Today, I am going to buy myself a BUNNET

It is 25 years since Fergus McCann saved our club, with of course enormous help from us Celtic fans. But he paid the bills to thwart our enemies attempts to kill our great club, which was also put in danger by our old incompetent nepostistic board.
Reading some of the tributes really brought it home how lucky we Celtic fans were that he answered our calls for help. Because Liquidation was a real concern, and Celtic would NOT have had the "new company, same club" crap. No the SMS media would have BURIED us.
Hail hail The Bunnet
A REAL CELTIC MAN.

The man deserves great credit, have thought for a while now that Fergus McCann should have some recognition around the stadium, a statue on Celtic Way would be fitting gesture.

Ryanspappa that is a great idea. He truly deserves the recognition for the hard work and devotion he put into our club. He will always be a true legend in our history.

{Ed007's Note - Fergus McCann has consistently turned down any offer of any recognition and especially a statue.}

Not to take anything away from his vital contribution in saving us from the same fate suffered by oldco. I do think we are guilty of revisionism when we put him on a pedastal.

I remember when he left most of the Celtic fans I know were glad to see the back of him because of his broken promises, the handling of some player contracts and the Wim Jansen debacle.

I've went on about a statue for years but I had heard he refused permission when it was muted.

The players that the bunnet was dealing with were needing hunted. Pierre’s comment about £6,000 being a lot of money if you’re homeless and that wee fascist Di Canio spring to mind as does the Portuguese man of war with the perm and the Rodgers ego.

He is up there with the Celtic grates as far as I am concerned.

I never knew that ed007.

Just shows you how humble a person McCann is.

{Ed007's Note - He's been asked a few times over the years if he was open to a statue or bust, there was even a suggestion made about calling a stand after him but he isn't interested. He still buys 4 season tickets every year as well.}

Fergus didn’t get everything right, He didn’t take any bull from certain players and the paper pushers at the SFA, he was wrongly booed on flag day and we should make amends for that day, history shows what can happen when a club goes to the wall, he could have let us go bust and pick us up for next to nothing, he Brian Dempsey and many others didn’t, he always did what he thought was best for Celtic’s future, We are in a great place domestically because the of his foresight, our club today is here due to the “Rebels” and Fergus McCann was a key man 25 years ago.
The words “The Rebels have won” will never be forgotten.
