Hi ed was talking to a Manchester city fan today who is from Manchester and he spotted me in the hoops and told me the fans are looking forward to seeing ki and wanyama in the sky blue and a transfer of 15million? You heard anything

And does anyone think liam Lawrence is worth a risk {Ed007's Note - Why on earth would anyone want to talk to a Man City fan?}

Believable4 Unbelievable16

I thought Lawrence had signed for Paok Salonica . He's not good enough for us anyway.......DH

A really think we should flog Ki bhoys and ghirls he surely has to be our most dispensable source of income was really hoping for rhodes,henriksen and ciani possibly ambrose as well but am really starrtin to mull over oribe peralta obv his value might have rocketed since his performances at the olympics and rightly so imo but still think we could have enough to get him also kelvin wilson has to go hes beginning to remind me of bertie bombscare konterman lol

Believable3 Unbelievable4

I cannot get over how many people want to get rid of Ki. He is by a million miles the best football player at Celtic Park. If we are desperate for money sell Wanyama, play Kayal in the middle with Ledley and Ki, with that you have a bit of everything. It is unbelievable that Arsenal want Ki for their midfield yet we think he isnt good enough for ours, what game are you watching. He scores goals, he passes the ball, he dominates teams, he is creative, basically all of the things that we need. Sell Wanyama with add ons, give Ki a new contract and see if we can build on his talent. It is obvious we need someone who can see apass but can also execute the pass, Ki is the one who can do that but we all like Vic becsue he is a big Bobo type of player, if we keep the ball better then we dont need that kind of player instead we use the ball better by keeping it. This kid will go on to become a world superstar and we cant wait to shove him out the door.....

I see Rhodes is saying how he supported Celtic as bhoy and had all the strips etc and how they have an amazing stadium and fans (obvious I know). He then states that he can't let a possible transfer to us go to his head. Surely, reading between the lines, he is saying he would love to join the Hoops. C'mon Peter Lawell, get this man as this is what the fans want and he fits the profile of a player that can be sold in a few years at a profit. The proposed money for Ki will cover this with a possible £4m left over. Why, when we have trimmed about 100k per week from wage bill, can we not afford a net spend of (-£2m) when you take the £2m for Forster into account? Why should we need to wait to get through the CL qualifier?..........martyc1888 {Ed007's Note - Forster's fee was covered by selling Hooiveld to Southampton Marty, that makes it even worse.}

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Celtic fans love goalscorers sell a defender or midfeilder and entertain us as long as we score 1 more we win ,simple

Agree0 Disagree0

ED007, re KI, on Newsnow Celtic it quotes interview with Neil Lennon in which he says, KI will join up with Celtic on Thursday and will be available for Ross County and Helsinborgs games. Timalloy

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes , Bring in Rhodes. I hope it happens as I get the feeling he will be a big hit

Agree0 Disagree0

We got £1.6million for Juarez and £250k for rasmussen so our net spend in this window is only £150k! {Ed007's Note - I forgot about them, that's profit then.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed so you mean that we got 2 mill in the transfer? That's good because I didn't know if we got anything for him though he just walked. Also heard ki might be going to arsenal and an other thing saying he is going for 9 mill, do all this sound right? {Ed007's Note - Yeah that was the fee we received for him.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Imo one or two players will be sold but that money will go to reducing the debt if nl gets to group stages hell be lucky to spend 2 or three mil tops

Agree0 Disagree0

These signings better be good if we qualify or every1 of us are being robbed I just can't see these deals being already sorted if and or buts with the cl qualification

As always I believe NL knows what he's doing when it comes to bringing in new faces (the right faces) for the squad. Having said that it would be best to get the necessary players in now to help see us passed Helsingborgs. This is not a walk in the park tie, but let's get real, it's not exactly leaving us all quake in our boots so what's the hold up in getting quality in now? Are we actually skint or are we waiting on some serious cash coming in for ki or hooper or kayal?

Hi ed,I've been hearing the same story about ki leaving,but it's not to q,p,r,as he had a good Olympics,a host of E,p,l teams are interested,if he does leave I hope we get a cracking fee for him and not a paltry one,the e,p,l teams always offer derisory fees,look at Jelavic,IMO I would have said maybee 8 or 9 million,he went for 5,hope this isn't the case with ki,

Believable10 Unbelievable2

To be fair everton knew that oldco where in financial disarray and merely took advantage of the situation hence the 5 mill for jellyfish . We on the other hand have relatively stable finances ...... Ask for more money .... Love the site ed ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Jelavic fee was only low because oldco still owed Everton money for Michael Ball transfer from 2001.

David leggat fined £1000 (maximum) and suspended from his union for threatening comments towards Alex Thomson.I think ED,like me,you will be pleased with this?..............green jhedi {Ed007's Note - I think he has actually resigned from the NUJ mate........}

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Resigned from the NUJ?? You mean he was actually recognised as an official journalist beforehand?

Only in this country would demented p*ss-soaked peepel like this lunatic be called a 'journalist'.

ED007, Green Jhedi, Alex Thomson has apparently said that NUJ fined him £1000 for offensive post about him. He also said that although Strathclyde Police were also made aware of this they never even investigated it. shameful... Timalloy

Has celtic aceppted an offer of 9 million for ki , or is it just a rumour going about today?

Believable3 Unbelievable12

13 Aug 2012 14:16:12
ed there is no official done deal for ki so will he join up with the squad any-time soon? and may he possibly play in champion league qualifier? also any news on the transfer front? {Ed007's Note - I don't that we will see Ki playing for CFC again. He will have been given an extended break after his participation in the Olympics.}

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - That should have read 'I don't think that we'. QPR are the closest to signing him with only minor details and the medical to complete. He has also popped up on Arsenal's radar, but they would still prefer Wanyama.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you know what the fee is between the two clubs. will be sad to see him go but had to lose someone out of the middle and he was always gona be the most likely

Kieran1967 {Ed007's Note - The initial fee agreed with QPR was £7 million but some places are now saying it will take £9 million, maybe other interest has nudged the price up.}

Agree0 Disagree0

A tad disconcerning if there is in fact a deal already done for Ki considering the comments from NL yesterday >>> " Ki will be returning now and will not require any extra training as he will be fit ,, it will be like having a new player coming in " or words to that effect ...... sincerely hope we're not going to be subject to another ' balancing of books ' statement .

Hey first time poster!

I feel that out current squad is good but a bit small! With one or two signnings it could be quality!

Just a suggestion but what about john carew as a big target man? Just released from west ham very experienced especially in CL! Wages may be a problem but i dunno
Thoughts? {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site.}

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Think already been mentioned mate. yea good experience but player that has been past it as two maybe 3 years now. think we needa look abroad for our target man as down south is too dear and think they can snatch our players for cheap

Kieran1967

Agree0 Disagree0

Would like to see another west ham striker but again would probably be out of our price range Carlton Cole. Great target man loads of pace and can score a few aswell

Agree2 Disagree0

Nah I wouldn't want him, Defo past his best now....think we should be looking for someone from Europe with some European experience that wouldn't cost too much...a target man that's good at linking up the play and can hold off a defender or two lol I think we need a CB more than a striker if I'm Bein honest, trust what we have for SPL but for CL I think we need a quality defender if we want to do anything in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think he's worth a punt! Better than murphy anyway.

The Mirror now has us heading the list of suitors for Chris Wood from WBA. I always take the newspaper rumours with a pinch of salt but this may make sense as he fits our criteria young, inexpensive, big (6,2) and looks decent in front of goal. Have you heard anything ed007?
CBP {Ed007's Note - I've not heard anything sorry but I used to buy him in an old version of FM :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Real quality player i think. watched the boy at birmingham last year and looked accomplished to say the least. to be honest i dont think there is much truth in it but i hope so cause i think hey done all=right in europa league games with them also

Good afternoon ed! Just wanted to ask your opinion/knowledge about what is going on transfer wise.
Do you think we are waiting until after the cl qualifier and if so do you really think after waiting until the last couple of days are these supposed targets coming with the wow factor or quality needed?I feel it's a terrible gamble as a cb n cf would make the difference

Thanks brian {Ed007's Note - I think that it depends what European competition we are in what our realistic targets will be. Personally I would much rather get them in just now and take the 'risk'.}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I agree because I really don't see us signing any body like Rhodes getting bought even if we do qualify! I just don't. Think it's a good strategy at all

seen commons hasnt been picked for the scotland squad yet ian black a 3rd division player has craig levein is a fkn class A moron hope scotland git pumped

gunniebhoy

Believable14 Unbelievable7

Sums Levein up perfectly! Another in a long line of blue-nose biased National managers.

JJ {Ed007's Note - I don't think he is biased at all JJ, I just think he is a very poor manager.}

Agree0 Disagree0

A would rather Celtic players didn't play in pointless friendly's it has cost us in the past Kennedy for example
FozzY

Agree1 Disagree0

C'mon, this is the National side. While I may agree about the manager I certainly do not want to see Scotland get pumped. Anyway, do we want our players in the squad at this early stage in the season? We need them to stay focussed on the Celtic job on hand.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough Black shhould be nowhere near the squad but to say you hope we get pumped is just ridiculous. Does anybody on this site ever get behind their team?

Mikey Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO Levein is a very poor manager. He is terrified of losing his job, which puts him in the the very worst position....incompetent and scared. Unfortunately unless he grows a pair and then develops as a manager more in the next 12 months than he has in the last 12 years then the Scotland team will never play to their potential. Sopot Celt. PS I do think he is honest and not biased but he is just plain useless.

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolute disgrace, especially as Commons has been looking good recently. Scotland will not reach their potential so long as Levein is in charge. It is such a pity because we have a very decent pool of players now and the future could be very bright

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikey a back scotland wenever they play but tbh a couldnt care less about ther results sfa's been riddled wae rangers fir decades now the manager is pickin a guy that wasnt gud enuf for scotland in the spl but hes suddenly gud enuf now that hes in the 3rd division ? suhin is reekin aboot that m8

gunniebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

The powers that be obviously feel they need to include a 'token' NEWCO player to ensure support for the national team..Can anyone name a 3rd division player who plays for a national team? {Ed007's Note - Jordan Rhodes...... ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

2 and 2says levein has been pressurised to pick a rankers player. Sally moaning the other day about none of his players being picked then all of a sudden Blacks in.
MR LEVEIN you are an utter joke please do the honourable thing and GO NOW !!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with original poster, Sfa have been rife for decades, here is a wee question: how many caps in all did the lisbon lions get considering they all came from close by and also won the big yin? Then you've also had celtic players on 1 cap 1 goal, then you have the nicholas's and mcavennie's,.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikey bhoy when you stand on the terrace's and hear your " fellow" Scotland supporter's booing certain player's because they play for Celtic. It make's you feel that you don't care if Scotland get humped. Was there when it happened to Jinky and Davie Hay.
Tambhoy ( original )

Agree0 Disagree0

How can anyone take CL seriously with that farcical facial hair .........? the guys a complete and utter joke and I quit supporting the national team after their sickening treatment of the late , great Tommy Burns ......... enough is enough .

Agree0 Disagree0

Re Jordan Rhodes playng in division 3...should have said 4th tier ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with OP. For years Tic players where treated second class. Just look at the caps Jinky, Lennox, Burns etc won. These were class players. Then it was tradition for Tic players to be booed from the terracings when playing for Scotland and not one mention in the media about it. Totally agree with majority of posts Levein very poor manager. Hbhoy.

If, and its an awfully big IF, the newspapers are to be believed then we are selling Ki for between £7m-£9m, Wanyama for £10m, Izzaguire for £5m and Hooper for between £5m-£8m in the coming weeks. That will give Celtic between £27m-£32m. Surely thats the whole point in buying these young players and developing them and if we do sell any of the players then I think we will have replacements brought in quickly. Cant see all these players leaving this window though. {Ed007's Note - Add in Kayal who Everton are sniffing around after selling Rodwell.}

Believable5 Unbelievable5

If we sell all those players now then we will get slaughtered in Europe. One or two ok, yes, make some money. 5? Too many, doesn't matter who we bring in, they won't have time to gel

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do you believe all these stories in the press regarding the transfer of our players its what they wish for then slaughter the board for selling the fans short .thats why they are called the laptop loyal they are hurting bad as a result of their beloved 3rd division pets and need as much negativity regarding celtic. please pay no heed to anything they print.

morning ed, has NL had a falling out with young tony watt? the bhoy appears do have disappearedtotally from the first team squad that went to germany pre season or any of the squads for opening league game,champions league qualifiers & US trip.
cheers Davie {Ed007's Note - I haven't heard or seen anything about any fall out Davie, I am surprised myself Watt hasn't been given more of a chance.}

Believable4 Unbelievable3

No fall out think he picked up an injury recently just working on his fitness

Skinnybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do people always assume that lennon falls out with his players, the player we are talking about is a kid(albeit a good prospect),.,.kbarry

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe Neil protecting him by not putting too much pressure on him, by playing him too much.
Tambhoy ( original )

Agree0 Disagree0

The real question here is not whats happening with Watt, but more about the lack of info coming from the club to the fans. NL is a man short on his backroom team but its time the information to the fans became more frequent and more detailed. The season has started after all! Sopot Celt

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently the boy has a big time charlie attitude all of a sudden after a few inclusions in the 1st team squad...my mate played against him for partick and says he is a good player maybe lenny is just biding his time with him

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless deals have already been agreed or lined up? I don't understand why Lennon has to wait to see how CL goes before being given transfer funds, it only leaves 2 days till end of transfer window after the return leg vs Helsingborg! Ok he may only be looking at 2 new players and a poss loan deal but it's still a gamble especially the way injuries are going!

Bigbadjohn

Believable6 Unbelievable1

I said something similar yesterday and it was fired onto celtic banter page, time to get the finger out celtic, if we dont sign anyone we will end up with 2nd rate players from the championship that no team wants. this happens all to often with us bargain basement, we will get pumped rotten if we head to cl group stage with this team.speculate to accumulate, Ki is ment to be offski and bids are £8 million plus, its a no brainer get in Rhodes for £4million and a center half for £4 million, nothing spent ? wages down from last year, and probablyone or two still to leave us which may bring in some more funds plus Lennys £2/3 million transfer budget that he has, then we have big Vic is he for the off??

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think Lenny has a 2-3mil budget after everything that's went on, he sated before the Aberdeen game " we need to wait on a deal or 2 to be finalised (players out) before we can add to our squad".
And if ki is sold for 8mil Lennon will probs be only be able to spend 4mil of that, that's just the way things are at the moment but it's still annoying that a johnny Russell or a tempelton or someone with a bit of promise ant be brought in to keep other players on their toes for SPL

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

To bbj, Lenny was told what players he sells he gets the money for new players , reports on hb that ki is off £9million, get that money spent and we will do well, 2 or 3 players

Agree0 Disagree0

What would be the point of signing Russell or Templeton? Min of 3m for the pair, a pair who we prob won't be able to recoup our money on, a pair who have no European experience and are still relatively fresh to football week in and out?
Not as if the potential is pouring out either of them so for these reasons reasons I'd rather stick by Mcgeouch, Twardzik and Watt who clearly have the ability to play pivotal roles for Celtic,in Scotland at least, very soon.

we're after experience I would imagine and hope we don't sign for the sake of it a la freddie,Murphy,kaddouri,brozek and would be signings like Russell etc.

Jamie mac(quality body not any body)

Agree0 Disagree0

At start of yr NL said there was money to spend n didnt use it. Then during summer claimed we didnt need to sell before buying then changed his tune. I'm totally fed up with penny pinching n takin chances depending on CL results. We're still expected to stump up ST money but where's the board ambition? Also Russell I'd sign in a minute, have we learned nothing from letting players through our fingers then see values sore in PL? Fletcher, McCarthy. Steveo

Agree0 Disagree0

To the nameless post, I'll agree to disagree that the the money we bring in for sale of players will go straight back out, just my opinion, but really can't see spending 9mill if we get it for ki or 15mil if we sell ki and kayal??
Jamie-mac agree with you on the youngsters but think johnny Russell would be a steal for 1mil potentially better than stokes and would make a profit on him also..

Bigbadjohn

Agree0 Disagree0

I reckon we are doing the right thing being frugal. I know it s the cl etc but the club has to be careful,clear the decks of any debt first , it's the reality of now. PL and NL and the scouts do a cracking job with what they have. HH. Joe

Agree0 Disagree0

BBJ how many goals did Russell score last year or the year before that, was it more than Stokes?. We need a big target man who can hold the ball up, like Sutton or Hartson, Russell does'nt do that.
Tambhoy ( original )

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not saying it HAS to be Russell! But at the end of the day were not goin to be spending 4mil for a striker and yes I agree wee need a target man! I never said Russell would be our "target man" i said hes got the potential to be be than stokes, u can't compare the 2 unless there playing with the same players round them! In a Celtic jersey Russell has the" potential" to be better than stokes

Agree0 Disagree0

Russell and Mackay Steven should be a must as said wee have let players leave for England and command great sell on prices.. Wee should snap up the promise they have and ability to go with it...

Norwich bid 5million for izzy,they will use Vaughan as bait,take it and run Neil

Believable6 Unbelievable13

No way will we sell for 5m!! He was quoted as 10 for a while and aren't Man U meant to be tracking his progress? The newspaper in question suggested it was because there was no Rangers in the league that Izzy was unsettled.

Agree1 Disagree0

Take it and run..... no thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

Your joking though right? 'take it and run' implying its a ridiculously good offer?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would take 5m in a second for him. Cant defend and he is a defender! Went backwards after his injury.

Joeshmo1888

Agree0 Disagree0

He is half the player he was! take 5 million or maybe push for 6, get mulgrew at left back and spend the full amount on a class centre half!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldnt let izzy go for that. im sure he will find his form soon, you dont become a bad player thru injury, maybe its still on his mind. i think even the king of kings had a bad run after his injury,although saying that now im not so sure lol..............bhoywonder

Agree0 Disagree0

Why put Mulgrew at LB when hes clearly our best CB?

Agree0 Disagree0

Youve got to be jokin! Izzy is worth easy 9m he was excellent at takin ball from madrid players on Saturday and we need a player with pace on the left and unfortunately Charlie hasnt got that never mind him being a better CB than LB.
