Aston villa trying to get rid of a few players before mcliesh is allowed to bring any in despite making 39m in fees and spending 13m. The agent of brad guzan the usa keeper has sounded out celtic about his availability........AS

Believable13 Unbelievable5

If we have no money as certain posts say.Why not take a chance on Le fondre. Worked out with Hooper. Once a goalscorer always a goalscorer. Lennon says we were in for Bellamy surely we could then afford the polish goalie. These two are must have signings....

Agree0 Disagree0

Did guzan not turn us down before? if he didnt want to join then i'd rather not have him now

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take him on a free but as the other guy said if he didn't want to sign before don't take him now. If a fee s involved use it elsewhere. I think we need to sell before we buy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we need to spend more than 2mill to get a good keeper since we lost out on a good prospect in the wee polish boy.never mind thes donkeys that will come now coz no one else wants them

Agree0 Disagree0

Guzan had his chance he turned us down in the past

ye alright Ed? Just wondering if you've heard any news on Kayal? Heard he got taken off injured in the international last night. You heard any updates to the seriousness of the injury?

It'll be a huge blow if he's out for any length of time along with Emilio and Broony picking up an injury last night.

Bunny Munro {Ed004's Note - I am fine lol, I am just covering the site so have not heard about Kayal's injury}

Believable4 Unbelievable10

Hes defo injured. Be out for next poss 4 games, brown got scan on ankle yesterday too. May miss sat game,

Agree0 Disagree0

Badly swollen is the verdict. Will miss saturday and possibly/probably Sion.

Got absolutely crunched by Drogba (who i dislike even more now)

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like it was only vary badly swollen ankle, kayal said he thought drogba broke his ankle in the tackle so fingers crossed, if he does miss the match v Dundee utd then it's only precautionary.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kayal says he hopes to face Dundee United this weekend. The boy's a trooper

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the replies bhoys and glad to hear the injury isn't too bad.
If he does have to sit Saturday out though I would go with a midfield of Brown Ki Ledley Commons. Possibly giving Paddy some game time too.

Bunny Munro

Agree0 Disagree0

I would personally pull brown, commons, forrest and any other of our players out of the scotland future squads.our players pick up to many injuries playing for them remember john kennedy what has the national team ever done for us.tommy burns was number 3 to walter and non experience ally all overseen by gordon smith=jim farry=***,george peat=*** and the most blatant they never roofed our fans for decades at the national stadium.get my drift, cmon you bhoys in green

Agree0 Disagree0

What a shocking thing to say Just because you have an axe to grind, doesn't mean that the club should deny these guys the chance to represent their country. Players get injured, it's a contact sport. No-one who heard/read Forrest's interview about being called up could deny the lad the chance to play for Scotland. Get a grip

11 Aug 2011 18:51:16
Hey folks I don't know about everyone else, but I am sick of the transfer policy at Parkhead. I pay £550 quid every year and we still havent signed a keeper I follow the Bhoys everywhere and Zaluska just aint good enough. Wish we could just pay up for the Polish lad looks a great prospect.

Believable16 Unbelievable11

Couldn't agree more I actually responded to an earlier post of similar nature. Rangers are there for the taking all we need to do is Improve in a couple of areas. Everyone and their granny can see what we need so what's the problem? Why are we being outbid for the young polish keeper it's a disgrace get the finger out and get players in. What are we paying for ?
Sorry for the rant but I'm sick of Celtic's stalling and penny-pinching tactics yet they expect us to pay top dollar for our season books.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah the boards gonnae gie lenny a chance but probably sell in jan window...

Agree0 Disagree0

I have said for ages i am also fed up i have a season ticket too but am seriosly considering giving it up if lenny wasnt their i would have given it up a long time ago 3 million should be paid to get such a vital part of the team

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more. Get ur finger out Celtic & buy someone who actually want to play for us instead of a Notts Forrest bench warmer.

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know this young keeper is any better than zaluska he has had 2 clean sheets in the spl so far out of 2 games

Agree0 Disagree0

Hey how are you? I could not agree with you more. The sum of money that we would have had to pay for this guy is next to nothing. Genk have apparently offered 1 million and it has been accepted. How on earth can we not offer this amount up front. Why are we offering 500, 000 up front with add ons. Would you go in to buy a pair of shoes, pay for one and then pay for the other throughout the year - depending on how often you wear them. It is a joke and the fans deserve better. WE are alos not been told the truth as the polish club are asying we have not been in touch with them for days - NL said he thought we were "not far away with this signing. I for one will not be going to the matches until this is resolved as Zaluska in goal is a nightmare. HE has had to clean sheets but barely a shot on goal. NL said he hoped to sign a kepper before the Hibs match - then it was before the Aberdeen match - what now. what til we drop points due to his mistakes and then do something.

Agree0 Disagree0

But you dont buy a season ticket for the board to spend money, you buy it to support your team no matter if their in the top flight spending millions or the lowest division spending nothing

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said a celt for life not just for trophies

Agree0 Disagree0

It's the fans like this poster "You buy a season ticket to support you team" that hold us back. So i'm guessing your one of the guys who doesn't mind us losing? Get a grip. Celtic have and will always be winners in my eyes, so don't come out with that garbage-I'm guessing you believe the boards propaganda then eh? We NEED a goalkeeper And to the guy that said 2 clean sheets are you for real? Did you see who we were playing? A Hibs team who didnt have a shot on target and an Aberdeen side who are in dire neeed of a striker. I'm glad to see that there is still some sensible Celtic fans left out there though

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic need to get the finger out with transfers.anything we have done are mostly free's from pre contracts in january

Agree0 Disagree0

We just can't go out and slash money that we don't have. Your ticket money isn't all about buying players. Lets just get behind Zaluska if he's gonna be No1. Get a grip man

Agree0 Disagree0

If we don't strengthen by adding a keeper and a centre forward at least and then go on to lose the league there will be a fans revolt. Not at Lenny but at the board. Oh well we might sign Willo Flood again in January

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm wondering why we signed another midfielder in Wanyama when it is clear we needed a new keeper a centre half and a target man more. Starting to get concerned at the lack of movement both ways as we have so much deadwood in the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

RE: Wanyama

He was cheap and I think Celtic were trying a foray into the African market for merchandise sales as we also targetted another couple of African players (Musona and the guy Rangers were also looking at).

On topic: I have faith that we'll still bring in a few players as there's still a lot of dealing to be done. We do NEED a goalkeeper as whatever way you look at it having only 2 keepers is a gamble, albeit one unlikely to cause bother. I'd rather bring in another 1st choice keeper as IMO Zaluska is decent but does need to improve his confidence which is probably a lot of the reason he's error prone and if we're signing a keeper we may as well bring in one better than what we have. Cervi has never looked terrible but I'm not sure he could step up to the plate if Zaluska was injured long term. Our 3rd choice would be an unknown (probably Robbie Thomson or Giordano if he's still at the club) from the U19s which is never really a good idea unless they're hot property with 1st team experience.

A tall striker to work with Hooper and Stokes and a loanee to cover at LB would also be nice.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks a great prospect ? apply for a job scouting then. how much have you actually seen of him ? very little i imagine and i'll leave it to lenny to decide who he brings in.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is nothing to do with having seen Wanyama play, doubting his ability or even Lennon's signings. We are midfield heavy and the money spent on Wanyama could have been used for the Polish keeper.

Agree0 Disagree0

We really need to strengthen defence, attack and get a new keeper. at the moment these are the areas that rangers are ahead of us. if rangers get some midfielders i can see us struggling. come on lenny get your finger out

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama is a DEFENSIVE Midfielder who Lenny said he'd be looking to play at centre half as often if not more than in midfield. So why oh why do people keep saying we need another centre half. We have about 15

We do need a keeper, but I have faith that we will get the right one in, Celtic will be linked with everyone until the window shuts. I trust the board to get the one who ticks ALL the boxes including (like it or not) cost and wages as well as how good they are.

Agree0 Disagree0

Feruz is about 99% certain to sign for Chelsea.

IF Hooper left it certainly wouldn't be to a nothing team like Everton.

Ricardo Gardner signed a new deal with Bolton last week.

We have more than enough central midfielders, as good as Hargreaves is/was he will NEVER be seen in a Celtic shirt.

polish keeper undergoing medical in next couple of days at Henley

Believable6 Unbelievable15

Hope it's true. The Polish press are reporting tonight that Sandomierski refused to talk to the Belgian press about the possible transfer and claim that he is STILL holding out for a move to celtic. Balls in Celtic's court i guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic are in danger of missing out on signing Grzegorz Sandomierski after Genk agreed a fee for the Poland international goalkeeper.

SPL side Celtic had been discussing a deal for Sandomierski with his club Jagiellonia Bialystok, but have so far been unable to settle on a price.

The Polish side have now announced that they have agreed a fee with Genk and that Sandomierski would have a medical on Friday after travelling straight to Belgium following Poland's friendly against Georgia.

Lennon had described Sandomierski as having "huge potential" on Sunday as he reported that the club "might be further down the line" with attempts to sign him.

The Celtic manager has been looking for a goalkeeper to compete with Lukasz Zaluska since Fraser Forster returned to Newcastle following a season-long loan.

Attempts to sign Forster on a permanent deal failed and Lennon did not follow up his initial interest in Stipe Pletikosa after the Croatia international played two friendly matches for Celtic as a trialist.

Sandomierski revealed earlier in the week that he would be keen on a move to Parkhead to follow in the footsteps of his compatriot Artur Boruc, however, he now looks to be on his way to Genk.

Do you have a link for the press in poland saying that he will not talk to Genk?

Celtic youngster Feruz set to snub SPL for Chelsea

Scotsman - Andrew Muirhead - 15 hours ago

CELTIC are poised to lose one of their top youngsters to Chelsea, as striker Islam Feruz is set to swap Parkhead for Stamford Bridge.

Also Genk are on the verge of signing the goalkeeper.

Believable11 Unbelievable8

Andrew muirhead has been banging on about feruz for a while now and says he has inside info. i think he has been hanging around the celtic burger van.

Agree0 Disagree0

Disgrace after what Tommy Burns done fir him. There's just no loyalty in football these days, money talks. Feruz will go down there and be forgot about so i say so long ya wee traitor.

Agree0 Disagree0

Someone is living in a time warp, this is not news it's been speculated on for about a week now. Still no official confirmation from either club though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a Gers man but i was sickened by this story. Celtic and Tommy Burns in particular jumped through hoops for this boy and his family. It's totally unethical that a 15 year old should be getting 2500 a week. I don't have a problem with players moving on to bigger and better things but he's 15 and would have been better served staying here for a few years then moving on but greed has obviously got the better of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

This guy andrew muirhead is the only person reporting this as far as i can see he has written in scotzine espn blog and now the scotsman either he has inside info or its just bulls**t

As i said yesterday NO , surely somebody at cp can see what we(the fans)see in this guy, just not good enough, ed could you phone lenny and tell him to leave it and sign big packie bonner instead
big paul

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree he had a howler against leeds recently. not worth te money. the pole looks a better bet

Agree0 Disagree0

If this is true im with u m8, to spend nearly 3million for him as i understand is mental as they will not stump up 2 million for the polish keeper, who already has caps and looks like a great future, really doesnt make sense, does lennon see something in forster last year that we clearly didnt, cmon lennon get a grip and sign the polish boy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really have not seen anything to suggest he is a first class keeper

Agree0 Disagree0

Better the devil you know. Admittedly Foster was unconvincing, but he was not bad,

David

Agree0 Disagree0

God no, nice big guy but defo not celtic class ,

Agree0 Disagree0

And you all believe the rumours ? get a grip. clyde 1 is just the record on the radio

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps its the fact he was part of a defence which kept a clean sheet record? is still only very young? perhaps he saw the rapor he had with his team mates that most fans won't have seen? the fact he's english - and when he starts to gain a bit of pedigree for himself will be worth a few bob?

if you lot can 'see' that Sandomierski would be a better deal - then i bet my bottom dollar that Lennon could - if that would even be the case.

i have faith in Neil, the rest of the coaching staff and any players they bring in

Agree0 Disagree0

Tbh dont think big lurch is as bad as you guys make out. Yeah he has a few things he can improve on, but mind he's also young and will only get better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it really going to be three million? Romero, Argentina's number 1 is moving to serie B for the same amount

Agree0 Disagree0

Whyy? just pay the money for the Polish keeper

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we pay 2m or something for this muppet when we could get the Polish No:1 keeper for 2m just doesn't make sense

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see how this guy is any better than Zaluska.

Agree0 Disagree0

Starting to doubt Lennys judgement? What about Izzy, Kayal, Hooper and Commons.. his judgement there wasn't too bad eh?

Agree0 Disagree0

Get a grip we need a keeper for europe as time is pressing on Id rather have forster than zaluska in goal

Agree0 Disagree0

I've still not forgiven Forster for the Co-op Cup Final. How those goals by Davis and Jelavic were able to slowly creep past him and trickle in off of the post when he's 6'7" is beyond me. Nice big guy and an honest enough professional but if there's better available, we should go get it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes made about a handful a gd saves but member cup final he shld a saved davis n jelavic's goals n tbh a guy his size getn chipped aff deek riordan defo sign him

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks guys, I sit in the north stand every 2nd week and there's not a person within 500 yards off me that rates him, doesn't command his area, his kick outs are terrible and he's not agile enough to get down to low shots. New this was coming tho. Just new it

Agree0 Disagree0

TBH has anyone consistently seen sandomierski play. think everyone has the idea he's another Boruc. big forster did ok last year. I would take a punt on Oscar Ustari of Getafe. only 25 and i know we were linked in the past. just my thoughts

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh well just noticed ustari is injured till december so my last post was pretty pointless

Agree0 Disagree0

I want Sandomierski too but Forster is FAR from rotten, get a grip

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes trying 2 pull th wool over ure eyes he cant buy anybody

Agree0 Disagree0

Ustari? Is that before or after we sign Sherman Cardenas & Tommy Hoiland?

Football Manager isn't real life you know.

TrampsPants

Agree0 Disagree0

Izzy, Kayal and hooper were brought to his judgement by the Celtic scouting network so there, let's face it Fraser Forster is a poor mans McGregor 4 in a row if he comes back

Agree0 Disagree0

Ustari would cost a bomb. He's had top European clubs interested on and off for seasons so as soon as someone makes a bid another 10 will follow.

And Newcastle want more for Forster than the Polish club want for Sandomierski. I highly doubt we've made another bid unless he's kicking up a fuss and/or Newcastle have lowered their demands.

I thought Forster was ok. His kicking is a bit erratic but I'd be happy enough as he'll be playing with the confidence of having a season's first team football already behind him and will only improve. I also think he's better than Zaluska.

Agree0 Disagree0

U mention Lennons judgment on Kayal, Hooper, Izzy & Commons but have forgot about all the other muppets like Murphy & also the fact he persists with Scott Brown, big Dan & Sami & why was Stokes stuck on the left for so long against the Dons ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough players are scouted by our network.. but Lennon has the final say if they should try and be signed up

Agree0 Disagree0

Aw yeah i forgot to mention those numties, sounds as if you'd make a good Celtic manager NL signed practically a full new team last season and got them playing some great stuff. Put it this way i trust Lennons judgement but know every signing aint gonna be a roaring success

Agree0 Disagree0

Tramps pants it is f**k all to do wae champ manager. The fact that he was a little out of favour at Getafe and has never been considered undisputed no 1. that is why i would take a gamble and the fact i've watched him since he was at independiente. but i noticed he is out injured with cruciate damage. so i said to scrap that idea

The club are trying to secure a keeper, they thought the deal was done with the Polish lad until it was trumped. No new players will be brought in. The club is skint, with the major reason being failure to get major money from doing well in Europe. We had targets that were going to be signed on the back of the sale of izzy to Arsenal, but that won't happen now due to his injury. Sandomierski will sign for Genk in the next 24 hrs. V.Good source.

Believable7 Unbelievable11

Do we really require fresh new players ? We have already brought in 3 players who are turning out to be decent players. All we need is to get a goalkeeper in and then i think we are sorted for this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

We do need a Goalie. Cervi is not up to it as the management admit every time he plays for the first team and Lucas is a good back up but not a first choice. The problem is the longer the target goalie is only a target the less chance of us getting him.

also - Celtic interested in loan move for Yossi Bennaoun from Chelsea - sorry about the spelling, the attacking mid they signed from Liverpool is the one i am referring to

Believable3 Unbelievable16

Hope we dont sell hooper unless we can replace hime with quality. Tossi going to spurs as part of modric deal.

This is total bull everton couldnt afford 1 million never mind 5 for hooper

Im a Everton fan too and we're skint. 5 million are you serious. Everton havent spent that kindd of money in ages

Agree0 Disagree0

And how does that balance the books, Sell a player for 5 Million who might get you into the Champions League next year and sign a guy on about 60 grand a week that might not get a game in the strongest department of our team.

thanks ed, think we will try n get a loan deal in the last week of the window {Ed001's Note - actually I am not sure, I heard some talk that Lennon is not keen on having a keeper on loan again. The problem being that clubs won't loan them unless they are guaranteed games and he was not all that impressed with the lad you had last season. I have to stress this is just what I am being told not something I can verify, but it does make sense that a manager wouldn't want a player that they can't drop if need be.}

We shouldnt have to loan , were celtic ffs, johnny

This is nonsense, no loan player is guaranteed to be starting ever week. The nmanager will always pick the team and leave players out if he thinks it is appropriate. {Ed001's Note - not true, most English Premier League teams put clauses in the loan contract regarding the player having to play if fit. A number of non-loan players have similar clauses in their contract (ie Joe Cole at Liverpool hence him always being brought on as a sub towards the end of the season). That is why it an often seem like a manager has favourites who always get picked no matter how poorly they play.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Im surprised he wasnt impressed if he has openly talked about his interest in making a permanent transfer deal for him this summer. did newcastle not knock back a bid. i maybe wrong though {Ed001's Note - I can only go on what I am told, so it may be wrong as well. Like I did say I have no way of verifying it, but it would explain why he is not just brought back as Newcastle are willing to do a deal, they have a number of keepers ahead of him.}
