Southampton haven't made a third bid:
"There hasn't been another bid," said Lennon said about Saints' interest. "The stance hasn't changed.
"The retention of all my key players is key to winning the title and Gary certainly comes into that bracket."

Release dates for the new 125th anniversary kits this year are:
Home 24th May
Away 3-5th July
Third -sometime between mid to end September.
These dates could change as they are not yet confirmed by Nike and could move later than these dates by 2-3 weeks or more depending on logistical issues around the Olympics and Euro 2012 events.

Hey guys, funny how many people on the Celtic site talk about Rangers players / rumours / transfers, but on all the other sites they talk about their own clubs? No wonder Scottish football is in the state that it is - you enojoy seeing the other team in as much trouble as poosible. Just to make a point to you about all the fans who want Rangers to go bust - where would the SPL, and more importantly Celtic be without them? I can guarantee you that the Sky/ESPN deal will have a clause that will allow them to pull out unless both Old Firm clubs are in the SPL - this is in light of the moves both halves were making over the last few years to get out - the EPL or Championship route and also the Atlantic League they were considering along with the G12 European clubs. We all revel in our rivals demise, but when it comes to the point of ruining the little hope the SPL has left you really have to think about what it best for both halves. Administration is a 10 point deduction which could be tolerated by Rangers, but going bust? RIP the SPL. {Ed007's Note - How can you guarantee what the S*y/ESPN deal said? So you are saying that S*y are guilty of match/league rigging? Nobody could ask for or give any such guarantee regarding a media deal, that would be illegal. That is a fact under the rules of the game. Plus how can any league that splits after X amount of games guarantee that both Glasgow teams would be in the top six? It is unlikely but it could happen, and that again is rigging and highly illegal, nothing is set in stone. }

Heard if the right offer comes in for hooper hes off, hooper wants to compete at tougher level to try brake into the england squad {Ed007's Note - So he left the Championship to move up here and now he is going back to the Championship as it is a tougher level? Every team in the SPL raise their game and effort playing CFC or Rangers, so we have to fight hard in every game to break teams down. Have you watched much Championship football? It is really not all that. Plus not many Championship players get in the England squad. Did you think this through before posting it?}

Agree3
Disagree1
Perfect answer Ed! Although I think teams try a wee bit harder against us, as well we have to beat the refs eh. I believe Celtic are doing good business by holding onto the team to win the league and the treble (I see history happening!). With euro 2012 coming up if our players do well (and with their medals) the prices will only go up for a player. Lennon with the coaches are turning this team around back to the glory days! We have a squad that can be great(with some additions) and he is onto something. Stating a 35mill price tag is him saying we are no longer in a cut price deal but we should be paid proper, and he is making a stand for Celtic that times have changed. He wants to build a team to be among the Europe elite (look at the quality we have, hope they stay together for a few years)and I have total faith in him cause he knows the true Celtic way and how this team should be regarded. I can only hope the board gets behind him.
Just a Celtic supporter's opinion coming out of Canada....YNWA {Ed007's Note - Thanks mate. Always good to hear from overseas fans.}

I just replied to a post on the main page that said southampton are one of the richest clubs in the world lol!!!
these guys are seriously mad, i mean why would anyone even come out with a statement like that??
anyways, regarding the 35m tag that Lenny put on Hooper. we all know it was in jest, but at the same time, this is the first time that i can think of that anyone from Celtic has stood up for themselves and slapped an outrageous price tag on a key player.
you see teams down south doing it all the time, and this at least shows that Celtic are no longer going to be brushed aside with insulting offers for our players.
liverpool set a precedent when they paid 35m for a dud
Agree7
Disagree1
I reckon if Hooper consistently puts in good performances and manages 20-30 goals this season he'd have an outside chance of making the England squad as he's a different kind of player from the usual suspects like Rooney and Crouch.
Joining a new club might disrupt his form and given how much media and TV time Celtic get compared to Southampton staying here probably wouldn't be such a bad idea if he's any dreams of playing in Euro 2012.

Not somebody we've been linked to and Attacking Mid being one of our strong positions, but surely Nick Powell from Crewe is one for the future? Just been named Young Player of the Month in L2, capped for England's youth teams, played nearly 50 senior games and he's only 17. BB calm yourself down son. i was only posting up what i received in a text, and then my thoughts on it
and if you were to think about it logically, if hooper was top leave, the board know that they would have to spend decent money to replace him and appease the supporters

Believable7
Unbelievable14
Not at all, i'd see it as a gamble. at least we know what hooper can do for us
Agree17
Disagree2
Im thinking that way as well mate. Reason for thinking this is that Hooper wont go for any more than 8million from celtic because of the amature league we are in. beeter off keeping him because in the long run he will get the vital goals which will get us in the places where we are meant to be such as the champions league which will generate money for the club.
Agree8

Is hamdi a good player
Agree1

At this stage in the season when we hold a narrow lead a proven goalscorer is vital. A new player might take a while to fit in and if anything we need to strengthen this area. But I do think a summer move is on the cards sadly
Agree6

Totaly agree with the post above that would be very big gamble, we need to a cf and not get rid of our best cf. i think if the board want to sell hooper then they must wait to the summer or we could be in trouble!

Get a grip, if we couldn't "afford" diawara at 2.5M how the hell r we ment to get someone at 6M?
CB
Agree3

Hooper is one of the best finishers I've seen at parkheed for a good few years, but....... He was also a gamble for 2.4mil, that paid off big time!! We probably need another striker to c us through till the end of the season incase hooper or stokes gets injured? With every price there is a gamble (lol bangura)
Agree3
Disagree0
Who says we couldnt afford him? we didnt even bid for him
Agree5
Disagree0
It wasnt a case of us not being able to afford 2.5 million. We had a first refusal of the guy for 2.5, we bid that, which got accepted only then stuttgart went in with 4-5million, and our bid was obviously not enough. We have money to spend but if you look at the team, the players we have cost little with massive potential i.e izzy, kayalm hoops, vic etc.. We are not a selling club and as Lenny said only stupid money will tempt him into thinking about selling hooper. I fully expect us to land a striker and keep the spine of our team!

Hi ed. I read in the Irish Star news paper that baba diwara sign for sevile for 2.5 million. Baba said he even had to take a wage cut to join them because Celtic were offering bigger wages. He said that Celtic and the club couldn't agree a fee. I can't believe if wee let this guy go for 2.5 million. It's crazy. He's said he is looking forward to play in the best league in the world. Southampton ready to test our resolve with a rumoured bid of £8m for hoops starting to worry now ED....jiggythetim
Believable9
Unbelievable15
Where u hear this 8million?
Agree2
Disagree2
I'm worried as well but we need him til summer and we don't need that money now, we could hold out for 10 from a club mid/top of the table of the EPL. The board just need to pay up regarding wages and reduce the amount of players getting paid not even to sit on the bench.
Agree7
Disagree0
Southampton may think they are testing the resolve of teh club with this but I think not. 8m is very attractive for a player who we bought for substantially less, however I think unless all of the cash is up front (which I doubt) then I don't see the club being interested.
Hooper has also said he has no real interest in Southampton, and a new deal for him is on the cards in the Summer.
I'm convinced he wants some medals with Celtic before considering moving, but for me the question would be if he goes who do we bring for 10 plus goals in the remainder of the season?
January is not the time to sell major assets, but unless a major Premiership club come in with a hefty bid, this is not going to happen IMHO. Open to other points of view as always.
Agree9
Disagree3
If hooper did leave the only player i would be happy to take his place would be jordon rhodes!
Agree2
Disagree8
I'll tell you what, if celtic do decide to let him go in january, the board better pull off a major signing. this could be the difference to whether we win the league or not, and if we don't do it this season because we sold our best striker there will be a revolt.
rangers should have been hammered into the ground 3 years ago, and if we don't do it this time, my season ticket of 20 years will never be bought again unless there is a board clearout. but hopefully, with the position we are in financially and league-wise it will never come to that
Agree8
Disagree1
Southampton dont ever spend big and for Hoops to leave, never mind the tapping up in the press i,e treble wages. It would need to be into double figures especially mid season. So no I think the DR are working overtime takes the heat off Ibrokes sorry everything must go, but nobody wants it lol. If they think Hooper is 6 Jellyfish must be at least 4 inc add ons ha ha.
Agree3
Disagree1
8m is a great return on a player who could break a leg n be out for a year.also agree that the money must be re-invested as lenny has shown to be very astute in the transfer mkt(banguera apart) i think the boy ibrihim might be the key to creating more chances and the young boy watt is coming on leaps n bounds.this is the way we gotta operate these days im afraid.but lets get one thing straight "in lenny we trust" isnt a flippant remark so win the league or not he must be allowed time to gell these kids we will enter the cl stage at 3d qualifier anyway.green jhedi

I may be wrong but I think Hooper will go this month. It will be purely down to money, both for the player and the club. It looks like Sounthampton are going to be hard to shake off and if he can double or treble his wages and if the club can get £8+million for him then I reckon it'll be too hard to turn down. But I sincerely hope I'm wrong.
