Did you guys read what that guy smith was saying, talking about how the newco will challenge us soon and would be on the same level. He said Celtic have lost in the spl and are losing to other clubs, well dosent he know that is what the game is about and what sports are about? Why does he think that is such a big story, he must hold Celtic really high seeing how he thinks we should never lose.

The last and final Director of Football of Rangers FC founded 1873 and incorporated 1899.

As director football he didn't know where trialists were or know one had jumped on the midnight train south from Glasgow central the night before.

Has Jabba asked him to do a turn on this auspicious day? Or did he stride forth from obscurity under his own initiative?
Is he banned from holding an association football office for five years also?

I don't understand why we are still being compared with a third division outfit? Still trying desperately to hang on our slipstream. Another couple of seasons in the lower leagues should put paid to that. As for Celtic losing in the SPL, we were also winning in the champions league. Rangers are losing in the third division. that is all.

I don't think we should be kidding ourselves, the newco have no debt to speak of any more, they are selling out their home games every week and banking the cash, along with a tiny wage bill. Expect to see them back soon enough, in much better shape. Meanwhile we should be taking advantage of their absence to win as many trophies as possible. {Ed007's Note - The Rangers/Sevco are selling out their ground with the majority of seats taken up by season tickets (already paid for and the money is spent) and free tickets to schools/local councils etc. There is no money coming in, they have no credit facility at the bank and they are running at a loss, season ticket sales don't even cover their running costs, it is a laughable business model for any new venture. Compare it to the newest fad wonder diet that women cling onto, when the novelty wears off it fades off to insignificance and 'ra peepul' will be left with useless tins of milk shakes nobody wants and everyone has moved onto the next fad.}

Isnt the Rangers wage bill only second to celtic so not tiny compared with what their bringing in?

To the last poster. they don't have a small wage budget, they are still paying more in wages than most of the SPL teams! Rangers will come up to our standard in the red AGAIN! We don't need them, they NEED us. why you think they always talk about celtic, jealous of where we are and how good we are, if that Rangers team walked into CP for a game, they would leave with their tails between their legs. we would show them how the game should be played. And don't get me started on andy goram, the guy is a has been who could only turn to writing papers as he doesn't have a clue about football hence why he's not a coach and just a pen pusher! And that smith, WASTER!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets face it, Rangers need the old firm! There is absolutely no doubt about it!
They require the sectarian side of game to drive their support numbers up, sad but very true!
The quicker celtic distance themselves further from this the better for everyone except rangers!

The old firm is dead! Thank god!!

Been reading that Celtic have so far collected a highly impressive 20 co efficient points this season but because Scotland have plummeted in the rankings we will be playing our first CL qualifier on July 16 with the return a week later. The next round is July 30th and the final round Aug 27. I'm just wondering what our team will be like especially with news today of Hooper and Wanyama being touted in the English press again. . DH

I read a few posts about Neil can do no wrong in Celtic supporters eyes and can't quite believe it do they despise the man that much they want his own fans to despise him? Neil is a young manager learning the game and in my eyes taking Celtic to the last 16 of champions league is quite simply amazing considering the amount of cash spent on transfers to beat Barcelona the greatest team in the world is amazing to run the so close in camp nou amazing if wanyama and hooper do leave for big dollars then it will be great bit of business we have a good record of signing talented young players and selling them on I would like to see Neil at the helm for many years to come as I think we could become a last 16 regular.

Its only a great piece of business if we actually spend some of the money. Looks to me as the vast majority of the profits will be sitting in the bank!

I would rather see some of the guys that played at Inverness coming through the ranks rather than wasting our hard earned money on players filling up their pensions. Appreciate everyone wants superstars but would take three Adam Mstthews type players (young, hungry, keen to learn) knowing full well that two will probably not make it rather than buy one established 'star'. We won't get last sixteen every year, but we csn have exciting times trying! The model appears to be working so let's give it a few years and see how we get on.

While the business model certainly works, finances are good, mostly down to our CL miracle. We have become a selling club, expect Wanyama, hooper and big Fraser to be heading away in the summer with some bargain replacements brought in. As for regulars in last 16 of CL, It would not surprise me if we fail to negotiate our way through the qualifying stages next season. Sorry, just a bit of reality.

Reading some of the posts on here you would think we were world beaters and should've disposed of juve. I for one am very proud of the achievements in Europe this has been a fantastic feat to get so far. let's not forget our delight at just getting to the group stages. There was a big discussion on the train up for the game on wether efe should play I was one that wanted him on the park yes there's fatigue but also the high of winning in Africa could've worked wonders so it was a gamble that didn't work. As for the way we played I was proud to see us having a go. Living in Wales I expected a ribbing because of the score but everyone I spoke to has said how unlucky we were. My only downside was the game was on itv for all to see and couldn't believe the amount of fans leaving early. For me the team deserved a round of applause. I'm a very proud to say my team made it to the last 16.

Very true welshbhoy, I'd take league and last 16 of cl every year. jj

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not a Celtic supporter but I still like to see them doing well in Europe, and Welshbhoy is right, they did very well, Celtic was never going to win against Juve over the two games, but they can be proud of themselves for getting so far, Celtic need to be playing in a better standard of league to get better, no one else is going to win the SPL only them for years to come.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with you Welshbhoy. I'm delighted by how well we have done, and think Neil and all concerned have done us proud.
