4 million ? there is no way our plc board will spend that on anyone
Agree0

The board could spend 4 million. Its not about how much the spend is its about balancing the books. Europa money and JosH money easily cover it. There is also likely going to be a clear out this summer of the loan players and possibly some of the fringe men which will also generate some cash. So why not 4m or any other sum if the books balance the board can sanction. That is their criteria not anyone elses

If we are close to Rangers in the league in January then we cant afford not to buy a £4million player. if we miss out on the league it would cost us a lot more than that.

FORMER Manchester United kid Danny Webber
could be set to relaunch his career at Celtic.
The 29- year- old striker is currently without a club
after being injured in a pre-season trial stint at QPR.
Webber never made the grade at Old Trafford after
emerging through the ranks as a promising
youngster, and has accepted an offer from Neil
Lennon to head up to Glasgow and prove his fitness.
Released by Portsmouth last season, Webber has also
featured for Watford and Sheffield United, and would
be able to sign for Celtic immediately given that he is
currently a free agent.
The player has recovered from the ankle injury that
wrecked his chances of a contract at QPR.
And, if Lennon believes he has something to offer,
he could win himself a deal at Parkhead.

Shouldn't even need a trial to tell he's not good enough.

Think this is made up, looked everwhere for this and there is no mention off it, plus he's not the type of centre forward that Lennon was describing a few days ago

It's on the evening times website, go and have a look. Certainly not what we need.

Oh well I apologise sorry mate, certainly not wot we need

So he's not very good ?
Agree0
Disagree0
He's 29 now and has been a pro for 13 year. In that time he's player 216 times and for a striker has only scored 45 in total.
He's had 8 clubs in his career and of that 4 were on loan (3 times from Man Utd when he was very young).
He's only 5'9" so not really the target man that many (including myself) believes we need.
Taking all that into acount I think the question that spirngs to mind is why the feck would we need a trial to tell us he isn't Celtic quailty?
Sweet Jeezus!

I know its undisclosed fee but anyone any idea roughly how much we've got back on him?
Agree0

Is the transfer window open? He may be going but this cant be a done deal yet surely?
David {Ed007's Note - Deals can be agreed and put in place at any time during the season, but it can't go through until the next window opens.}
Agree0
Disagree0
Apparently it can go through because Southampton already own his registration. Though I'm not 100%
Agree0

Thanks Ed. Why is the fee undisclosed? That usually means he's being given away
David {Ed007's Note - I stand corrected David, if the loan was made with a view to a permanent deal the player can be signed any time during the loan period. So that must have been the case rather than just a loan deal and they have been impressed enough to buy him. As for the fee, undisclosing them is just a way of clubs keeping their finances quiet, There was talk the other week that Southampton were ready to bid around £1.5 million though.}

Im sure on clyde 1 they said he went for free.... hope thats not the case. {Ed007's Note - It isn't. The fee was in excess of £1 million.}
Agree0

Thats good hope we put it to good use.... few more fringe players away and get quality centre back and tall forward in
