Seen lots of reports that Jozo is off, hope not, we need to buy defenders, not sell them, at least not our better ones.

I would let him go can't play week in week out and can't play on the Astro pitches in the qualifying for champs league and although a decent big Centre half I feel we could get someone similar who is fitter.

heard we made a bid for James McLean £5m u heard anything ED.

{Ed007's Note - No mate I haven't but I'd be surprised if that was the fee considering WBA want to sell and they only paid about £1.5 million for him and there's only 18 months left on his contract.}

I heard a fee of 5 mil for James mcClean and Allan Nyon was being considered, Nyon cost WBA 4 mil so if true most of that would be for him I think.

A think we should get a crowd funding effort going to raise the money toget him here! Imagine the disgust if he scored the winner at the asbestos arena.

Brendan had taken Ronnie Dalia team as far as he can This team needs investment at least 4 players are required to come in Brendan has done amazing and we have witnessed a period of our history unfold which will be spoken and celebrated for years to come.
But now is the time for the board to keep moving forward and build on what Brendan is doing.

Happy New Year to every Celtic fan around the world keep supporting our great club special times are ahead could be another treble on the cards and the hotel will take our stadium up a level Hail Hail 🍀🇮🇪.

For those that want quality and want the club to spend frivolously, we are not a club that can spend the millions required for the players you desire. I've read the comments stating this players scrap, that player's past it.

The players have worked hard this year, invincible up until recently, the treble is still on and there's folk on here giving the management and players grief? I'm sure the manager knows exactly what we need to improve, however it's difficult with the financial restraints.

Celtic yielded a pre-tax profit of just under £7m at the end of the last financial year. That profit wouldn't get you a mediocre EPL player! There will be a revolving door in January and the squad will be refreshed. Compper will add quality and organisation in the back line, Lusting will remain and Ajer may be a viable option as the CB pairing. We'll see how the second half of the season pans out! Best wishes for 2018 to all!

Who wants us to spend frivolously? I wish people would stop using that kind of description when fans want us to make the team better.

If we only made £7m profit, then that means if we miss the CL we are circa £30m in the red? I don't buy that.

Agreed, if we bring in 20 million for Dembele I expect us to spend 15 of this in 3 players to improve the squad.

Magicpole if we missed out on CL they would have cut costs make sure we were around break even. The 7 million was in the official accounts how can't you not believe that. Are you saying the accounts are false and the club is be breaking the law and lying to share holders?

Cheers Kev! 👍. I hope we spend £15m, I very much doubt it though. How do Celtic spend £15m, that’s the big question? Difficult, i’d say!

If Caulker is available and he is winning his battles, i’d take him in a heartbeat. A strong no-nonsense CH that can pass on a free, great business. How much would it take to land him?

PS; I’ll leave the Sevco mon to you, Tim! I see you’re doing just nicely over on the dark side!

All the best in 2018, you all! HH.

Too many accountants and Financial Directors making their feelings know on here .
The real problem is despite their definite comments on here, I think most would be like myself and couldn't manage a pub domino team .
We are brilliant discussing how others should do their job, happy in the knowledge we will never have to do their job and so we won't be found out.

Personally think Celtic will struggle to sell Dembelle now and may have to hold onto him long term. Which I think will please most Celtic fans and BR but not the board.

You need to be trying to sell in order to struggle zikos. I’d love him to stay but there’s zero chance because he’s one of the best young strikers in Europe.

Moussa is only 21 and has scored 40 goals with 12 assists in 70 games for us, that's a great record. He had only scored 19 in 64 first team games before joining us, I fail to see how we would struggle to sell him considering his record was worse before joining us and even at that time he had huge clubs chasing him.

I just don't see any teams parting with the money that Celtic will want for him unless its made up of add-ons. I don't see how the fee can be justified when LG is clearly a better striker and anyone that scouts him will know that, not to mention his injury problems. Unfortunately due to the obvious lack in quality of our league transfers to the EPL will always be deemed high risk and especially for the money Celtic are wanting.

Virgil went from 60million in summer to 75million now. Virgil has had a terrible season so far.

We shouldn't condider anything less than 25 for moussa. Boys been injured, he's young and can score goals.

Pulis was on tv saying he was kicking himself for not buying vdv for £6m.
Scout who brought him to Celtic was on saying good things.
The old 'plays in Scotland' negative isn't holding as much water as it used to. Plus the other factor no-one has mentioned. If you fart in the e&wpl you get £100m, this year and the year after and the year after.
So £25m to a Brighton or palace or stoke isn't all that much of a gamble never mind arsenal level who are letting 100m worth of talent walk away in the summer for 0 if they are not careful.

Sorry to burst the Moussa bubble but I agree with Zikos, there is no way we are getting £25mill for Moussa. Since he came back from injury he has not looked the same player and this Chelsea offering £40mill in summer is daft talk. I don't think we will get any bids for Moussa this January and if we do sell him in the summer he would need to have a decent run into the end of the season and I can't see him replicating the form of last season. Maybe £15mill in the summer but not much more. None of the top 8 clubs would risk him, so you are now looking at mid table to bottom table PL clubs and they don't take £25mill punts. there are several forwards out there right now who you could buy for half that figure who have scored more in better leagues than Moussa. Not saying he is not a player with great potential but when we go out and get humped 7-1 and 5-0 in CL company then our achievements in Scotland are tainted so no one considers that anyone in Scotland is any good. Look at Moult from Motherwell. Since 2015 he has turned out 86 times, scored 49 goals. Sold to Preston North End for £500k. In any other league he would be getting bought for millions, but he did it in Scotland so £500k it is. Everyone has an opinion so only time will tell.
