I honestly think the board will go all out to get a manager that will excite the fans and can attract decent players.

With the Orcs back in the league next year they cannot afford to make another mistake.

I very much doubt it unless DD has the say and not PL. Sadly Celtic only seems like a wee toy to DD.

jonbhoy, the orcs are not back, next year will be their debut season. there is still an awful lot to come out in the wash,as for manager i think it will be safe option ie: lenny , or the fella baxter , wherever he is these days and is always linked. steve clarke is a good coach, not a great manager though.

Apparently Steve Evans Leeds United manager is who we are after to replace Deila.

No harm to the guy, I know he's a Celtic man. but if is true I don't think for a minute this will get the fans back on side! We should be aiming higher than that IMO! But hey we're just fans so who gives a toss what our opinion is.

Christ, the players will be happy with that, theyl be allowed a double portion of chips wae there dinner. can't see it. The board will have to dog deep for a reinforced dugoot.

I am not believing any rumours until I see it in black and white (hope that does not infringe the racist comment rules) in the Sun. At least you know the report will be well investigated and she will have big boo. oops missus just came in, talk later.

The Sun? Seriously? You won't believe a "rumour" unless its in the Sun? / facepalm.

Regardless of source, a rumour is just that - a definite possible maybe.

I have heard from a CFC Community Coach very far removed from the 1st ream granted that the new man will be Malky.

Not for me I have to say. Of the names mentioned I am impressed with what Michael Oneil has done with Northern Ireland but big difference between country and club management.

I know that the new man must pick his own background team but I would like to see a coaching role for Gary Caldwell

I assume fringe players like Allan and Christie will sit tight until they see what is what.

I think the new man has the bones of a good squad and if we can add a bit more fire power then won't be far away from a decent side.

Best of luck to Ronnie. I was never a fan and won't pretend to be sad that he has gone. Think he has acted with integrity and no doubt will come back to haunt us in some pre european qualifier just like Henrik, Brattbakk and Berget! (but as a manager)

Why would Caldwell leave a managers job that he seems to be doing very well to become a coach?

It just can't be Malky McKay please for goodness sake no!

Agree6 Disagree0

20 Apr 2016 16:37:43
Didn't say he would Kev said I would like to see it and for the very reason you mention that he is doing very well!

Agree2 Disagree2

20 Apr 2016 17:14:57
Is the only reason why people don't want Malky Mackay that he got caught out making a racist remark? Or is it based on his performance as a manager? I'm not actually that clued up on his accolades but can remember him getting into bother for making a joke about his chairman who is Asian I think.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - He made a load of really inappropriate and offensive comments in private correspondence that was leaked.}

20 Apr 2016 17:43:21
Malky Mackay will never get close to job.

21 Apr 2016 09:36:43
think MM only had a season or two doing well, then it went to pot when he fell out with the new owners.
dont think he's anywhere near the right man for the job.
id like rodgers, but maybe too high profile for a wee scottish club (because that's what the board want us to be) , but i could see moyes coming in because his stock will have fallen in the minds of the big leagues.

Michael Laudrup's odds have halved in 15mins! Bit of a loose cannon as a manager imo!

Believable0 Unbelievable2

20 Apr 2016 12:35:56
Wouldn't want him after some of the stuff ED was telling us re laudrup's time at Swansea.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Laudrup is just another name that supporters (not just CFC) see as some kind of footballing messiah simply because of his name, they know nothing about these managers or their record/methods. We've got a better manager leaving us than Laudrup so why is he even mentioned, it's simply his name people see and think he must be good.
I wonder how many of the people championing Marcelo Bielsa know that he plays a 4-2-3-1? And we now know that's not good enough for the CFC support, it's 4-4-2 or the sack - and don't dare mention NL's favoured 4-5-1.
Anyway, there were a lot of major problems behind the scenes at Swansea and most of them stemmed from Laudrup himself and some of his ideas and methods, he left them in a terrible mess. Laudrup was sacked after taking an unauthorised personal trip to France and giving players two days off after losing to West Ham, a game that the board felt was very important in the relegation battle. There was stories of players boozing etc on trips, he introduced a bizarre ruling that a maximum of 3 Spanish players could sit together at any table in the club canteen when they had lunch and on a training camp to Dubai the only rule set out to the players was the time they had to be on the bus to go to a 2 hour training session, the rest of the time they could do what they wanted, you can imagine what a crowd of wealthy footballers would get up to.
And that's only some of it, oh and I almost forgot - he refuses to take training if it's raining.}

20 Apr 2016 13:48:35
What about Rodgers Ed I'm sure you said there was alsorts going on behind the scenes at Liverpool?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he was awful, you really do not want him. He was far too busy dicking around with his bit on the side, then on his makeover, to actually do his job. He never once watched the youth teams, so no chance of any youngsters breaking through. Decent coach, but he got too big for his boots and thought he was some kind of football genius. He also has no idea how to target players to suit the way he wants to play so ends up with a disjointed team and squad. Oh and his obsession with passing for the sake of it is truly ludicrous.}

20 Apr 2016 14:22:51
Well thankfully he's still 66/ 1, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I don't think anyone will know their thinking at the moment. The first few names on the board at the bookies are the usual suspects, Even Lennon is 3/ 1 and also thankfully I don't think there's even a tiny chance he'll get offered it. He also doesn't deserve it - he wanted to leave, supposedly because the board weren't backing him, although I was actually told the board where happy to go in a different direction anyway, and were quite happy. Anyway it's not went well in England and now he's saying 5 mins after hearing at Hartsons golf day he wants the job again. We've given the job to people in my opinion who have never earned it. Macari, Brady, Barnes, Lennon, Mowbray and now Ronny for me never merited even being spoken about for the job. Throw in Keane and Coyle, it's a brass neck. O'Neill and Strachan at least had pedigree and/ or experience. The amount of money and time we have wasted over the years fannying about looking for cheap and easy options is a disgrace. The damage that's been done to the club as well. How is it humanly possible to be so backward that these are the only names you can come up with. Some of the other names people are wanting as well, then when they fail they'll be wanting them sacked. My top 3 choices would be Prandelli, Rudi Garcia and Lucien Favre. I'd also be delighted with Yakin or Weinzeirl. That's the sort of standard we need, 1 of them might be interested. I'd pay whatever it took for the right guy then budget everything from there!

{Ed007's Note - That's a top post, Delphic.}

Good post Delphic. Don't necessarily agree with your three - but they're good forward thinking choices that I'd be happy with.

On the Rodgers chat, one thing that always bugs/ bugged me was the chat about how he almost did x y and z with Liverpool. His (limited) success at Liverpool was down to one man, and it wasn't him. He lucked out by having One of the best strikers in the world, in form, and as soon as he didn't, he was found out big time. You need only look to how they are doing now under Klopp to see how bad he had them.

I never knew any of the stories about Rodgers, I'm after a manger who can adapt a formation to suit a squad and the opposition.
I feel good players should be able to do this.
I don't know much about available managers but I would prefer someone with a strong mentality who will have a much greater say in the ins and outs.
Ed do you have any preference/ ideas?

20 Apr 2016 20:18:53
Nice post, I'm terrified Owen Coyle or Malkie gets the job.

Lennon can't be a serious contender, many managers make it a 2nd time around.

Like all the names mentioned and even the St Etienne coach would do.

That's it confirmed that ronny will leave at the end of the season. I wish him all the best. A lovely guy that fully embraced our club. I'm gutted it never worked out for him or his philosophy, I'm gutted the way he was treated by some quarters but onwards and upwards. Just time for Lawell, park, Kennedy, Collins and Desmond to go now.
