Said earlier in the season that the Slippy G appointment was similar to our John Barnes. Both ex Liverpool, both inexperienced, both brought in as a name to appease disgruntled fans, both showed initial improvement and gave clubs a lift ( although Barnes started off a lot better than Slippy has) Barnes amassed 14 wins from first 16 games. It was round about the beginning of November it started to go Pete Tong for Barnes, the honeymoon period was over. By this logic Slippy should be sacked by February when the Sevies get pumped out in the 4th round of the Scottish cup by ICT 😂😂.

Stevie

Do you think if Larsson hadn't broke his leg in Lyon. Barnes time may have been different?

Did Barnes’ managerial career ever recover from CFC failure?

I doubt Born Slippy will recover. It doesn’t look promising.

Is the latest manager another Dud?

Could of been Hh . Think I remember Barnes saying a few years later it could of been different that season if he had Larsson all season. I mind we started that season on fire, we scored something like 25 goals in our first 6 games.

The media couldn't wait for Barnes to fail, whereas they are right up Gerrard's bum crack, refusing to question or criticize in any way.
Had to laugh at him slagging off the players - he himself - brought in and how they are going to conjure up better (when they're skint) .
Wonder how the laptop-loyal with react to another couple of defeats?

{Ed007's Note - People forget that Barnes was actually chosen by so called Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish and that Larsson breaking his leg in the October threw a massive spanner in the works.}

I think Stevie G is closer to the Liam Brady scenario than barnes ed.

{Ed007's Note - Brady's playing career and 18-year career as Head of Arsenal's Youth Academy already surpasses anything Gerrard will do in the game - Gerrard couldn't even manage Liverpool's Under18's!}

Good observation Ed. Slippy can gain more experience, he can learn from his mistakes as he goes along, but he’ll never escape that one fatal flaw he has -

Bad Judgement!

I think there is a distinct possibility that Sevco will drop points on Wed against a very capable and determined Kilmarnock team. They should beat St Mirren on Sat but depending on their frame of mind, you never know, their record of dropping points away from home may continue. I feel confident that Spartak Moscow will pump them and if all of this comes to pass, I think Slippy G will lose his job before Christmas. Normally, I don’t like to see people lose their job but in this instance, I feel jelly and ice cream may be called for.
