Jeezo var and the ref still gets it wrong.

{Ed007's Note - I'm totally 100% against VAR being used. The rules of football are supposed to be universal and the same for every team and player, so why should a WC, CL or Pub League game be decided by VAR while a team in the lower leagues might miss out on promotion because of a wrongly disallowed goal or a penalty not given?
The rules of the game should be same at every level, next we'll have the Sunday morning Da's videoing their kids games and using the footage to contest the ref's decisions.}

A can of worms that should have remained shut.

Quite right Ed.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks.}

Spot on ed watching the Aussie game never a pen for france and that's after var.

It's wasting the game in my opinion. How can u be celebrating a goal n keep one eye on the ref to be told if it's given. Crap.

Some of these games are going to end up with 10 minutes or more extra time because of it.

I think it’s a penalty tbh. The follow through catches Griezmann’s heel for me.

Cuts out honest mistakes. I support it. Nothing worse than a cheat or a bozo costing you games.

Sorry Ed, have to disagree on this.
I am sick to the back teeth of players cheating.
THEY know they are cheating and the result could be a team being relegated, a manager sacked, players put on the dole, clubs going broke, and let's not forget the effect on those supporters who spend their hard-earned money to follow their team around the country and Europe. (large outlay to see your team cheated) .
I have even heard pundits calling it "gaining an advantage"
Your point about level playing fields is fair enough to a point.
If ALL the teams in any single division are playing by the same rules then the playing field is level.
If a team is promoted into a division where VAR etc is used then it will apply to them and they again are part of a level playing field.
The ref cannot see the game from all angles and VAR helps him.
The follow-up to this (imo) is to punish the cheater really hard and maybe stamp it out.

{Ed001's Note - I am 100% with you on this TT. Having VAR should make match fixing more difficult as well.}

If only it had been around to catch that cheat Thierry Henri.

Having Var will make match fixing easier . The person who asks ref to have a look has great powers and just maybe could see the need different if there was a £100k package awaiting him.
