Peter Lawwell and I quote:

"Every transfer window we aim to come out of it stronger than we went into it and that's what we will do"

Please explain?

We’ve just broken our record for buying a player and for selling a player. We’ve held on to every first team regular bar one and we’ve brought in a couple of half decent squad players who may or may not have an impact. Stop reading the pish that the Scottish press write about us and open your eyes.

Ice man perhaps you can explain how you think we are weaker? Yes we sold Dembele for a record fee but we still have Eddy and Griffiths. We have a CB which we badly needed. I can't understand where all this doom and gloom is coming from.

01 Sep 2018 00:38:13
I’ll explain it very quickly for you Malky. We’ve lost Armstrong, Roberts and now Dembele without replacing any of them. That makes us weaker.

01 Sep 2018 00:39:05
I don’t read the press COYBIG. It’s my opinion.

01 Sep 2018 00:41:28
There’s certainly no doom and gloom here in any event but there’s no doubt we’re not the squad we’d had this time last year. Although the Sunday game will be incredible towards a massive hoops win.

01 Sep 2018 00:55:28
Neither Roberts nor Armstrong played regularly last year. Dembele was a top class striker but towards the end of last season, Eddy emerged as our top striker so I’d say he replaced him. We’ve also signed a CB from the Croatian champions but somehow Sevco are stronger because they signed a CB from the team that was 7th in the Croatian League. Over to you Iceman.

01 Sep 2018 00:58:27
Stopped reading at we lost dembele. we had 3 top strikers, we now have 2 top strikers. We are now 1 top striker weaker.

01 Sep 2018 01:31:11
COYBIG at what point did I mention anything about that other lot let alone that they’re stronger. They don’t interest me. Regardless of whether Armstrong and Roberts played or not they were still quality players that we had the option to call upon (when they weren’t injured) last season. They have now gone and not been replaced therefore we are now weaker. It’s really not that difficult to understand. I put it to you COYBIG do you think the squad we have right now is stronger than the one we had this time last year?

01 Sep 2018 03:19:05
We loaned a Croatian from Leicester we could have bought 3 seasons ago but penny pinched and bought the cheaper optiin that was jozo siminovic.

01 Sep 2018 04:37:20
Coybig, Armstrong played 40 games last year, a blind man on horseback can see we are a lot weaker than last year. we keep hearing about all the money we have, how big profits we make, stupid fancy lights etc,
Me and my 3 boys have season books, my hands never out my pockets at parkhead, and here we are again, making fortunes in the transfer market, and bringing in freebies and loans, it’s an absolute disgrace, and I’m totally sickened by the way we’re being run at the moment.

01 Sep 2018 09:14:04
I wouldn’t say the squad is stronger than last year but I don’t think it’s been weakened much. When you’ve already got a good team, holding on to the majority of your key players is at least as important if not more important than signing new players who may or may not settle and make an impact. We’ve done that and we’ve shown a profit as well. We’re miles ahead of the rest of Scotland and even if Sevco start giving us a game now, which I doubt, we should still have enough to consistently beat them and win trophies. As for Europe, they’ll just make it harder for us every year so do we really want to spend like Sevco did previously to try and compete in a rigged competition? BTW Jag, Armstrong didn’t play 40 times, it was only 39.

Maybe we can be like the tribute act and spend the menage money. Our wage bill needs trimmed as it's running over 50 mill a year. If we do we would have a smaller squad and less depth which wouldn't do. We can't afford to go out and spend spend especially after breaking a club record. Any other season if we had done this we would all delighted I am think Eddy will be brilliant this year. Don't let the bast Ards get you down our great club will prevail.

01 Sep 2018 09:46:29
Jaj73, its no use putting your point of view over to some supporters. Yes we are weaker but when you get posters telling you we are no different from last season then they are just in denial. Just to lose Dembele makes us weaker, never mind Armstrong etc. We never played great from January and the Rangers games papered over the cracks.

01 Sep 2018 10:32:39
Back to back trebles and we’re ‘papering over the cracks’. I’ve heard it all now.

01 Sep 2018 11:14:54
COYBIG, the back to back trebles have gone. I am looking at this season. We are not playing great. let's see what happens tomorrow then come back and post.

01 Sep 2018 13:01:40
Good idea Johnny. Let’s wait and see what happens over the next few months before we start hitting the panic button. Perhaps that’s what all the doomsday posters should be doing as well instead of helping out the James Traynor led stenographers relay the ‘facts’ of the Stevie G revolution and the concomitant Celtic implosion.

First time posting here but an avid lurker, its hard watching it all unfold from the other side of the World but at the same time it is what it is.

I think Izzaguire coming back is a great move, his directness is exactly what we need, if you watch him play then you will see he is the one player in the team that is hardly ever looking for that sideways or back to defender pass. he may be getting on but his legs look fresh and he is one of us.

Edouard is going to come on and be a solid signing, yes maybe he may go in 2 or 3 years but that's the climate we are in now and we have to live with it. Im looking forward to him pairing with Griffiths.

Benkovic may be here for only a year, but he will stabilise our defence, I'm certainly not upset at getting a £10MILL + Defender on loan, be ready for Boyata to go next but let's all be honest, how many on here would have thought it was an outrage to be selling him anyway? He adds a bit of rigour to our back line but he has been caught ball watching so many times,

All in let's hope we have our ducks in a row come January, surely we can't screw up two windows in a row. We all need to get behind this team, its the one we have and it the one we support. Blind loyalty it is for sure and the past few seasons that has been overlooked by the board. I for one still have faith in Brendan.
