I see some Man Utd fans are upset that Ed Woodward is taking the cheap option by going for Kostas Manolas for £31M. Wee shame that - really hits home where Scottish football stands in the grand scheme of things.

True that Kev. Imagine the pain. That Woodward needs booting out the door at United though. They're squandering obscene amounts on average players. Not to mention the salaries of the likes of Shaw and Fellaini. Not sure Wyllie but the story I read this morning is that if they are prepared to pay 65m for Maguire. Mental.

Maguire is a very average centre half but he is worth every penny of the £65 m if Manchester United are stupid enough to pay it . Similarly if some cash rich Championship team or lower EPL want to waste £10 m on S McKenna, we certainly can't blame Aberdeen or Mc Kenna and have to accept that his valuation.

Essentially a player is worth what somebody pays Chris, I'd agree with that. But we can disagree with said valuations. Even if we had the money, or I was a Man Utd fan, I'd be disappointed with that. Similarly I'd be raging if we spent the reported 8-10m on McKenna. Is the market really going up at such a rate? 65m for Maguire? Is it even a year ago where a fraction more got you Van Dijk. Arguably the worlds best?

There is an arrogance in England, having an English centre back commanding a mahoosive transfer fee with boost the medias ego and opinion of his national team and league. However I see their result last nigh and that's some score line.
