Any truth in aldo de nigris still being on our radar?

Think Lennon has overlooked him as he'd cost around 3-4.5 mill seems to be looking for a bargain buy around 1 mill hence Mphela Best and other average strikers we've been linked with. De negris scores for fun and if we'd just pay the sum his value would double in a season easy. Be another missed opportunity with the likes of Pavyluchenko, Huntelaar, Dzeko we all scouted years back that have sold for mega money

Davis is an average player thats why nobody from england was interested in him and jelavic is vastly over-rated, i agree with the other poster hooper is a superior player, speed, movement and finishing, better in all departments

R*****s winning the league last season doesn't tell the full story on who's the better team. In the majority of old firms Celtic were far superior, 3 clean sheets in 4 SPL games and beat yous in the Scottish. Your luck will run out this season :)

unfair to compare jelavic and hooper as they are completely different. one is a battering ram and the other is about speed and movement but both are quality. also hooper had the 4th best goals/game ratio in europe behind di natale, messi and ronaldo so if hes fit all season he will score well over 30

However, I think you are all for forgetting that Kenny Miller finished top goalscorer in Scotland even though he left in January. Jelavic is head and shoulders above anyone in the SPl. Hooper is a greta striker too but I reckon Jelavic is defo the best all round striker in Scotland. I maybe biased though but he can head, score with both feet, which includes overhead kicks. Never seen Hooper do that. What is FACT is Rangers are champions and Jelavic coming back from injury won us the league. How many games did he win for us compared to Hooper after Xmas ?

hi ed, any truth in the rumour about the belgian gk walking out as he refused to play in tomorrow's friendly at cardiff even though he had been selected. {Ed007's Note - He rejected the offer to come on trial}

Official site saying he's not rejected anything {Ed007's Note - The player himself and his agent have both said basically he is too good for a trial, he has nothing to prove. It is on various news sites.}

I live in Newcastle. Big rumour down here is that hooper is in talks with Newcastle . I hope this is not true. Anyone heard anything?

Just what i heard and i think they are after 2 strikers, although i agree that leaving celtic for a mediocre english team wouldnt be the best move

Tbh newcastle wouldnt want hooper not got enough class for the player newcastle are looking for and it would be to much of a step up for him from the spl to the premier league as for it being a step down u joking would love to see the score if newcastle played celtic and lets be honest id be suprised if celtic managed to stay up playing in the pl. Theres no comparison the standard in the spl is about the same as league 1 in england just look how many players have suceeded coming from the spl? {Ed007's Note - Nugget alert!!}

The game is all about money, and the epl is awash with it. Lets hope Hooper is not motivated by money as he is a class player.

Good afternoon ed,

Am down in Cardiff for the friendly tomorrow, And am not gonna mention any names as am not wanting to stir up anything as always I don't come on to spread BS, but I just saw someone in Cardiff shopping centre (capitol shopping centre), a big name who has been linked with Celtic on many occasions through the years and tbh don't see a reason for him being here unless it's to either sign for Celtic or Cardiff or watching the game but only time will tell

This is the same chad evans who asked for 65k as a loan player from man city in jan 2010 before keane was signed

He has an over inflated ego thinks he is better than he really is hence the reason he is with sheff united and not a bigger club in championship or epl

sorry ed this isnt a rumour but i just want to see how many fans think we need a new defender , in my opinion i dont think we do we had the best defensive record in the league last year , so any one that thinks we need new defenders click believable and any 1 that dosent think we do click unbelievable cheers.

I think now with big kelvin in the team that should be us

The first line of defence is your keeper. We definitely need one of them. Hopefully Pletikosa will solve that but if not we better act fast. Zaluska certainly is not the answer, we found that out to our cost last year. No confidence, no presence, doesn't command his box, doesn't control or instill confidence in his defenders etc etc

Think we need to sign someone quality to partner big Kelvin.

Anyone that says we do is being incredibly stupid and unrealistic.

We have, at the moment, TEN players that can play in the CB position for us(Big Dan, Rogne, Wanyama, Loovens, K.Wilson, Mulgrew, Hooiveld, O'Dea, J.Thompson and Toshney) how on earth can you say bring another one in? We need to sell Hooiveld and O'Dea, get rid of Thompson on loan and then we'll be sorted.

We may have had the best denfece but we dont have the best (central) defenders; no one seems to have noticed, that the games where we defended well, it seemed to be the protection given by the midfielders, and even then our defenders had a few howlers....but Its not as bad as previous seasons

I think we've got the makings of a really good defence with the players we already have, could probably do with offloading a couple from loovens, rogne or O'Dea. A decent keepers a must as this will obviously improve the backline. We had the best defence last season despite the Goalie being a bit shaky at times although he did well considering It was his first full season as a regular number 1.

Whoever says Rogne should go is a complete muppet.

I STILL don't understand what people's problem is with Rogne? He's a kid that was forced into the side far to early because of injury problems, performed well before getting injured himself. I personally think it'll be K WIlson and Victor at the heart of the defence, and that'll do for me. Would like to see us getting shot of Glenda and O'Dea right enough.
