Many of our negative fans blame Lawwell for all the woes at Celtic .
Facts are Lawell is carrying out the will and the budget set by the Board and he has done a damn good job of it . He has surprised us often by how much he can get for players who insisted on moving on and also regularly brings in players at prices that appear very cheap.

What effects our club the most is the angry self seeking fans by their negative posts. On Celtic forums or by their abuse from our stands, both destroy some of our players confidence and certainly show no sign that they are Celtic supporters and support all the players .
It's amazing how well Boyata is playing, by playing in the World Cup he found his confidence and has played superbly in his 3 games . He looks the real deal as a centre half, we never seen that form before as Boyata had many fools giving him shoite.

Completely agree Chris. Despite the size of our club, our opportunities to generate revenue are severely hampered by the fact that we operate in a league outwith the elite club of countries who benefit from UEFA and the television companies vision of the future of football. Celtic nevertheless punch above our weight both on and off the field and Peter Lawell has overseen that performance for the last 15 years. He’s as important to Celtic as BR in my opinion.

06 Sep 2018 01:43:19
Another point regarding ‘fools giving him ‘shoite’. I’m continually hearing people criticising our defence generally. We had three defenders playing in the World Cup in the summer, two of whom made the last eight. There are probably very few teams in the world that are in that position and none of those players are even our best defender.

06 Sep 2018 06:56:53
I can't really see how having a grumble "effects your club the most. " Even the weather effects the club more than that.

06 Sep 2018 07:21:55
Yip it's all those big bad Celtic fans fault. The one's who pay to watch their team. Follow them regardless of any mistakes made.

It was our fault Boyata and Dembele spat the dummy out.
It was our fault we had a nightmare in the transfer market.

If you want to be a board apologists fair enough but don't blame the fans.

Celtic plc are only babysitting Celtic it's our club and we have every right to question them. Some have a cheek saying the people are gullible.

06 Sep 2018 09:19:36
On the Boyata front, I've heard his Agent was the main instigator in trying to get Boyata to leave. He was badly adviced and is looking for a new Agent. Yes in doesn't take away his part in the Saga but if he keeps playing the way he has, I'll be be more than happy if he signs a new contract.
PS I hate International Breaks!

one win against a terrible hun side and all of a sudden Lawwell is god again?

It's like Kim Jong-Un, the guy can do no wrong.

Lets just totally gloss over the fact that if "they" didn't die, Lawwell could not afford to underspend and still win the league.

For example we would have lost the league last season in which we were poor. Lennon done well for us but was still lucky after they died. Deila as well.

Lawwell took over in 2003, they died in 2011. In those 9 seasons Celtic won 5 titles. They won 4.

They had just won 3 titles in a row against us before going bust. Lawwell had lost the grip on domestic dominance built on the Oneill era.

These are just facts, so anyone trying to argue with them is just at it.

06 Sep 2018 16:48:12
There is no Doubt Lawwell has done great for our club and is still doing a great job for our club but in my opinion negotiating to bring in payers he is not good at and IMO he should take a step to the side on that matter and give it to some one ealse.

06 Sep 2018 17:05:49
Tesla369 in those 9 years your banging on about it's been discovered that rangers had been using illegal tax avoidance schemes and would not have been able to compete with us without them.

They're chairman and manager's all admitted to that.

06 Sep 2018 17:46:16
That’s complete nonsense Chris, the fact remains that Celtic have an enormous amount of money in the bank, are making record breaking profits and sponsorship deals, selling players for fortunes.
The deficiencies in defence has been there for years, and I don’t want to see £m in bank or profits, I want to see good football on the park.

06 Sep 2018 17:49:11
Things are what they are. Surely we have all made mistakes Boyatas mistake was employing a greedy greedy agent who wrongly advised him. He apologised. With all that has gone on yes we expected things differently however things don't always go to plan. I have ad feeling that no matter what we had done if different some folk would still find stuff to complain about, it's some people's nature and of course their right to voice their concerns.

It would be good though putting all different opinions aside if for the short term we all just supported the team, if BR puts them on the park that's good enough for me. BR and the board inc Lawell have given us what we have had over the last two seasons let's not be so quick to forget.

Even then some were still very very vocal about things they were unhappy about after a double treble. It's fair to say I think some criticism is way over the top but that's just my opinion which is in no way more valid than those who disagree. We are all after all Celtic supporters faithful through and through.

06 Sep 2018 19:17:47
Does everyone that's shouting about deficiencies in defence realise that we have signed 4 defenders and 2 goalkeepers in 2 years. The reason we have deficiencies in defence lie at the gaffer and the recruitment teams door.

06 Sep 2018 20:04:44
Sitting here on my balcony on my mid season break😎 and nothing changes, Teslas still spouting Shiite. Why did they die? Does it not enter your head they died trying to match us on the park I. e spending money they didn't have between 2003 and 2012.

06 Sep 2018 20:30:49
I’ve had no issue with Lawell, the board, the manager or anyone else at the club whether it was before or after the Sevco game. Making a profit is a good thing. Having cash reserves is also a good thing. The concept of spending money because you’ve got it is akin to a wee boy going into a sweet shop, putting all his money on the counter and asking the shopkeeper what he can get for that. Rangers had this approach to running their club/ company and it didn’t end well. To suggest that a club who has just won every domestic trophy put in front of them for the last two years and has just broken their incoming and outgoing transfer records and has allegedly refused offers in excess of £10M for several of their players, has a problem with their recruitment is just fekin ridiculous. There has been a ridiculous media campaign ever since slippy arrived in Glasgow and whether or not you read the Scottish press or not, everyone comes into contact with those that do and when you hear this nonsense being regurgitated day after day, the more gullible among us start to believe it and the lie gathers momentum. Celtic are in great shape and PL and the board are to be congratulated for that.

06 Sep 2018 21:01:09
Well said COYBIG 👏👏.

06 Sep 2018 22:28:48
Stevie are you claiming Lawwell has done a good job this season?

despite the fact that we have downsized to the point we can't even beat AEK Athens who have a terrible budget in comparison.

06 Sep 2018 22:37:20
I'm hoping the game last week gave the team a reset. We looked sharp early pre season. The media and club troubles took a sharpness from us when we needed it. We should of moved more on in this window fringe player wise. Should of addressed problem areas quicker. We have made some very capable additions but i think we could of and should of been more aggressive. The facts are that even our fringe players are starters for other teams in the division. Which is fine. It's not pushing forward and bringing the 4players that will keep the first 11 on their toes. Eddy is a starter. Benkovic could be. The rest are good back ups that will do us a turn. I really rate mulumbu and Morgan looked exciting but bar injuries I can't see them as first picks if our cms and wingers are on it. I'm a greedy b@st##d but my heart is in the right place and I'm not alone in my thinking. The lads that are here have my full backing and there will be a hunger in the squad to push on, of that I'm sure.

07 Sep 2018 00:11:37
What is AEK Athens budget, Tesla?

07 Sep 2018 00:28:02
Tesla, only a fool would judge a CEO over a club's transfers over one season . Also P L doesn't do the whole work regarding transfers . At least 2 or 3 other people at Celtic have a major role in getting players in .
John McGinn is probably the player most people think of when they are considering the transfer window just past . Now I am led to believe that Petrie the Hibs Chairman vowed that PL at Celtic would never sign another player after P L signed Bains from Dundee when he was already on loan to Hibs .
Sometimes there can be a reason why certain things don't happen . All I know that if we really started protesting about wanting P L out, we as a club would be weaker, there is strength in unity . Of course we want improvement, we should try to improve the whole club.

07 Sep 2018 05:42:37
COYBIG. that is perhaps the best analogy with kids in a sweetie shop. We have started to become like our neighbours in that we are demanding what actually might be not there. Two trebles, still in europe, in perhaps a competition where we don't face a 500 mill strike force and can compete. Defence failure is definitely a mystery to me, but their stevie g train is like a politicians soundbite. substanceless.

07 Sep 2018 11:03:42
Name the 4 defenders and 2 goal keepers kev, as well as fees.
Some signings don’t work out, but your thinking is we just stick with the dross, there has been plenty money brought in that more than covers the bad buys that have been made.

07 Sep 2018 11:36:40
I’m afraid I don’t buy the defence failure line. Yes we have lost goals very cheaply in some games, mainly in Europe it has to be said where sadly there is no longer a level playing field but I’ll concede we have lost a couple of howlers in domestic competition as well. The point is that every team at every level loses cheap goals at times, Slippy G will testify to that. I make no apology for harking back once again to the fact that three separate international managers consider our defenders good enough to play at a World Cup so I think there may be substantial room for debate about how strong/ weak they are. As far as the Stevie G revolution goes, this is just comedy gold. As you mention Bribhoy, sound bites and unsubstantiated nonsense printed and re-printed by lazy talentless hacks are being lapped up by the persons who are so desperate for anybody to come in and be their saviour that they’ll believe almost anything and ignore all the really serious problems that exist at the club/ company, and these problems aren’t just going to go away. There are more good times ahead.

07 Sep 2018 15:12:13
Place is full of board apologists.

07 Sep 2018 18:55:29
I have never come across a sane person who is a Board apologist .
I have frequently came across persons who blame board members for all Celtic woes .
Those of us who were born in the '40's 50's 60's or 70's are fully aware off what
Fergus Mc Cann achieved with Celtic, idiots booed Mr McCann and actually disgraced the good name of the Celtic supporters . McCann took over the club when Scotland's anti Celtic Society tried to close us down and built the club stadium and team t the best in the Country . Thankfully he is now feted by everyone connected to Celtic as one of Celtic's all time greats.

07 Sep 2018 20:32:15
Yeah what a hero walking away with millions of the Celtic fans money. Mind you he's a massive Celtic man he's at the games all the time.

07 Sep 2018 21:24:13
Happyhoopy didn't some posters on here think u were a Rangers2012 fan?
Of course Happy hoopy knows plenty of Celtic supporters living in Canada and aged between late 70's or early 80's who attend Celtic home games on a regular basis.

07 Sep 2018 21:39:39
Yeah he's been in Canada all his life and always been that age. He was a member of the same supporters bus my uncle run in Croy. Very rarely went to games. Left owing them money.

Yeah I have been accused of being a support of the dark side. As I've said I will meet anyone at any game and prove my Celtic credentials.

You mentioned people remember what Fergus done. If he had built the training ground which he said would happen if all targets were meet I wouldn't begrudge him. All targets were meet no training.
