I read today that Neil Lennon might follow up his January interest in Kevin Doyle of Wolves please please let this not be true at (29) I really don't think he's what we should be looking at! He's past his best and even at his best I don't think he was good enough! In fact I really think we should stay away from the English Market people like Jordan Rhodes, Charlie Austin they are over priced for what you get and the wages they would command are ridicules for the quality you are getting.
if you look back on our best strikers from the past like Jorge Cadete, Van Hooijdonk and of course the mighty King of Kings Larsson all bargain buys from foreign leagues who built a reputation at Celtic This has to be the road we go down, Hooper has been a huge success but I don't think the likes of Burnley will let Austin go cheap knowing what hooper is now worth!
thoughts?

Not so keen on Doyle myself but I trust Lennon all the same. I think Rhodes or Austin would be a good replacement for Hooper? although I don't want Hooper to go but his mind has been made up long ago. other additions I would like is Mackay Stevens. been a great player and would improve even more with the celts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree about looking abroad as we will get a better player for less. Doyle has been rotten for years and will be a step backwards, not to mention a kick in the teeth for young Watt.

Your missing the point, he's plan B. The only worry I have is so was Murphy, and Lenny got him in. We need a big strong striker to hold things up while our midfield reach him, like Sutton. green jhedi

looks like a total smokescreen to me - or to tell another club that we have options, while looking at one of their players. Doyle doesn't fit the current profile due to his age. Suspect the Club has another target lined up. Jean-Pierre Laguerre

Hes past it get a younger player from abroad, hopefully its a smokescreen

Cardiff looking to take Super Joe back should they win promotion.

Not sure what valuation of him is there is for him but 5-6m is the figure I'm hearing.

Hope he signs a new contract or if he does leave he deserves a move to a much bigger club than returning to Cardiff who will probably bottle it anyway and get horsed in the play offs

Joe Ledley is one of the last players we should sell and if the rumours are true? We should get him on a longer/improved contract ASAP. Obviously it will not guarantee he will stay - as the lure of the Cash Cow League is tempting - but it will protect our investment.

Ledley is such an unsung hero for us. His passing from midfield can be deadly, and is the best we've got along with Commons. He's also one of the few constantly singing the clubs praises and his desire to extend his stay. I only think a PL team in Europe and a Cardiff playing in the PL could lure him away. I'd want at least the figure mentioned.

Agree3 Disagree0

Ledley is the type of player that wouldn't won't to leave celtic and I hope he doesn't cause he can become a legend if he stays really good player

Agree3 Disagree0

Well if liverpool payed near 20 mill for downing and henderson tell cardiff we want that to i'm sick off the english wanting our players on the cheap

Agree1 Disagree0

I fear the ludicrous decision of not plying him against Juventus when we were at home may come back to haunt us.

Agree0 Disagree0

What a joke. You had Ledley from us "on the cheap" the same as Matthews. In any case, most fans wouldn't want him back, me included, because A. he's not good enough for EPL football and B. he's already dumped on us once.

Redbird

Agree0 Disagree2

I wouldn't want ledley to leave nor any of our better players for that matter but if cardiff gain promotion returning to wales to play in the epl might be an atractive proposition for joe again a lot of our players might fancy trying a season or two with a mid to bottom table side and most are young enough to get a move to the top half team if they impress
We might have a chance at the group stage's of the champions league but it's not garanteed and as much as we fans don't miss or want the zombies
in any of their guises I think some of the players do which is maybe partly to do with some of the lackluster performances these young guys look for motivation the big games bring and might look to move to england in the summer. I just hope if this is the case p. l stays strong and holds out for the best deal possible as with hooper in the last window celtic players won't be sold on the cheap meet the asking price or they stay put

Daily Snail today reporting that Liverpool are interested in Wanyama. A fee of 10 million being mentioned. Would we be happy to see him go to Anfield and is 10 million enough?

BKK BHOY

Believable9 Unbelievable7

If we had to lose him, I'd start the bidding at 10mil.
I'd also rather see him go to Arsenal, as I feel he would get regular games and shine brighter than he would anywhere else.

Agree1 Disagree0

Who cares where he's goes aslong as we get the money that he is worth he can go to st mirren if he wants as long as they meet our valuation

At that price there would have to be add ons involved. I think we might be lucky enough to get an auction started though. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure Rogers paid £15 million for Joe Allen who isn't in the same class as Big Vic. So I would chase a bid in that region. DH

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with GJ and there will be an auction for Vic as he has been immense for us and has been seen by clubs all over Europe.
Shame if he goes as he would have been a legend to build our team around, but in all honesty he strolls through SPL games and I can't blame him for his ambitions; although after all these years, I still feel that Celtic should be enough for any player. Celtic Daft or just Daft I know.

10 millioin nowhere near enough. its time EPL teams stopped ripping us off.

Vic is one of they hottest prospects in word football. Bidding to be serious needs to start at 15 million. if we could get an auction going I expect nearer 20

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree he looks a top player, but think we are delusional if you think a top club will pay more than £10m for him. Name one young player that has gone from SPL to EPL and gone on to great things? Jelavic looked top drawer when he first moved and look at him now? Once those teams get a proper look at these players they adapt their playing styles to nulify them. That is why you see teams like Norwich top of the league after 6 games the season after promotion, but fighting relegation after Christmas. Top coaches and top players in that league- if you are not one of them you get found out very quickly. Might just sneak £10m, but I suspect less with big add-ons should he be successful.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point DH Allen was 15 million and I don't think he is anywhere near as good. Having said that, LFC have wasted a lot of money recently so maybe BR sees Vic as a possible 'bargain' signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is not good enough to play in the prem, championship at best, worht maybe 3m at most.

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt wether Brendan Rogers believed Joe Allen was worth £15m but the fact that Swansea are a prem team means they make enough money year in and year out to knock back £10m bids. We play in the SPL where the winners get peanuts and the rest of the teams also make a pittance. We are not guaranteed CL football every season and therefore can't knock back huge sums. Everyone with a basic knowledge of football can see that Vic is better than Joe Allen but we are over a barrel in terms of commanding transfer fees
