Come on bhoys - I'm shocked by last nights reaction. We had 73% possession last night which doesn't make us a bad team. We had an off night against a well organised team but we will be better in the next game. They had all the luck. I'm confident, despite previous managers away woes, we will get the required result to progress. Hail hail.

Possession doesn’t win games mate. We had nothing in the final 3rd.

Have to agree with you there Campsie Bhoy. It's all well and good saying we had 73% possession but how many shot or clear chances did we Have? They had 10 men from the 57min on. We lacked the quality to break them down.

Come on guys, hold your nerve.
Patience, after the English deadline shuts today, there will be other possibilities when certain squads will be too big and need to off load.

Faith in Brendan and faith in the club.

No use to us if we have been pumped out! We will be looking to sell. We should be looking to strengthen every window. We really need to have a look at MD and his hamstring problems this is when we need him most for the qualifiers and he’s been out for them more than once. Big few weeks for us but if BR doesn’t get backed he won’t stick about.

Don't think faith in Brendan is the problem. It's the club not buying his targets, instead taking in players he did not identify. That is my worry. Again, PL needs to back off and let BR do his job properly.

09 Aug 2018 13:22:23
Absolutely Stan. I thought when BR came in and we showed Park the door we might be turning a corner but there are tell tale signs we are reverting to old ways. I'll still only assess the window at the end as I feel that's when we'll see the most action. Our model, and the glass ceiling we face means we'll be picking up and developing players like Ntcham once the big boys have done their deals.

Ajer has been immense for us but I don't agree with playing him alongside Hendry in our most important game of the season. Any reason why Jozo didn't play? Surely needed a bit of experience in there alongside either Ajer or Hendry not both play both together. Should've had another CB in before the tie. Would've bitten the hand off for Schar at £3m. a steal in today's market. If we get knocked out what "quality" players will want to join us now. The board have gambled yet again when it's been clear defence has been our Achilles heel yet we're risking qualification sticking with it fully knowing we had players at the world cup who would be unavailable for the qualifiers and the possibility of a plastic pitch in qualifiers making Jozo unavailable too.

I'm sickened by the McGinn situation JT, that along with the deals being done that are clearly not Brendans. I still think there's decent deals to be done though but if they are PLs and not BRs he won't be here for 10 that's for sure. PL needs to trust BR and back him, we weren't actually that bad last night just weren't as clinical as we have been recently so it ain't like we need major surgery. As BR said the bare minimum we should be doing is replacing all the players who have left.

Bravetart86 schar is getting around 50 grand a week even though he cost 3 million
Jozo ain't any better than Hendry or ajer. He's a bomb scare. What good did his experience do us when he got sent off in the first round?

09 Aug 2018 14:32:32
AEK Athense let in 12 goals in 30 games in their league last year and their league is better than ours.

This shows how hard it is to break them down.

People who expected us to pump them last night had unrealistic expectations and this probably explains the over reaction to the result.

I won't lose any sleep over the player McGinn, Stan. He was always a squad player for me. Something he apparently isn't willing to be. I thought he would be, and was an ideal candidate but fair play to him if it's not what he wants. What annoys me, like yourself, is that whilst I don't know the ins and outs of negotiations with Hibs, we seem to have dawdled down a dead end (we have to start the process of getting a CM again now) with an affordable target the manager wants whilst signing a player he isn't familiar with. Smells like Park all over again. It doesn't mean everything, but our net spend at the close of play better be more than it is the now.

If we get through in Athens next week do you think the board will say we were fortunate to get through so we had better buy some quality or will they simply say, see what was the problem and carry on? Yes they will just carry on. And even if they did buy in a couple of quality players they would be little use to us for 3 to 4 weeks till they get used to how we play. We have watched whilst Rangers strengthened when we should be putting them and all other SPL teams to the sword. To those that say Sevco are no threat, well maybe they are the same people who were on here a week ago telling us that we were superior to AEKand they were no threat either and shouting anyone down who dared to question their great knowledge of football. We had better get our act together for Hearts and next Wednesday. The players need to step up a level. Yes we should have supported BR better but the existing team need to be better as a unit if we are to continue in CL and dominate the SPL.

Didn't they only score 50 goals or something too? Not going to blow us away but we could do without conceding silly soft goals away. If we grab the first goal then that could rattle them. We are the more experienced team for qualifying so we should be taking advantage of that.

Young McGinn isn't the first member of the McGinn dynasty to split and divide Celtic fans . John is a winner alright, I am sure Aston Villa offered him at least £5 K a week more than they intended to blow Celtic out of the water .
McGinn may be a lot richer playing Championship and possibly Div 1 football than getting opportunities to play in Europe every year if he made our first team.
