McGinn would be a good signing as a squad player. Brown, eboue, ntcham, rogic, armstrong etc are all miles ahead imo.

{Ed007's Note - McGinn's a totally different type of player to Brown, Eboue Kouassi Ntcham and Rogic though Brendan. If Armstrong leaves all we have to play the box-to-box roles beside Brown is Ntcham so what happens if he gets an injury/suspension or needs a rest?}

I agree, he is a totally different kind of player, but if you make the ridiculous statement that those players are miles ahead of McGinn, I would have to say McGinn is miles ahead of those players, even Brown, .

I don't see what all the fuss is about Mcginn either to be honest. Really can't see where he fits I unless we get loads of injuries.
At the moment my starting midfield would be
Sinclair
McGregor
Ntcham
Brown
Forrest.

{Ed007's Note - If McGinn's signed he won't be playing anywhere the AM 3 though. What do we do if Armstrong leaves and Ntcham gets injured, who plays beside Brown? Kouassi is like Brown and will play as a CDM, Rodgers isn't going to play with 2 CDMs in the Scottish league.}

29 May 2018 17:18:22
I get your point ED, And this is solely just my opinion, But McGinn is SPFL quality at best JUST NOW, he probably will develop into a good player, hence why i think he'd be a squad player, almost like Jack Hendry. If we want to compete in the UCL and UEL then i'd be wanting a higher calibre of player than McGinn, i mind him scoring two good goals against us at CP, But, if we had a better keeper then they shots would have been saved, imo. I would like McGinn to join, as he is good and would ultimatley strengthen the squad, but at UCL level, its a no from me.

{Ed007's Note - First and foremost we need a team that's going to keep us dominating Scottish football, nobody's saying that McGinn will help us in Europe right away but he'll help us keep our stranglehold in Scotland. McGinn bossed our midfield in 3 out of the 4 games I watched (2 of them for sure) and done a hell of a lot more than just score 2 goals against us.}

29 May 2018 17:18:37
forrest? did you not watch the second half of the season? he's poor.

29 May 2018 17:47:53
john is a grafter who will do a lot of the dirty work required in the midfield, i think he would do a job for us, and im not just saying that because im a family friend.

29 May 2018 17:56:49
I'm ambivalent about this one, but I will say this: judging McGinn as he is now would be like judging broony while he was at the hibs. I'd be happy to get him on board and see what he makes of being a celt. I think he could definitely step up.

{Ed007's Note - McGinn's a better player than Brown was at that age. Remember since he signed Brown split the fans and under Lennon and Ronny there were plenty of people that said Brown was finished and/or wasn't good enough. Brown's 33 next month and it's a shame it's only under Rodgers the past couple of years we've seen what he was capable of.}

29 May 2018 18:23:34
Those that said Brown wasn’t good enough or was finished have been shown to have known feck all.

I remember reading comments of some and dismissing every other post they wrote as not worth the bother as they clearly didn’t have a fecking clue.

{Ed007's Note - The hate for Broony was strong for a long while on here, MP.}

29 May 2018 19:42:46
Brown and Mcgregor have improved beyond recognition this season, if we get the forwards flying again we will be some team again next season.

29 May 2018 19:57:11
Ed Scott Brown was a totally different player at Hibs than he is today (he was more forward thinking) , like McGinn he was the top prospect in the country at that time, Scott Brown at this moment in time is the vital cog in Celtic’s midfield, McGinn has a long way to go to be compared to Brown and is behind Rogic, Ntcham, Armstrong and McGregor in terms of big game experience, but he would be a good signing who like Christie and Kouassi would need to hit the ground running if he comes to us .

{Ed007's Note - So we're only signing players that have got "big game experience" now are we, and what big game experience did any of those players you mention have before we signed them? McGinn has shone out against our midfield so that proves he's more than capable of playing domestically for us, our midfield struggled to lay a glove on him most of the season.
People seem to struggle to understand that players play in different positions and have different jobs to do on the park, why the hell would Ryan Christie have any effect on what McGinn does when they're totally different players and play in different positions? Player like Rogic, McGegor and Christie are AMs, Brown and Kouassi are DMs and Ntcham, Armstrong and McGinn play the box-to-box role getting up and down the park.
You wouldn't compare Sinclair to Lustig so why do it with other players.
I would say Aiden McGeady, Shaun Maloney and even Derek Riordan were all better prospects than Brown was when he was at Hibs and that's just off the top of my head.}

29 May 2018 21:00:20
Is there any update on French Eddie? Hearing there is any other bidder or is that just rubbish talk.

{Ed007's Note - Any club, mystery or otherwise, can not approach a player without the permission of his parent club, that's tapping up.}

29 May 2018 21:27:32
McGinn has great potential for us. He's a stand out at hibs, looked great playing against us and in my opinion would be a great addition to the club.
Players who play a certain way at other clubs don't always employ the same skill set at Celtic park.
Remember when Paul Hartley signed? He was a great attacking midfielder but never played the same role for us, my point is talent is talent and it's up to the manager to get the best out of the players in the formation he wants his team to play in.

For the record I thought Scott brown best games were behind him, I never foresaw the impact Brendan would have on his game. The last couple of seasons have been amazing to see the best of Scott brown and the envy that spills out of the rest of Scotland is plain to see. No one (maybe McGinn! ) has layer a glove on him.
More of the same please.

Who would everyone prefer Armstrong or McGinn?

29 May 2018 23:19:07
Mcginn for me, at least his heart would be with us. Brendan will make him an even better player than he has been against us. Armstrong is a great player but it's clear his heart isn't in it with us or he'd have signed a longer deal.

29 May 2018 23:32:59
I would like to see mcginn come in. Let BR work his magic and turn him into the player everyone is saying we need. Raw scottish talent that can be fine tuned in the right hands.

29 May 2018 23:52:15
At the end of the day we’re going to have to replace Armstrong and McGinn is an ideal caalready have Ntcham etc. he’ll be another one to go for big money soon as he’s a total class act so we could easily have a McGinn and Brown CM pairing for 10IAR.

29 May 2018 23:57:26
Aindoh, are you starting the silly season with your post . I don't know whether McGinn is better or worse than all the players listed . Probably better at some aspects of play and maybe not as good as others . Whether I am at the Celtic v Hibs match or watching it on TV or watching Hibs playing another team, I cannot concentrate fully on McGinn all the time and hence can't make a judgement . What media do you follow Mc Ginn to rate him so highly.

30 May 2018 00:07:17
Our biggest problem domestically in the season just past, was too many players asked to play too many games . This may have contributed to some of our long injury list . McGinn would be a good signing to play in the games after Europe for example.

30 May 2018 00:44:23
no reason we can't have both island, there's a lot of games.

30 May 2018 07:52:16
Ed, in your opinion, do you think we'll sign McGinn this Summer? If you had to say yes or no how would you respond? HH.

{Ed007's Note - Yes.}

30 May 2018 22:36:50
Old man Chris I was trying to emphasise, in my own inept way, the ridiculousness of Brendan's post, when he said, McGinn was behind all the players mentioned, I think if we sign him, he will show, in noway is he behind any member of Celtics midfield, it just grates with me when people come out with ridiculous statements like that.
