How do you know this?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yakubu scored 17 league goals in an awful blackburn team that finished 2nd bottom of the epl. the only players to score more goals was aguero (23) rooney (27) and van persie (30) who all play for top 3 teams. don"t think he'll be short of offers if he can leave on a free. unless you know something i don't, i'm not buying it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't want him to be honest. He'll be looking for his last big payday anyways/

Agree0 Disagree0

I was unsure about Yakubu but I am warming to the idea. He is only 29 (30 in November) and I had no idea he had scored 17 goals this term in the EPL. He would definitely bring power and pace and he knows how to score a goal, it may be the extra dimension we are looking for.. On the con side I am concerned that he could easily pick up injuries and he may think himself "too big" for the SPL in what some ridiculous Englishmen call the equivalent of their league 2. There are some African Bhoys at the club so that could help him settle. I have to say I would be pretty excited about him joining us as he is not past his sell by date, his current form is good and he is fit. We can possibly offer him much more than he appreciates or is aware of. Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently signing a 5 yr deal with Southampton, number 17 shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance of this happening. And have to say I am not bothered.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have him in a heartbeat but doubt he'd come to us.Others in queue he would find more attractive in a financial sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would honestly love it. always been a great plaayer and think the cl could pull him our way. definately the kinda player we could do with

Agree0 Disagree0

YAKUBU....POWER & PACE??

He has no pace. He was Everton's top scorere a few seasons back and Moyes got rid.... something not right about him if you ask me..... I know nobody did ask.... but :-P

Agree0 Disagree0

I mentioned yakubu weeks ago on this forum and i stand by what I said. he would run amok up here. unfortunately other managers down south knows this too and will sign him. shame as i think we are screaming out for a player of his quality.

TonyBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes that's right power and pace. He scored 17 goals this season in the EPL. He did not do that standing still. He is a powerful guy. Admitted when he carries a little weight and he is not a Michael Owen in his prime but I assure you he would score a lot of goals in the SPL. Did you have anyone else in mind? Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't realise he was only 29 (just checked) i think he would do the business. But again his wages would be the stumbling block. At that age he would be looking for a nice 3-4 year contract on top dollar

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton got rid of him as davie moyes was convinced he had a false D.O.B and was a lot older than the 28 he is saying he is now!

Agree0 Disagree0

He is 29 as far as reports go and where is the information on DM being convinced he was much older than he said he was, moreover is there any real evidence? If so please enlighten us further because its very interesting and probably a criminal offence. In any case if he was 38 and scored 17 goals in the EPL I would still have him. Roger Milla from Cameroon was the oldest player to play in a WC Finals (1994). I think he scored a few goals and he was forty two at the time. Its all academic in any case as IMHO he will probably be looking for a huge last contract and CFC quite rightly wont entertain such demands. Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

Have him in a heartbeat, don't care about the age! If a player is performing well, what does it matter?

Appellate Tribunal Statement
Wednesday, 16 May 2012

The Appellate Tribunal will give its full reasons in writing in early course. However, in summary, it considers that:

1. It was competent for Disciplinary Tribunal to impose the additional sanction of prohibiting registrations of any new players of 18 years or older for a period of 12 months.

2. The Disciplinary Tribunal was correct to determine that the conduct involved - especially the deliberate non-payment of very large sums, estimated in excess of £13m of tax in the form of PAYE, NIC and VAT - was attributable to the club as a member of the Scottish FA.

3. The Disciplinary Tribunal was correct also in holding that the maximum fine available for this breach was £100,000, and on its own was inadequate as a punishment for this misconduct. It was therefore correct to select an additional sanction.

4. The sanctions available included expulsion from participation in the game and termination or suspension of membership of the Scottish FA, which would have had a similar effect. The Appellate Tribunal observes that serious consideration was given by the disciplinary tribunal to imposing one of these sanctions, which would have had obvious consequences for the survival of the club. The Disciplinary Tribunal rejected these as too severe and this Appellate Tribunal agrees with that conclusion.

5. Although the Appellate Tribunal has listened carefully to the representations from Rangers FC about the practical effects of the additional sanction, it has concluded that this sanction was proportionate to the breach, dissuasive to others and effective in the context of serious misconduct, bringing the game into disrepute. In particular, the Appellate Tribunal recognises that the Disciplinary Tribunal decision does not affect Rangers’ ability to extend the contracts of existing professional players, including those whose contracts will expire at the end of this season and including also those currently on loan to other clubs. The Appellate Tribunal observes that Rangers FC have over 40 professional players in this category.

Therefore, the Appellate Tribunal affirms the decision o

Should the club wish to take the matter any further, FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber is their next port of call, followed by a potential case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Please please please let them appeal and take your gripe to FIFA & EUFA.....
They will have no problem banning them from WORLD football for their cheating.

Agree0 Disagree0

I see Jardine etc. are now moaning about the club being punished for the actions of 2 individuals. Excuse me, did I miss something? They were the owner/MD of RFC, thus, the voice of the club. Did not see a mass walk-out of the board when they seen what was going on. (or did DM & CW collect the tax/nic/paye etc and promise to hand carry to the tax office?) No, they were all quite happy to tag along as RFC cheated the system which everyone else was apparently complying with, and spend spend spend money which was not theirs to spend!

Agree0 Disagree0

Quite honestly they are getting off lightly considering the level of their wrong doing but hey we are Rangers so we can behave in any way we wish with impunity.

Agree0 Disagree0

Next we will have the two contract cheating scandal come out, AFTER the Tax Case is made available to the public.....then it is Bye Bye from WORLD football.

I see two things happen, they wrongly take the SFA to court, FIFA/EUFA step in, remember they do not like their associations challenged, they will get involved and throw the book at them
secondly they will get done for the double contracts again FIFA/EUFA take a look and lean on the SFA to take serious action.....either way BYE BYE

Agree0 Disagree0

Unbelievable. The SFA does have a spine after all!

Agree0 Disagree0

Same old " a big boy did it " excuses didn't hear any questions asked when the money was getting chucked about to buy their tainted titles, if they're moaning now wait til next wk after the panorama program the s**t will hit the fan big time all sorts of cheating, lieing and illegal stuff going on under Murray

Agree0 Disagree0

Check out the shame's site....they are deluded. calling to take their case to Eufa...oh how I wish they would.

Agree0 Disagree0

I will start by saying I genuinely think the transfer ban is a fair compromise. It is only for a year, we should accept it and move on. That is my personal opinion. However, the issue Rangers have, and probably the majority of the support too, is to do with consistency in the application of punishments.

Uefa banned Fernebache from the Champions League for a year due to match fixing allegations (Rangers were one stage below that remember - its been highlighted enough times on this page if you can't) and that was it as far as punishment from Uefa AND the Turkish FA (right behind FIFA, Uefa and Italy as the most corrupt governing body out there). Rightly or wrongly NO transfer embargo from their own league or WORLD football ban from FIFA, only one season's suspension from the Champions League by Uefa whilst the investigation took place. Fernebache thought this was too harsh and appealed through the European courts prior to, under pressure, dropping the action before a hearing could take place. They were actually proved correct technically as the Turkish FA chased the individuals involved instead of the clubs they represented and Uefa have not intervened to suggest otherwise.

Hopefully Rangers will not take this any further full stop, despite the Turks setting a precedent of only punishing individuals and not the clubs, because it could have serious implications for the WHOLE of Scottish football if they do appeal and carry it through. Uefa do not like to have their authority challenged and hold the respective FA's responsible for the actions of their teams and players. If it goes through European or more likely civil courts then EVERYONE would lose out if this happened to go the whole way.

The Turkish FA have charged the INDIVIDUALS concerned and criminal proceedings are still in progress, the Fernebache chairman is in jail and certain players already convicted of match fixing have been banned for between 1 and 3 seasons (personally it would have been for life). I would have no problems if that were the case here - justice HAS to at least be seen to have been done and someone HAS to face a severe punishment to stop others following suit. Let it be Murray and Whyte if everything alleged is proven to be true as they are both entirely culpable if that is the case. Throw the book at them. No other chairman/owner would ever overstep their boundaries again if they remotely thought they would be held PERSONALLY liable and could face jail time. The clubs would then be FORCED to operate within the rules instead of constantly trying to find ways of bending them. Owners and chairmen of the top EPL teams are considering reselling the naming rights to their stadia (to themselves BTW) every year to get round the new Fair Play rules. Guaranteed they aren't the only big guns looking at similar dodges either.

If clubs get punished (I am not saying they shouldn't also be mildly censured) and the individuals don't then what is to stop another charlatan taking over a Scottish club and doing exactly the same thing? Currently they can just walk away free from personal responsibility and leave the mess for someone else to clean up, just like Murray (allegedly) and Whyte (definitely!) did. It happens all too often in the real world too and everyone suffers bar the ones DIRECTLY responsible. Remember the banking crisis? Banks went out of business through the financial mismanagement of a few: recession followed, people lost their jobs, pay freezes and cuts for almost everyone else, massive unemployment, and no-one has any confidence in the system of government. Did we deserve that? What about the guilty parties? Goodwin lost his knighthood (only after intense pressure otherwise he would have kept it) but kept his outrageous pension and the other individuals concerned just climbed back onto the gravy train at the next available stop as if nothing had happened. It won't be the last time either until rules are put in place that gets the people RESPONSIBLE by the short and curlies instead of everyone else.

NO Turkish club with players or officials involved in the match fixing scandal has received ANY sanctions for the misdemeanour's carried out by the individuals involved. Uefa have closely monitored the process and appear happy with how the Turkish FA are dealing with it. Otherwise, they would have stepped in and ALL Turkish clubs would likely be banned from Europe and the National team banned from competing in the Euro's (not sure about World Cup as that is FIFA's domain). That is the big stick they beat everyone down with.

When Sion took their case to court Uefa threatened the Swiss FA with a blanket ban on ALL European fixtures and the removal of their registration as a member country if they did not stand up to the Swiss courts and get Sion to either drop the case or accept the punishments previously issued by them. Similarly, threats were also directed at the Dutch FA around the time of Bosman's court proceedings.

I would be careful about asking for the intervention of the most crooked and self interested organisation out there. They will have no qualms in decimating the WHOLE of Scottish football if they feel the legality of their authority is being questioned. You might not think it but by footballing standards the sanctions imposed ARE pretty harsh (ridiculous I know) and the SFA are actually standing firm on the matter (ironically, probably because they do not want Uefa involving themselves) despite being criticised regards perceived leniency as well as being accused of being to harsh. They cannot win in this situation. We shall just have to wait and see where it goes from here. I for one hope it goes no further.

SFA tribunal rejects Rangers appeal

Rangers have had their appeal against a £160,000 fine and a year-long transfer embargo rejected by a Scottish Football Association appeals tribunal.

The Scottish Football Association had charged the club with six breaches of its rules and banned owner Craig Whyte from Scottish football.

Rangers argued that they should not be held responsible for Whyte's actions.

But an SFA statement said: "The appellate tribunal affirms the decision of the disciplinary tribunal

The begining(as Neil so kindly put it,lol)of Justice...well done Livingston,i dare say your pressure helped tip the balance!

Agree0 Disagree0

It would have been nothing short of a scandal if it had been overturned. Justice. And i would love to think its the start of a new era under the SFA. We should get whatever is coming to us if we break the rules aswell. Equal punishments when they are due.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I think the sfa are gutless bunch they say that what rangers done was short of match fixing then they should grow a pair n relegate them they happily done it with Livingston curiously not with Dundee tho oh aye cuz they change the rules as they go along

We should sign Rhodes, get rid of all dross, all that are holding young players back including paddy, McGeough and Twadzik need a chance.

Boot out Juarez, Bangura, Rasmussen, Murphy, Wilson, O'Dea, Cha, Samaras (why have a good worker Rhodes would score? plays as a lone striker and score hat tricks galore).

Goalie and Centre back. Trim the squad right down the league will be a cake walk why waste more wages, we'll do well in Europe but unlikely to win a cup so grew the quality of players give youth a chance and 2 seasons later the money we have saved may go to players to challenge in Europe.

Believable4 Unbelievable10

Most of the post ok but get a grip Sammy has come on leaps and bounds ,have a look at Hoopers 5 goals and see who did the donkey work for him

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with post and 1st reply, Sammy has done very well this season. I think a lot of his hard work goes unappreciated

Agree0 Disagree0

He may not have scored many goals this season but sammy has set up a lot of them personally we need to build a tem around him as he showed in europe he is a class above the rest of our players he is strong, fast, technically good, good passer i dont know how many more boxes he needs to tick. If he could score there would be a lot of premiership teams looking at him

Agree0 Disagree0

This is the sort of post that will have Lawell etc in raptures, no ambition whatsoever as regards Europe. We will be under even more pressure than normal to make the CL group and hopefully last 16 stages purely from a revnue perspective. With the Orcs disappearing into oblivion for a long time where will gap in revenue come from ? Lets stop this penny pinching nonsense once and for all. Yes get rid of the not good enoughs mentioned, but from what I have seen so far Paddy, McGeough and Twadzik will not cut in in the Europa never mind CL. Remember what happened when we tried this skinflint approach before ? We never bothered to sign Steven Fletcher and well we all know what happened next..... !

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with some of that but there is no way I would let Sammy go.

If we get a target man as well Sammy would be a major player on the wing in Europe. Quick enough to play on the break and also still a great out ball for defenders to aim at.

I still want to see what Bangura is capable of. Against St Johnston I thought he was excellent and I think he deserves another season to prove himself.

Mac

Agree0 Disagree0

I for one hope Mr Lawell is in raptures. It means he will stay at CFC for a while longer. Developing young talent, which we are doing at CFC is by far and away the best way to run a football club. A skinflint approach; what does that mean? A top earner at CFC gets close to 30K a week! He can earn in a year what most of us mere mortals earn in a lifetime and all the quotes of salaries are net and usually without bonuses! Twardzik is a real talent, McGeogh looks good so far and Paddy well has he ever had a game in Europe? Some recognition and realisation of the level of remuneration and rewards which CFC can and do offer should be better understood by fans. We are certainly not skinflint and if anything Mr Lawell will be pi****g his pants and shaking his head at such a lack of understanding demonstrated by some fans regarding the fiscal policy which reflects the realities of playing football in the SPL. Of course we could have signed a load of mercenaries and prima donnas in the last 10 years but we could not have paid our taxes had we done so. Sopot Celt.

ive never seen this guy mills so cant judge him but i have to ask is he worth 3mill plus a centre half who was meant to be one of the best in same league , i know he went for 5 mill but it was erikson who signed him and his track record isnt the best ,also that price was inflated because epl teams were supposedly interested , now if it was a swap with say wilson and mcourt and no money then fair enough as that would leave 3 mill for another proven experienced cb which i think we need as with dan and loovens leaving that would leave us with only mulgrew and rogne who is worryingly always getting injured and mills who has to prove to be the quality for a step up to champions league level and not just spl level , now as i said i havnt seen him so he might turn out to be the answre but at 3mill plus wilson i think leicester are laughing all the way to the bank,,,,deep river bhoy

Ed do u think a player like jermain beckford would be a good signing for celtic as he is a big strong lad with unbelievable pace wich apart from forrest, cha and izzy celtic are lacking.what are your thoughts? {Ed007's Note - I've never been convinced by him but I know a lot of fans like him. Wages would be a problem, he is the highest paid player in the Championship. Ken Bates at Leeds refused to sign him when he found out he was on £30-40k a week, he is on at least £25k a week.}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Possibly not him but i still think we need a bit more pace about the team , what do u think? {Ed007's Note - It's not as much pace I would say, it is more a ballplayer with an eye for the unexpected and some flair, dare I say a Lubo type. As an out and out goal scorer Hooper is quality, Stokes is too similar though IMO although Stokes hold up play is maybe a bit better. I have said since last season that we need a big powerful CF up front, just to have that option when it is needed, a Plan B.}

Ed what do you think of the lad Marcus Berg of Hamburg as a potential signing? I thought he was brilliant against us at CP a couple of years ago where he scored the winning goal! 6"2 big powerful! He's out of favour at Hamburg and they loaned him out to PSV last season! Also Hamburg have just signed Rudnevs so that would put him further down the pecking order!! {Ed007's Note - The Swedish guy? I was wondering where he was, I didn't know he was on loan at PSV, cheers. Hamburg paid about £10 million for him and it didn't work out. From what I remember he was a decent young player, he must be about 24/25 now. That would be a decent shout if the price was right for him, but I think there would be English interest if he is available.}

Believable6 Unbelievable1

I think thats a good shout mate, might not be over the 25-30 grand a week bracket and maybe get him for 3-4 million. I watched him play at the U21 European championships and he was magic. Thats what got him his move to hamburg, He played up front with Ola Toivonen who is at PSV and probably influenced the move to reunite them there last year on loan. It might be just out of our reach but its the right kind of thinking, i would love to see him at the Celts. Like you said he looked the b****cks that night he scored at CP

NEIL Lennon has thanked Celtic supporters for their backing throughout the campaign, during which the SPL title was delivered back to its rightful place at Paradise.

And the Celtic manager is urging fans to join him and the team again next season as they bid to retain the championship and reach the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.

It was a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for the Hoops last season as they overturned a 15-point deficit to win the title by an incredible 20 points. And the manager knows that it couldn’t have been achieved without the faithful backing of the Celtic supporters throughout the campaign.

"I just wanted to re-iterate my thanks to each and every supporter who has backed the team this season,” the manager told the official Celtic website today (Wednesday).

“The title win is shared by us all, players, management, staff, supporters and everyone connected with the club.

“Our fans this season have been unbelievable and vital to our success - Celtic Park has yet again been a brilliant place to play football, it has come alive in recent seasons and the reception the players have been given has been tremendous."

“Our job now is to build on this season and take the club forward once again and that is what we will be aiming to do.”

Already, the manager is putting his plans together for season 2012/13, with the UEFA Champions League qualifier looming at the end of July.

His aim is to get the team back into the group stages of the competition, which is where a club of Celtic’s stature should be, and that can only bring more excitement to Celtic Park in the months ahead.

“Crucial to further success are our supporters and it is very important we re-create what we have done this season,” the manager said. “To achieve success we need the atmosphere and vibrancy of a full Celtic Park.

“The colour, noise and energy of our fans is something we are so proud of and we all know when we are at our best, there is no place like it in football.

“The scenes on Sunday were fantastic and it was a massive honour to be part of such an occasion as Celtic manager in front of 60,000 fans. This is what we want to deliver again and this is what we want all our fans to experience again.

“We have played some great football this year and next season we will be aiming to do even better - improvement is what we all strive for. We also have a big test ahead of us as we aim for Champions League football - this is a big ask but its definitely not beyond us and it is a real challenge which we relish.”

The manager declared at the end of last season that ‘this is only the beginning,’ and he and his team were true to their word, winning the title back.

He has also identified the unity which exists between the team and the fans, and it has been one of the great strengths of Celtic. That will be vital again as the Hoops strive to retain the SPL title and make inroads into Europe.

“We want our fans to watch an exciting, attacking Celtic team in a packed Celtic Park full of atmosphere,” he said.

“We need our fans to do what they have done this season and back us as only they can. Together I know we can deliver another exciting and successful season.”

I can't wait for the Champions Lge games.Hope we don't miss out,can you image what the thunder would be like those nights since it's been a while?

Over the last few years I reckon we have had easily a dozen central defenders sign for us. And imo none have been up to the required standard. We need a journeyman pro that can help organize on the park. For me its big Dunne or Jamie Carragher type we require. Also up front I would take W.B.A's Simon Cox £2m being quoted and thats a good deal.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Mulgrew? Rogne?

I agree we need a quality Center Back though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Controversial but i'd look at Caldwell.
I was one of his biggest critics when here but on reflection.....

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish. Mulgrew and Wanyama have been outstanding this season. Rogne just gets pass marks. You've got a point on the rest though.

K-Dot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not sure we need a journeyman, just a proven, good defender.
He’s gotta be strong
And he’s gotta be fast
And he’s gotta be fresh from the fight

Agree0 Disagree0

Rogne is too injury prone for my liking he's been out more than he's been in. The boy Mills looks like he could be on his way . Don't really fancy the boy Dixon as cover for Izzy that's been mentioned would maybe take a chance on David Murphy as cover who's got good experience........DH

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the other replys regarding wanyama, rogne and big Charlie is one of our best, most consistent players now. I like the lad Simon Cox you were talking about, he is strong and a good finisher and when hes had a run of games at west brom he gets goals. Decent shout mate. We could also manage his wages and fee i would imagine.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never would want caldwell back, he must have scored more own goals and cost us so much goals then anyone i can remeber, i think it was him that cost us in CL against real madrid or barca(i forget) when we were gong into pen kicks with 10 min to go he lets kaka walk in too easy and cost us from moving on and beating a huge team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Simon Cox is not the quality we need for an assault on the CL imo

Simon cox is a great player. to be honest not seen much of him at west brom bot on his ireland debutn this boy looked a class act. dont think lenny will sign him but good shout with that one. think maybe a swap deal there would get him and lets be honest we have plenty of players west brom could use that we dont

Looking likely that we'll be signing Matt Mills in a player + cash deal involving Kelvin Wilson. Been reading that we have been linked with Henriksen yet again, but do we need more midfielders? Would Bas Dost be a possibility from Herenveen? If we sold Ki we could probably afford him. {Ed007's Note - Bas Dost is going to Wolfsburg for 7 Million Euoros (£6.5 million). Everton were favourites but it seems they have been outbid.}

hi ed was wondering now that the dust has settled how you would review the season and in particular the manager ,at the start of the season if you offered me the title i would have bit your hand off but the way the season panned out it was very disappointing not to win at least a double if not a treble,can just about accept the killie result but to lose to hearts was criminal and alot of the blame for that result must go to neils tactics , thought we played very well in europa league group against some very good teams but overall i think neil still has alot to prove 6 out of 10 at best , fab1 {Ed007's Note - The league was always a priority and NL delivered that, if he hadn't he would be out of the job. The cups did end up very disappointing and I agree with you that the Hearts game was a bit of a shambles. Overall I would give NL 8/10, I agree with your score of 6 on the domestic front, but I would give him 1 point for the European performances and 1 point for the over all improvement of the team this season. It could have been a better season, but it could have been a lot worse.}

Players needed for next season.
1) Expereinced Centre Back ...?
2) Goalkeeper....Craig Gordon (FREE)
3) Striker.....Jordan Rhodes (4-5Million)
4) Cover for left back

Commons recent form is like signing a new player. We have Kayal to come back from injury and have plenty options in midfield.
Samaras to play lone striker in European away games and Derby games ( if we meet them in a cup tie).

Odea comes back to provide cover along with Loovens for back 3.

Sell: KI, Cha, Kelvin Wilson,McCourt, Juarez, Rasmussen and all the guys that have been out on loan.
Keep stokes incase Hooper gets injured.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Get rid of glenda

Agree0 Disagree0

Why play Samaras as lone striker in derby games? they surely be in a weaker state no mater what the outcome, Id play 3 up front against them (if we meet) and go for record score.
DB77

Agree0 Disagree0

Loovens has gone. Rhodes will go 2 a EPL club and I think Mulgrew will cover Izzy if needed.

Why are so many people jumping on Stokes back & calling for him 2b sold? The guy scores goals & even tho he's not Hooper he's done not alot wrong!

Ledley did well covering Izzy

my question is who is at the SFA is talking about an appeal no yet decided it smacks of fix.... Timalloy {Ed007's Note - People are just guessing at the the outcome.}

im confused. we are trying to get into the champions league next season (probably wont happen) and we are after matt mills to strengthen our defence and he cant even get a game for leicester city?!?!?

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Cos he fell out with the manager and is being s**tcanned, we paid 5mill for him not the 2 mill quoted in todays scottish sun plus he's on 20k a week so don't think you'll get a straight swap for the forest flop but who knows

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant get a game cause he fell out with the boss

Agree0 Disagree0

He's fallen out with the manager. He is in my opinion a very good defender

My bro is a leicester season book holder and I have managed to get to see leicester a few times under sven. This laddie is a very good defender, better than anything we have just now.

Celtic are looking at Blackburn striker yakubu who has a relegation clause in his contract and would join for free, wages might be a stumbling block but worth a punt can score goals at any level.

Wages would be an issue but yeah would happy to see him in the hoops

Leicester fan here, I heard that we are swapping mills for kelvin Wilson, can you tell me if Wilson would be any good in the championship?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I think if he puts the effort in he could be a great player. Fast, strong and decent with the ball. Just didn't look interested that much at Celtic!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not really settled uo here, had a few injuries but I think he could have done well if his attitude was better, think the games were tougher than he thought they would be

Agree0 Disagree0

You should know he played at forest didn't he.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has not done much up here, might be more suited to English football but.

St Mikey

Agree0 Disagree0

I think generally Wilson has been shaky at best and woeful at worst up here. Personally I think he has a lot of good traits and would actually expect him to be given another season here before being punted if he doesn't improve. As I don't think he is as bad as many other celtic fans think. As he should tick all the right boxes for a CB. I think with some patience he could be a decent enough player for us or in the championship but cannot envisage a swap unless mills is really worth it? Would he do a turn in europe? I have my doubts from what I've seen of him, he aint poor but he aint a 3-5mil player either!

Evinguu

Agree0 Disagree0

Wilson hasn't had the easiest of first seasons at Celtic though has looked a decent player at times during the season before getting an injury which blighted the rest of his season...would love to see him stay and see what he is made of!In answer to your question I feel he is a decent centre back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wilson has all the tools to be a quality centre half. Pacey, strong, decent in the air and the tackle but he seems to have a bit of a concentration issue. If he can get his head together I think he could be a quality championship defender.

Agree0 Disagree0

Has found it hard to settle in and is not first choice so didn't get a run of games

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes already played the championship with forest so yes, just not good enough for us im afraid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi mate you should be able to tell us better
You have probs seen him more hes played in championship for a few seasons, tell me more about mills was he worth yer 5m? Is he any good do you rate him yourself?
Cheers mate all the best,.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally would like us to keep the guy. I think every player deserves a second chance and his season's been blighted with injuries. A good pre-season and run of games could see him pick up some form. For these reasons I don't think this deal is a go-er from the off.

To answer the OP's question though - when he first played I thought he looked the part - strong, quick, good in the air and composed on the ball. A level above anyone we had at the time.

However he had a bad game against Rangers (everyone did mind you - I don't blame him entirely) and picked an injury up shortly after it and hasn't found any sort of form in his handful of appearances since and has often been one of the poorer players in our poorer performances/results. Again, I think getting this season out of the way could help the guy as I don't think he's a poor player, just not been up to speed and/or fully fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you are a leicester fan you should already know what he is like. He has played agst leicester before he fell out with management at forest and didn't get a game. I doubt he is better than what you have just now.

Agree0 Disagree0

HES AMAZING MATE. We willl drive him down there for ya too.

See the Euros are being applied for, is this so we can actually qualify for a tourney for once? and they expect to have a decent team cos thats when the saviour of scottish football Wotte is going to have the next crop of young talent starting to filter through? Thats even if host nations still get automatic entry, how would it work with 3 nations? The highest ranked gets the place, or all 3 or none? How poor would it be if they win the event(which they prob wont) and we dont even get the place cos by the time the tourney is coming round Wales may be ranked higher than us (if thats the way it would be done). This said Poland and Ukraine both got auto entry didnt they? but would Uefa let 3 host nations in? i doubt it unless all 3 would be guranteed a place!

Now onto HMRC and the Big Tax Case. Could we be seeing HMRC play a blinder here? They may well accept the terms of the CVA and Rangers as they are continue to exist, once out of Admin HMRC then hit rangers with the Big Bill (if Guilty) and thus meaning they stand to make as much money back as possible either through liquidation as they become the only creditor or through another Administration although in this scenario it would have to be liquidation dont think Admin would cut it. This to me explains the delays in the announcement and also sounds like something HMRC would push the tribunal to do, to make sure they dont announce till the current round of Rangers bother is resolved. If Rangers are due as much has been mentioned and a decision is reached the HMRC could as the winners request a Delay on the announcement to avoid this other figure going into the existing CVA pot? I know there are many ins and outs here, and is wholly reliant on HMRC having some form of power over the tribunal in terms of when the announcement is made, but it is not beyond the realm of possibilities!

Evinguu

Believable2 Unbelievable7

HMRC have no power over the FTT tribunal. The result will be out when it's out.
Rumour the verdict is being written up right now so may not be much longer but it's exactly that,a rumour.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree and know they dont have the power to do anything, but they could have made a request for a delay in the announcement perhaps if they won to allow a scenario as i pointed out ( although poorly now I read it over lol) if Claiming that it is the best way they have of being able to make as much of that money back as possible. I know if i were in a position of power to say HMRC is due x amount of money and this is the verdict, i would be open to hearing their case for why they feel as it stands they will not get the money due at all and it is best to wait and see if a CVA can be made. They then agree to pass the CVA on the table for the wee tax case and PAYE etc in order to hit rangers with the big bill when they out of admin in an attempt to make back more of the money they are due. I really dont think this is beyond the realms of possibility. If HMRC said we are going to be screwed out of 70 million if the result comes out now please wait and see the outcome of the CVA. If the 70 mil hits now they dont stand to make much more money back off the CVA than what they will get just now! Maybe they are purposefully throwing spanners in the works to slow the process down for this ends.... think ive made myself clearer this time.

Evinguu

Agree0 Disagree0

The FTT are totally independent and HMRC cannot in any shape or form influence when the decision will be published

Nike have issued the statement below regarding the 3XL not being in the range for this year.

Nike's standard sizes of replica shirts range from extra small (XS) to extra extra large (XXL). Although we appreciate some fans may want larger sizes than that, the numbers of requests that we and the club get are realistically very small and don’t make it viable for us to produce a size run of shirts in that size. While this only affects a small number of our consumers, we apologise to those fans impacted that we can’t meet their request on this occasion.

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest it is a XXXXing joke

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah. That was a fat lot of help!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not viable (meaning profitable). They can bump a few million into advertising but not accept a minor loss on supplying the supporters. Tell that to the local market guys in Thailand... Not that I am advocating anything here but if the genuine market (which I strongly recommend so that both makers and CFC get their rightful return on investment) can't supply...?

Agree0 Disagree0

Gers strips used to go up to 5XL,not sure if they still do that size.Almost the size of the kit we hang from our stands.

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't want to seem overly rude, but the 3XL size issue has been raised quite a few times here. If anyone is 3XL a football top is not the most flattering garment to wear. Try Jacamo for something more suitable.

Agree0 Disagree0

Having had time to ponder my original reply I must apologise for my jibes at the podgy. However people in this situation have a unique opportunity to show double the support to our club and support a local seamstress..... I.E buy 2 strips and mash em together!!

Evinguu

Agree0 Disagree0

Contempt deserved, by the way Celtic run a gym for supporters who are over weight who would turn down the opportunity like that. Training at Celtic Park, if it was open to not fatties there would be a weighting list longer than creditors for the current buns.

Watching ssn and cannot believe when they was talking about strikers for England they never mentioned hooper but they talked about ricki Lambert and grant holt. Don't get me wrong they are two good players but hooper is without a doubt up there aswel.

Believable10 Unbelievable7

Ruddy in squad instead of Forster aswell.Maybe Hoops might get included in Team GB squad,if so then i hope he turns them down as we will have qualifiers about then.

Jungle Bhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree mate, would be a bit of a slap in the face to us if he was to go to olympics and miss our CL qualifiers. I am a fan of Hooper as most Celtic fans are but if your honest before the 5 goals at hearts and the performance against Rangers 3-0 i tough he had been toiling, looked jaded and a bit disinterested. I think if they were watching him that might have played a part in him being overlooked. Listen every cloud and all that.....at least we will now have a fit, fresh and rested Gary Hooper for CL Qualifiers and the start of next season. Big Herman Munster is less of a surprise to me TBH i don't think he's any kind of world beater. Good big keeper, works hard at his game. Makes less and less little mistakes as time goes on and now very reliable but his clean sheet record is of course a lot to do with the meanest defence in scotland for the last 2 seasons. They picked John Ruddy before him who in my opinion has slightly better reflexes but is a less commanding figure in the box and maybe not as good with cross balls. And of course he's playing in the premiership. {Ed007's Note - It's terrible that Rob Green has made the squad. There are some very questionable choices in there.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hooper or Forster will never get a call up while playing in the spl. Why is that so hard to understand!

Agree0 Disagree0

Because it shouldn't be like that. Hooper and Forster shouldn't be getting overlooked just because they play in the SPL. Look who England's keeper on the back up list is, he spent last season in League 2.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant argue with your comment about some questionable choices in England squad. Stewart Downing?? The most overrated 20 million pound winger i have ever seen. Mince. Rob Green is like dracula and not sure what they expect from Danny Welbeck at international level. Big Andy Carroll is in but i agree with that one. The big man couldnt hit a barn door with a lawnmower at times but i think he will do the business at the euro's. Hes got it....just not 35 million pounds worth of IT. Price tag is killing him.

Agree0 Disagree0

They don't want players that play in a joke league

It shud'nt be that way but it is, we've known this is how it works for years yet folk continually bleat on about it. Move on.

Paulbhoy010

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont blame Forster, it's Celtic who haven't made the decision to complete the deal

taco

Agree0 Disagree0

@taco i don`t blame the big man either and the money he could get down there will be much better than we would offer him and better chance of england cap i just think if he goes we should give zaluska the chance if foster goes.personally think zaluska commands the 18 yard box better and given the chance would save us money if foster does not sign and for being so big you would expect him to come out for crosses and pass backs i think hes a bit slow.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know what you're saying mate, no doubt he would make more down south, but i think he's quite happy where he is for the time being, and a couple of seasons playing in europe would mean for him that he can get even better wages in 2 years time.
as for zaluska, im not too sure he's the answer, he had a chance a while back and did nothing to convince me he has what it takes...yes he patrols his area better, but the stats this season dont lie, and i seriously doubt zaluska would be any better

taco

Agree0 Disagree0

Zaluska hasn't had much of a chance at all, a game or 2 in a row is not a chance, when called upon he's done well. I personally think he is a better keeper than forster is, he's more commanding and a lot quicker than Forster is. Forster isn't the answer in my opinion, Id send him back to Newcastle.
Dannybhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's had two runs of about 15 games in a row, i'd say that was giving him a chance. i agree he's done well, but certainly not well enough for a regular 1st team start

taco

Agree0 Disagree0

So, is it Forster, Newcastle or Celtic who are holding back possible sign-on? Any idea Ed? {Ed007's Note - The club says they have offered a contract to Forster, if Newcastle tried to block the move then CFC would be due compensation.}

Agree0 Disagree0

@taco considering he's only made 18 appearances id find it hard to believe he has had two runs of 15 games each. he hasn't had muc of a chance at all and is everything Artur boruc was commanding good shot stopper. remember the reason we signed him was his superb form with Dundee united.
