Have to agree Ed - fantastic performance- still buzzing. It just shows how the team can perform when required and still a very young team.

{Ed007's Note - We know how they can play but for one reason or another we've only seen glimpses of it this season.}

true Ed. Last night we played as a team and there was a hunger. Still need more from Dembele as he is nothing like his last season player but, overall, we should be going to Russia with a 3 goal lead so their backs will be up for this return game.

{Ed007's Note - The only thing missing from Dembele's game was a goal, otherwise I thought his mobility and fitness looked their sharpest for months and his hold up and link up play was fantastic. Leigh Griffiths couldn't have played the game Dembele did last night.}

Griffith's could have fed of him, though.

{Ed007's Note - That would've left us short in midfield which would have changed the whole complexion of the game. LG would have probably scored at least one of Dembele's chances but he couldn't have played the lone striker role like Moussa done last night. I'd love to see Rodgers come up with a system where LG and Moussa play together but I don't think it's something he'll consider in a strarting team, maybe if we're chasing goals but not first XI.}

Thought dembele had a good game, and played his part in the goal.

McGregor played as a striker when he was on loan in England, when Griffith's was at Hibs, he did an awful lot of work in midfield even though he was a striker, his work rate reminded me of Larson's, would you say Henrik was a midfielder or a striker?, my point is with Dembelle as the main focus of attack, I think you could play either McGregor or Griffith's as a sort of inside forward, midfielder whatever you call it, just think you would get more goals with Griffith's, and a corner kick, free kick, taker aswell.

{Ed007's Note - I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, how would that have worked in the formation and tactics Rodgers employed the other night? Drop Dembele to play McGregor as a striker and play LG in midfield? Henrik Larsson was a striker.}

No I meant play Griffith's, if he had been fit, in McGregors role, whatever description you give to that role, Sutton, Hartson and Dembelle, I would call strikers, Larsonn, Griffith's, McGregor, I would have to think of some other word that describes their best contribution to the team.

{Ed007's Note - You've lost me here. I started saying that LG couldn't have played the game Dembele did against Zenit meaning they are totally different types of players and you're going on about playing LG if he had been fit instead of McGregor. McGregor wouldn't even have been playing if Rogic had been fit and if he had played in the cancelled development game earlier in the week.
And why play players out of position when you don't need to?
Larsson, Sutton, Dembele and LG were/are strikers, McGregor, like Rogic, Lubo and Kris Commons, is an CM/AM or the old fashioned No.10. You're the only person I've ever heard say that Larsson wasn't a striker, so where did he play in MON's 3-5-2 because it certainly wasn't in any of the 3 or 5?}

17 Feb 2018 12:46:15
I meant Larsonn, Griffith's and McGregor were strikers plus, maybe what I am trying to say is try Griffith's in that position that McGregor was playing or Rogic would play, I think he would do well there.

{Ed007's Note - Got you now, you caught me when I was just up there lol I don't think LG could play in there simply because he's far too greedy with the ball, it would be like having Commons back in there with LG always looking to take the shot rather than see other options around him. You'd have your wide players making runs and space only to see LG shooting from 25 yards.}

Agreed, for all commons goals and memories he was and is a greedy selfish self assuring individual, to have his name in the same conversation as Larsson Sutton Hartson even Tommy Rogic is a black Mark on what they left in Celtic fans memories.

Think when I used to see the highlights of when Griffith's was with Hibs, he scored a lot but made a lot aswell, seemed to be a team player rather than a glory hunter, there is only one way to find out.

{Ed007's Note - I won't hold my breath.}
