Any truth to the rumour Griffiths to be used to smooth McGinn transfer, hence OE suddenly being given the starting spot?

Can't see there being any truth in that Kwaj when Clubs in England would pay £10m+ for Griffiths. We would lose a fortune by having him as part of that deal. Plus at this stage of his career would Griffiths be happy to see out the most important contract of his life on the wages Hibs would offer him, doubt it. Maybe when he is in his 30s. Hibee or not money talks.

I can’t see any team being willing paying £10m for Griffiths. Nobody even showed an interest in him as far as we know after he banged in 40 goals 2 seasons ago.

What will happen is Griff will start mid week score and the talk of him being left out will be gone.

I recall plenty Championship Clubs sniffing about Kev, Wolves and Leeds being 2. Were Everton not interested too. Anywho all ifs and but one things for sure he won't be used in a swap deal for Mcginn.

Agreed. He’s too good to be playing at Hibs, as is McGinn probably.

I'm sure wages would come into it aswel Hibs wouldn't be able to scratch the surface of what he earns at the moment, he will end his career there im sure but that's a while away. Id take McGinn, very impressed with him every time i see him he's going to become a great player.

Sometimes I wonder is it really for to improve our team that we buy certain players or is it to weaken the opposition. I think of how buying Ciftci, Mckay Steven and Armstrong decimated Dundee Utd and only Armstrong made an impact with us. I liked Scott Allen when he played at hibs and we bought him and he did nothing. I think we need players who will strengthen our starting eleven so unless we're going to offload midfielders or McGinn is so much better than we have already what's the point in buying him or would he want to come here to be a squad player like happened to Jonny Hayes. Forgive the rant but I get frustrated at times with a buy buy buy mentality and i would only buy to improve us as there is no point in winning by weakening the opposition as we will only go backwards in europe if we don't strengthen.

Thing is donjim for every Scott Allen there is a James McCarthy. Once in a while a rare talent comes through and McGinn definitely has all the attributes to be a success. Whether he can come in an hold is own at Celtic we won't know until it happens but you could say that about a £10m foreign player aswel. Buying any player is a gamble.

I don't think we bought players to weaken dundee united. Bit of a daft statement, these players all played well for their team, we bought them relatively cheap with the hope they could do a job. Not everyone does well, spent a lot more money for random players who haven't made the cut. As Stan said buying players is a gamble.

It's getting really stupid really early I see.

Griffiths to Hibs? O da, please!

Let's keep it to players who will never come being spotted at CP.

Or, taxi driver inside info. Which we all know is irrefutable.

I'm still hoping for the retired pair of Kinkladze and Riquelme to appear Mp.

Maybe if Griffiths is on his way then the Robbie Keane to Celtic rumour will resurface.

lol

after the 2 free kicks against the worlds best national side, he ain't going to hibs, slightly worrying he's being overlooked - but he's normally vocal about these things and has been strangely quiet. I think he knows the score at celtic, Rodgers hasn't called him fat and lazy in a wee while and how much would it cost to replace him.

with the craziness that is Engerlish fitba tho, its not beyond the bounds of belief that a Fulham could offer £5-10m and still have change for a few more £10m+ players. But I don't even think Tim will be betting on this one.

{Ed007's Note - How is LG getting overlooked, because he's been on the bench for 3 games? Why do these stories never surface about players like Armstrong, Bitton Rogic or the likes when they are benched?
Every time LG doesn't play a match there's loads of stories about fall outs with managers and impending transfers yet every one of them are complete bollocks. I'm surprised nobody has said that LG driving a taxi in the Christmas advert was a subliminal message that he was leaving!}

aye but he didne have shoes on. he's deid.

Personally I like LG when he is on form he is very good striker indeed. Just feel personally he needs games to go on a run with goals. don't think this stop start kind of season suits him and is difficult for any striker. Also would happily take McGinn and think he would shine under BR in our midfield would definitely add simply playing in a better team with better players he would add something.

LG has played in around 20 games this season already. How people can claim he's on his way out is beyond me.

Maybe a bold statement but i can see Griffiths being at Celtic for another 5 seasons. Id be happy to go into next season with Griffiths and Edouard.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If Edouard can keep doing what he's doing I'd be happy enough with that and Jack Aitchison stepping up to the 3rd striker spot. He'll be 18 by the time next season starts and he should be starting to push for a first team squad place and some domestic gametime next season imo.}

12 Dec 2017 21:54:37
and just think of all the unemployed stewards at ibrokes not defending the posts after a pumping if LG goes, so he must stay.

12 Dec 2017 21:55:11
If he's good enough he should definitely be pushing for a place Ed. I've seen quite a bit of the youths this season and he does look a player. When you consider Edouard is only 19 next season really is the season that Aitchison needs to push on as he will be compared with other youths his age currently getting game time and questions will no doubt be asked.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's my thinking, at some point we need to try our own youths rather than looking at other teams youngsters for a first team spot.}

Brendan Rodgers commented yesterday that Brown v McGinn was a 'No contest' and that young McGinn wasn't in Broonies league. Do you think that was him playing it down or was it a veiled message that he isn't interested in signing him? . Personally I'm not convinced he's much better than what we have or even if we need a midfielder. Ntcham is the future for us in there if we can hold onto him.

I think it was more a comment on the stature of the players rather than ability. Brown has been Celtic and Scotland captain for years and played in huge games whereas John McGinn is getting compared to him after a handful of caps and one or two cups. It’s not paying Brown the respect he deserves.

Brendan raved about McGinn after the Hibs v Hearts game last year. I'm hoping yesterday's comments were the first shots fired for January's negotiations to sign him.

First time posting here, surely Rodgers would've wanted a response from the players after the poor midweek performance and he didn't get it. hopefully some of the squad players can step up when they're given the chance, but then the winter break can't come quick enough. a 3 week break and hopefully a few new additions will see us really kick on in the second half of the season.

The defence is poor. Boyata has become our new Effie. I thought big jozo was going to be 1 hell of a player but he's been way of form. In january Erik Sviatchenko will be away so hopefully 1or 2 new Defender's brought in. I would sell Armstrong and get Mcginn in. Another 2 or 3 players brought in to revitalise the squad and keep everyone on their toes vying for their places.
