over the 3 yrs that lot have been gone that they'll walk back into the top flight n win it first time of asking. Just hope I'm proved wrong!

Agree0 Disagree1

Stevie Clarke ticks all the boxes for me.Plenty of experience as a coach and he is tactically very aware.Seems very popular with players and plenty experience of European football and European players. We need to get our skates on quickly though as his reputation in England is good and I think he will be snapped up soon!

Agree0 Disagree0

If we don't employ an EPL failure or Jackie Mac, I think the board will come up with someone we never heard of before, or at least never mentioned as in the running .

Agree0 Disagree0

Not always a bad thing. Who had heard of wim? And I remember at 1 point we were looking at hiddink before he became a big name

Garry Parker has told a member of lennoxtown's administrative team that the current management team, including himself, will not be at the club after the summer. this is due to a standoff between lennon and lawell over the signing policy at the club." Posted this at the start of the year and was shot down as talking absolute p!$h. particularly by junglebhoy33. maybe take the green tinted goggles once in a while. Lennon done a very good job considering were the club was but also think it is time for a fresh approach as this season has been stale. probably because the all knew they were leaving in six months time!

Also hearing that keane being heavily talked about.
Hope not!
DD seems very keen to go down this route

Believable4 Unbelievable29

Think that would be a big mistake.

Agree1 Disagree0

We would have a very small squad this time next year if R Keane gets the job .

Ed am hearing now it WILL BE Henrik, posted earlier saying he said not now, but taken out of context, bookies have it spot on!

Believable21 Unbelievable21

Not Larsson, we need managerial and coaching experience. Stevie Clarke is my pick.

Agree1 Disagree0

It's got to b Steve Clarke in my opinion but I'm in no doubt the board will yet again look at the cheapest option so on that basis I would prefer Mackay or McNamara rather than King Henrik or god forbid Owen Coyle

Larson is a legend but, can he take us to the next level. Don't think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope it is not Larsson. We only need to look at the new team playing at Ibrox to see how a former playing legend can become despised and ridiculed as a manager. His time may come but we need an experienced manager with a successful track record to take us forward next season. I would not be unhappy with Clarke, Mackay or indeed Moyes as a successor to Lennon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with liah Smit. The club shouldn't be used as a stepping stone to blood in managers. The Celtic job is a cv booster especially at times like these where it's considerably easier to win honours. Our club should be fronted by a cultured manager who has a good track record preferably with experience of competing in Europe. That's best case scenario unfortunately and as we know that option might not be available for what ever reason. Manchester United was not the right place for an overwhelmed David moyes but IMO Celtic is a good option for both parties. Moyes regardless of the Man U debacle does have an excellent reputation and proven ability with the job he done at Everton over many years with a budget not close to others he was finishing above season after season. Henrik is the novelty choice should moyes firstly and McKay secondly not be given the opportunity. The 2 of them I would classify as the calibre were looking for. 1 draw back for me is the European experience part pretty much missing but like I said that is the best case scenario so I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't say Mackay is the cheap option he's probably the next expensive after Moyes and Lambert, I think Clarke is the man! Please not Coyle or Keane!

There is a new poll up:

Who would you like to see come in as manager?

To cast your vote simply click here.

If you want to comment on this please do it on the banter page, cheers.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Voted koeman, but would be happy with mackay. Good manager who may fancy a crack at europe, if he knocks back norwich job

Should maybe have one ed for who we don't want as next manager my personal vote for that would be coyle

Agree1 Disagree0

Coyle has been asked before and refused the job he should not be asked again, I think Moyes would be a great appointment and we should be asking him the question 1st.

Agree0 Disagree1

Where is Stevie Clarke? I think he would be a great appointment

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting reading the poll results so far make, extremely high number of voters compared to normal as well:

Slaven Bilic (15%, 76 votes)
Owen Coyle (2%, 13 votes)

Henrik Larsson (11%, 57 votes)
Michael Laudrup (8%, 42 votes)
Malky MacKay (20%, 107 votes)
Jackie McNamara (6%, 33 votes)
David Moyes (22%, 113 votes)

Neil Lennon 100% will take over at West Brom!

Believable27 Unbelievable12

Wherever Lennon goes, Sammy will be his first signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Commons still hasn't signed a new deal either.}

Do we not have a year option on Commons that we will be activating though Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If you read what Commons himself has said over the last month or so Tompo it seems he isn't too sure the specifics of the option, and says he doesn't know if it's just automatically triggered and some of his statements seem to contradict each other.
He's also made it clear in interviews that at this stage of his career he would be looking for some security with regards to the length of his contract to allow him and his family to put down roots, get the kids education etc sorted, he may see this as a chance to have another crack at England and with Leicester City sniffing around it could be a crack at the EPL.

'I don't really want to be saying what should be happening, I think it might just roll into the 12 months and there is no rush to get sitting down.'

'It's the last position I want to be in, going into the final 12 months or six months without any contact from the club about the future. I am hoping over the summer something will get arranged before I do enter the last 12 months of my contract.

'Obviously if someone offered me a three-year deal you would think 'that's me settled, I can get my kids in nursery' and you can start thinking about buying houses and stuff like that but I don't think it is my place to go in there begging for a contract. If they want to keep me, they have my number.'

It's just all seems a bit muddy to me and that's never a good thing.}

Ive had a suspicion for a long time now, the only reason samaras was getting a game was to keep him match fit for joining lennon at new club.

If this happens, just proves lennon is in it for himself. Can not see any viable explanation of playing samaras to suggest otherwise. Youth could of been given chance.

Agree0 Disagree1

Who cares where lennon goes, all that matters is Celtic getting the best manager humanly possible. The idea of Larsson is pathetic, my favorite player was Paul McStay, it doesn't mean he will be a top manager. Some of the other names I have heard mentioned like McNamara/Coyle etc are just as ludicrous - it does not matter if he has a Celtic connection, the only criteria is quality. I would like Thomas Tuchel, I said recently he is regarded as the next big thing in Germany, and just left Mainz last week, saying he couldn't take them any further.

Coincidence Lennon is down in London for talks with unnamed club? Don't think so.

Henrik Larsson is red hot favourite to become next Celtic manager. However, I reckon there's something in the David Moyes rumour.

Believable14 Unbelievable16

I don't see Larsson coming back to Celtic in anyway shape or form. As much as I would love to see him come back and teach the forwards how to score on a regualr basis, but I don't see him taking over as gaffer

Celtic part company with Neil Lennon! Just now ssn!

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Best of luck NL! Of more concern is the reasons being touted re: available transfer funds. Not another dire transitional season, surely! Need to get this fixed pronto and sorted for a very tricky qualification expedition!

Agree0 Disagree0

Seen it comin del said on here ages ago a expected him 2 leave and can't say i'm 2 bothered about it he was obviously wantin away and we are in dire need of a change so am pleased about it

Agree1 Disagree0

Interesting, too, that the bookies knew about this before the majority of the fans!

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently he is to be the new Norwich Manager, but I also heard he was offered the West Brom job. so we need to wait and see what job he gets.

But according to BBC, Malky McKay is in with a shout of being gaffer

Was told days ago Lennon would be leaving in a covered up sacking with not winning enough trophys with no rangers,

He was let leave with integrity in hope on not messing up his hopes of work down South after a long career with Celtic playing coaching and managing, at the time a thought Naa but I now believe this to be very much the facts.

All the best for future Lenny but I'm looking forward to a more entertaining Celtic under new manager n coaching staff.

Agree0 Disagree1

It seems NL was in Dublin on Monday for talks about the transfer budget. We have 2 BILLIONAIRES as shareholders and we're still a selling club. Disgraceful. Once again buying cheap, selling for millions.OK maybe every so often but NOT EVERY YEAR. They talk about the Celtic financial. THE CELTIC FINANCIAL POSITION IS GOOD. Are the fans to pay for it every season.

Celtic interested in Craig Gordon. Don't know how I feel about this one. The guy was an absolute cracking keeper, obviously injury would be biggest concern, but also looks like we are preparing for the loss of Forster with the cheapest option available to replace him and hope this is not an insight into how how we operate for the rest of the summer transfer window!

looking awfully like it .

Agree0 Disagree1

Big fraser will leave for around £8 mill plus add ons either to Arsenal or Barcelona

Craig Gordon is a class keeper but he needs first team games, personally I think Jamie McDonald ex hearts keeper will sign. Decent keeper, won't command a big wage and on a free. that's the way we operate, also expect Virgil to leave for around £5 mill again with add ons
