Fabian Schar has been linked to us in the Spanish media? Apparently a €4m euro release clause and a very expeirienced defender. Anyone heard anything further?

Swiss International, European experience, seems to score a good amount of goals from CB and at 26 is probably just coming into his peak. Ticks a lot of boxes.

My thinking exactly Kev! He was Basel’s Penalty taker, got a decent conversion rate from the spot! Wonder if any of the EDs hold information on him? I’m thinking there could be something in this as he played for Hoffenheim, which may link back to congerton from his time in the bundesliga.

I was hoping he was just really dominant at corners Ken.

I would be happy with this for that sort of price. He's comfortable on the ball dribbling out from the back and spraying passes. Would suit our style. Good age and experience of playing at the top level too.

He sounds like an ideal candidate. which means we probably will keep Boyata lol.

He sounds like the ideal candidate. Which means we will probably sign his da.

And to top it all off he's left footed! Would be over the moon if this is true.

A great amount of excitement for someone we are probably not interested in signing.

@tompo88 thought he was right footed?
OMC- wheesht. A 4m 26yr old cb international is a decent place to start. A Spanish hack/ agent kicked this all off. Not a bad or unrealistic target. At least the dafty transfer link train is off and rolling. You'll probably get a cut price fare for a wee day trip or two. Hop on.

On second check you're correct rglen8 he is indeed right footed, just getting confused as Fifa I played him LCB due to his 4 star weak foot lol.

Guilty as well. thank God for the old fifa database haha.

OMC that's what the close season is for. Reading rubbish about who we are being connected to and getting excited about it.
How boring would it be if we didnt.

Watched a couple of video's (yes I know) but this guy looks well worth 4 mill one video was his highlights v Real Madrid and although they lost 3-0 he looked impressive.

I hate the close season and the twelve billion connections to players we never sign. We all know what we need, what we don’t know is who we will go for. We can’t compete with the richer clubs and as soon as you read an epl team are also in for a player that immediately rules them out.

I’m hoping we have already a list, but, the last two defensive signings shows me at least the limitations of any list that would have had Comparre and Hendrybat the top of it. Hendry may or may not fit the bill, but not now. I have my doubts he ever will reach the level we need if we are to move to the next level.

He can’t get a game now and we have players we know have Achilles heels, that doesn’t fill me with hope. He’s another project. Compare baffled me. It still does.

We had a game against Zenit after the new year and all knew defensively we needed vast improvement. These two were not that. Those kind of buys again in the summer will see us again entering a CL qualifiers with a weak and vulnerable defence.

Boyata is a perplexing and at times infuriating player. When he is good he is very good. His concentration and risk taking has us all reaching for the valium. He has had no competition, even after bringing in two CB’s. That isn’t good enough in recruitment terms.

I hope whoever is on the new list is capable right now.

I will read all the rumours though. I’m like a moth to a flame. Just get it done Celtic. If we do, 10 will be the least of the worries for our deluded neighbours. The savings to our NHS in reduced Valium prescriptions alone is a good reason. My sanity for me is up there too. :)

In the rags today, Rangers after John McGinn.

I very much doubt it because Hibs have him valued at 5 million.

Thats fine mate because windyass will go for three plus add-ons. In fact some think they should hold out for five. that's the level of rank stupidity we dealing with here.

And I’m signing for Man City to replace Aguero.

Keep that to yourself though.

Makes sense. The 12mill they didn't spend on Rooney can now be used for mcginn with 7million profit. simples.

Ludicrous to value McGinn at anything over 1.5 million.

11 May 2018 17:14:26
Kev to be fair McGinn could go to a Championship side and Hibs would get £2 to £3mill for him. He is a decent player and still young so spending £3mill in decent championship side is not a risk really. don't know if I fancy him any more than Kouassi and he cost us £3mill.

is aguero going to rangers? just as MP is going to man city, Aguero MUST be going to rangers, surely.

More chance of me and James McClean joining the Saltcoats orange flute band than there is of John McGinn joining sevco, i know what John said when he heard it, i will give you a clue, the second word was off.

Jamesbhoy67 you’ve said before you know him and his family. Have they given any indication that there’s a potential move to the hoops in the summer. I’m hoping maybe a bid of £2m-£3m plus Scott Allan will be enough to do a deal.

12 May 2018 01:53:45
Didn't think of the Allan chip, it's worth the ask but I don't see it being a big factor. He has no future here and wants to go there. Hibs will be savvy enough to know celtic would take 500k in a heartbeat which isn't much if they are after 4m+ with a few clubs interested. It will come down to where the hair goes and if BR rates McGinn head and shoulders above kouassi as they are fighting for the same spot with brown (ncham, mcgregor, sa and biton are all on the books in there as well) . The only time we would need 2 or 3dmfs on the park is against the best in Europe under the cosh in a 4321 or to see out a 1-0 lead. I'm still not convinced we need to spend 4/ 5million there.

James Mc Clean is a sensible and realistic suggestion . Hard working amd commitment wouldn't be doubted on at least a par with what we have .
As for Roberts, time to shoo him off to get caught in the cogs of the PL conveyor belt .

Hi Ice Man, there has been no approach from Celtic yet, Cardiff and Burnley had scouts up watching him a few times in the last week.

TTTS you might not be too far off with your fellow Derry man signing for Celtic.

People all said the same nonsense when we spent about 4.5 million on Scott Brown.

before and after he signed, he's came good though. People forget when you sign the likes of McGinn they then get chance to develop and improve also.

I think he is a good player and what our skillful midfielders like McGregor, Armstrong lack a bit of physical style as well.

Good passer but can dig in and wins possession back as well.
