I think we should look on this as a blessing in disguise, the team wasn't ready for the champions league, what with injuries and bad form, now, the Europa league beckons, let's just go and win the thing, MON was ecstatic about reaching the final in Seville, this squad is younger and I think has more potential, some of these guys are very young, they will make mistakes, I wish some of the fair weather supporters would give them some slack, yeah, yesterday was a bad day at the office, and I think eight times out of ten we would have got through, but just be patient, this young team is a work in progress.

Blessing in disguise missing out on £40m and maybe having to sell a couple of players to make up the shortfall?

Win the Europa league! 🙈🙈🙈.

Aindoh, your right about 1 thing, we are a young team. However to bring these young guys on we need a decent blend of youth and experience, and for me especially in defence we’re sorely missing a solid no nonsense centre back with experience to help bring the likes of hendry and ajer on. We cannot year after year give the type of goals away that we’re giving away in these games. Over those two legs I don’t recall Gordon having 1 really good save to make yet they get 3 chances and score everyone of them. IF we don’t sort that defence out now we’re just going to keep having the same issues.

Well we'll take it boyata is finished and compper is going that's us left with 2 boys and jozo who's a bombscare. and am no buying move lustig in so we need a couple of defenders a the least.

At present I think we are going backwards where Europe is concerned and although these early qualifiers do us no favours, the days of us getting through to the last 16 like 2006/ 7, 2007/ 8 and 2012/ 13 are almost impossible these days.
It's not just that top teams are getting better because of obscene wealth and automatic entry, it seems like we have lost the battling and passion that we relied on to make CL nights so special and replaced it with fear, nerves and inferiority.
We have always punched above our weight and gave a good account of ourselves against billionaire clubs eg: Man U, Barca, Ac Milan etc but this season we went into the qualifiers under-prepared, vulnerable and unable to match or compete without making the same mistakes time and again.
It's obvious we are not a CL club - we're not in it; but the manager and players have shown we are a good team when we want to be and the players must show that from now on and stop picking and choosing what games they decide to turn up (we know who they are) , or step aside, while others that are not good enough need to be shipped out and replaced by the best quality and experience we can find in what remains of this window and get us back on track.

Your post might make sense if we kept any of our good players longer than 3 years.

by the time any of these boys reach not even their peak potential they will be sold to the highest bidder.

In other words our squad will continuously just be an inexperienced youth team.

Tesla you have no idea of what you are talking about . BR has only been here 2 years so we cannot know what he will do with players after 3 years
If players demand a move after 1 yr or 4 yrs we have to listen to their request.
