Today is the 40th Anniversary of the famous 4-2 game. It was Celtic last game of the season and only a victory would guarantee the title.2 goals in the last 5 minutes and the league title was ours.
The old club only needed a draw and then it would have been in their own hands because they had a further 2 matches to play. We won the league on a Monday night and only 2 nights later the old club were home to Partick Thistle and it went down as their worst home league attendance in their history only 2,500 heartbroken fans made the game which they won 1-0 incidentally they lost the last game anyway against Hibs 2-1.
The old club were 5 minutes away playing against 10 men from keeping their title hopes alive yet a couple of nights later they have their worst attendance in their history. They went from the chance of a full house to 2,500 fans in the space of 5 minutes. They must have been devastated.

Today is the 50th Anniversary of the old club being called britains shame after 2,000 fans stormed the pitch after Newcastle went 2-0 up causing 20 minutes delay.
They didn't stop there because pubs, shops and even private homes had their windows smashed in a night of more shame because it was only 6 years previously the same happened when the old club played Wolves, they ran riot in the city centre and that is why their fans are now called huns. The local paper in Wolverhampton said the old clubs fans were behaving like a pack of huns.
