The headline is deceptive in this story. To me it looks like he's trying to bring down expections and basically tell the hordes that they shouldn't be expecting to challange us. Looks like he's believes 2nd or 3rd is an achievement for them.
Bet that has went down well because they don't like the truth.

He knows the gullibles will believe any positive spin they put out so you can't blame him finishing 2nd or 3rd will be the curve for the next few years.
