I would be over the moon if we were to sign Marcus Berg from hamburg. It would show a real ambition from the club and maybe Jon Daly too if possible. This way we get a proven European an international striker and a prolific SPL striker. I'll leave the GK and CB scouting to Lenny though lol

POPQUIZ:
Since the inception of the Champions League in 1993 there have been 348 different players who have played in the final.

There have been 30 players who have played in finals with different teams. However, there have only been nine players who have actually won the trophy with two different clubs.

To clarify, i'm only looking at the Champions League era, so that's since the tournament's rebranding in 1993. Also, i am only counting the players who have actually taken to the field at some point for the winning sides. If they were unused substitutes, they're not counted.

So, who are the nine?

I have been told today that Southampton aren't the only team bidding for Hooper, Everton and Sunderland are also watching the situation. If there's 3 EPL clubs interested I think we should look for closer to £10m. Imagine Hooper and Jelavic up from for Everton, I'd like to see that.
With that money we could get Rhodes or fletcher or both. Still need a cb but.
I have also been told to expect a few free transfers. I'd imagine Gordon would be one.
Nickybhoy

Believable4 Unbelievable8

I would be amazed if Everton could afford Hooper. I would suspect the deal has already been done with Saints-they have a press conference planned for Monday.

Agree0 Disagree0

No offence nicky but I'm sick of all this football manager mentality. If we get 10m+ for hooper that would barely cover the 8m+ a season wages that these 2 players would demand, and also the transfer fee! Another 10m! Let's get in the real world. Jon daly! 500k lol

Bowbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

F*@K Jon Daly

So reading on here says Foster not yet committing to the club should we decide to buy him. Why not bring Gordon in on a free and look for a quality young keeper to keep goal for years to come?

Foster hasn't exactly been the fans favourite, although he has done very well in my opinion, but surely we should be wanting players who want to play for the club

For anyone travelling to Norwich the Celtic supporters club down here in Norwich meet in the Temple bar on Unthank road. Also the riverside complex next to the stadium has a few bars so there's a few options for everyone. Hope to see many of you down here.

Where is the best place to park mate?

Cheers

There is a multi storey at riverside complex or a morrisons and retail park at Carrow road. The supporters club is around 20 mins walk from there or two mins in a taxi.

7 MILL go for it, 4 mill replacment and 4 mill cd cost 1mil,we as a club have let our DEFENCE go eg mulgrew bosman big dan bosman adam m bosman cha bosman etc some good deals BUT TO GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL MONEY HAS TO BE SPENT.AT THE BACK.l

Don't know what to make of this but my pal works at wigan as a admin clerk and tex me to say Gary Caldwell wants to move back to Glasgow .

Queens park are weighing up a bid

Agree0 Disagree0

Any chance of texting your mate back and telling gary to stay where he is as hes not really wanted back up here unless he wants to play for hibs,
thanks a concerned celt,kb-bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary Caldwell still better than the centre halfs at the club now?

Agree0 Disagree0

He was a cracking player for us,what's the problem with some people?

Agree0 Disagree0

Always gave 100%

Agree0 Disagree0

A few years in a better league can't do any player any harm, I'd welcome him back, thought he was a decent cb. Also let's not get sucked into the laptop loyals propaganda regarding celtics defensive capabilities of recent times! We've had an excellent record over the last 10 seasons or so, were we not the best defence in Europe last season?

Bowbhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

HE WAS A CRACKING PLAYER FOR US? That has to be a wind up surely. Nakamura was a cracking player for us, Petrov was a cracking player for us, Larsson was a legend for us, Jackie McNamara was a GOOD player and servant for us. You getting a better idea of were you are with your estimation of Cadwell's worth to us. He was no better than an average player for us constantly making mistakes and costing us goals and giving away penalty's! then he rubbed it off on BIG MICK! McManus's departure ended up followed by a sigh of relief. Leave Caldwell where he is please. Went to lisbon to see us rattled by Benfica 3-0 and the 2 goals Caldwell handed them that night would have had him sin died from any decent junior side. He got found out big time at that level

Agree0 Disagree0

Indeed he did always give 100%....100% of sh*te though is still sh*te...!
Iain

Agree0 Disagree0

No thanks...was good for us and has been good for wigan, but dont want any players back from the past, need to move forward...

Sly Spurts understands Southampton are lining up a new move for Celtic striker Gary Hooper.

Southampton have held a long-term interest in Hooper and saw a couple of bids for the 24-year-old rejected in January.

Saints boss Nigel Adkins is a huge admirer of Hooper having worked with him during his time in charge of Scunthorpe and he is keen on being reunited as he plans for life in the Premier League next season.

Southampton are looking to bolster their attacking options for next season and Hooper is thought to remain their top target

Hooper scored 29 goals in all competitions this season and he also won the Golden Boot as the SPL's top scorer as Celtic clinched the SPL title.

Celtic are determined to keep hold of their star striker, but it is understood Southampton are ready to test their resolve with a bid of £7million for Hooper.

Jungle Bhoy.

Believable5 Unbelievable7

They can bid 7 mil if they wont but it would take min 10 mil for celtic to sell him

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think he will go this season maybe at the end of next, i think he'll want to stay for the European football.

St Mikey

Agree0 Disagree0

£7m? I'd take that for him!
Yeah would rather £10m so fingers crossed we hold out for a bit more...
Iain

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think the European footie for 1 season is an issue St Mikey.

Footballers in general have such a short high earning period at the top level that he cannot and will not wait.

If someone said they would easily quadruple your salary what you you do.... tempting!!

Good luck to the boy, he came to us and developed himself and has now earned the right at a shot at the big time and I full respect that

Believable22 Unbelievable2

19 May 2012 16:54:05
Well once again we have a game ruined by a very poor decision by a referee! Although Hearts wouldve won anyways. But how many more times are we going to see referees make decisions which either turn?change or downright ruin games before more is done! Ruined what could have been a great spectacle for scottish football. Onca again football the real loser in scottish game!

Evinguu

Believable17 Unbelievable1

Are you serious.it was a foul.game was ruined by hibs woefully bad defending!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on my man the jammies would have won but a penalty and sending off DISGRACE.

Agree0 Disagree0

If it was in or outside the box it was always going to be a second yellow card for pulling. So the red card was hardly a disgracr

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought the decision not to send off Ian Black for his assault challenge in the first half was unbelievable ( not even booked) but saying that Hearts could have won with about 8 players, Hibs really are shocking.

Agree0 Disagree0

Foul was outside the box. Red card was correct and yes Hibs were absolutely rank rotten. Wee Pat was absolutely raging i bet he bins at least half of that team by the start of next season. How bad is Gary O'Connor btw. He just didnt even turn up. That will bother him for the rest of his days. Or maybe it wont and that is the problem. Would have loved to have seen Hibs win it but they looked a division lower than Hearts today.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hearts were the better side to be honest and deservered their win today a few mistakes by the ref but hearts would have won anyway enjoy your party well played unlucky hibs

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you have all missed the point...Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

In edinburger saunas

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Mrs E it just shows what a fickle bunch football fans can be.

Even Celtic and Rangers fans generally only pack out the ground for big games ( or when they want to wave cards at people). Perhaps it bodes well for the future as some of these floating fans may come back with the possibility of greater sucess should Rangers disappear perminantly or to a lower league. Its a sad state of affairs that people will only support when teams are winning, but a fact of scottish football we have seen for quite a while.Glory hunters is the term that comes to mind!

Anybody think big Jon Daly could do a job for us ...TTTS

Believable14 Unbelievable22

If i see one more person touting Jon Daly for Celtic im not coming on here again. A big clubber with no pace, no skill and cant decide if hes right footed or left because hes mince with either. He scored 22 goals for Dundee Utd this season THAT doesnt mean hes good enough for celtic. I for one want better for my team. We need to be aiming higher than that and am im 100 % sure we will be. If you mean to sign Jon Daly and then another higher quality striker then thats your opinion mate. But then we would have too many and if your suggesting getting rid of Samaras or Stokes to replace one of them with Daly your mad. Stokes if a far more talented(albeit frustarting at times) striker than Daly. Faster, 2 good feet, Scored nearly as many goals and far fewer games this season and has scored and played at europa league level. Daly is not for us mate. Fair play though you are entitled to your opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

I said that weeks ago, depends how far you think we can go in europe. Or you want to concentrate domestically.

Agree0 Disagree0

Daly is to the SPL what Holt is to the EPL

Agree0 Disagree0

Jazzus sir ,twas only opening a wee debate ....Didnt think it would get anyones blood boiling ... Personally speaking thou if he was a Celtic player there's SPL games where things have got bogged down you could throw him on and he'd get you a result but I wouldnt go out and sign him ....Need someone better .....TTTS

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think Daly is CFC class, however he is SPL class..on this seasons showing at least. TTTS it seems you can say what you like now regarding JD without offending anyone as our pal has had it, I saw him announce his departure on another thread after someone else had the temerity to mention John Daly's name in regards to our beloved Hoops. could someone repost the info on how to stream football on google chrome please {Ed007's Note - Here they are:

1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every EPL match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

Just a quick rant about Grant Holt. Celtic should definitely sign him as he would be a perfect partner for Hooper. My worry is an over inflated price tag for a player who has had one good season in the premiership. May I remind people that this is a guy who's scoring record has been achieved in the lower reaches of the English divisions up until this year. He would not sniff a starting line up in any of the top 6 EPL teams so would end up at someone like Villa, collecting 9th place finishes every year. He has one last shot at the big time, and celtic provide that platform for him (Champions League). I'm not dissing the guys talent, moreover the fact that this is a guy celtic should easily be able to sign him up. In old money this guy would be considered decent at best. Don't get caught up in the over inflated bull sh~@ that defines the EPL.........two words Andy carroll. A season before he hit 20+ goals and got sold for 30 million, Newcastle had him on the transfer market for 1 million!!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

2 games in champions league before you go out is not a platform for anyone mate before the long cold nights in Ross county etc, he'll go to another English premiership club. By the way he's been a proven goalscorer wherever he's been and yes a sensational season this year, as has Hooper, which spookily enough has inflated his price, thats the way it works I'm afraid

Hi Ed, just bar talk rumour but a few guys reckon that almost all football clubs, used the EBT scheme Rangers are being hit iwth now. Hate to think that Rangers are tip of iceberg and Celtic may also be brought to book at some point. Mates reckon Rangers are first because of CW cheating the taxman out of PAYE and NI etc. Any thoughts? {Ed007's Note - Brian Quinn advised CFC not to use EBT's so the club never has. When Juninho signed he was paid by this method, CFC cancelled the EBT and paid all the moneies owed to the authorities in full. The Keanes' and Bellamy's wages being paid by Dermot Desmond is totally different, everything was included in their contract and all taxes etc were paid in full, there was no double contract or hidden payments to these players.}

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Don't mean to have a go at you mate....but why can't people, after all this time, understand that EBT's were legal at the time, the difference is that rangers used them ILLEGALLY, namely in the fact that they issued letters to players and staff absolving them of any tax due. for all the other clubs using EBT's (which Celtic are NOT one of), none of them have been found to have used them in the same illegal manner in which rangers have

taco

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely if juninho was paid it at first (even though it was later sorted) then it would not of been in his contract which could also mean he was on a double contract at some point? {Ed007's Note - No, it was Juninho's agent that said his player was paid in this method and CFC refused. Try to keep up.}
