After reading an earlier thread mentioning Rogic maybe moving on in the summer, what are people's thoughts on this? There was talk of a £10m move to Arsenal a couple of seasons ago but if he was to leave now it's almost impossible to put a price on him or predict what kind of level he'd go to because he's an experienced international with bags of skill who's still not hit his prime BUT he's never managed to stay fit for any decent amount of time. If he does go hopefully it's after an impressive World Cup with Australia.

We don't talk about it as a shadowy rule you lol. Can't stay fit but recent injury aside he had a good spell. There won't be many on here that will slate his talent. If he was an injury free player a bid would of came through by now. I think he is an excellent player and I don't think I'd have the strength to punt him unless we signed players markably better. He just has something. That bit of magic that too few of the squad have. I don't think clubs would bid much more than 5m for him right now which isn't enough. If fit and on a good run we would kick ourselves watching him do his thing in another league. I'm giving another chance to prove his fitness. If he breaks down again a few times before the summer then with a heavy heart ill agree it's best to move him on.

His time is up for me unfortunately. There must be people at the club wondering why we're paying a player who we can only get half a season out of. A fantastic talent, and based on footballing ability he could play at any level. But any club that has been following him will know of his fitness record and will know they are taking a punt on him.

Exactly Jim. He's a terrific player but if we were offered about £3-5 million for him I'd grudgingly take it (assuming he still has time on his contract) . Then again, who's going to take that punt on such an injury prone player?

i would build the team round Rogic, a fit Rogic is the best player we have by a country mile.

I think a lot depends on who we would replace him with. I know he's very injury prone but I think we miss him a lot when he isn't in the team.
The last few weeks have shown to me that we're badly lacking someone who can pick a pass, our build up play has become too slow and predictable.
If we did sell him, I would hope that a good replacement would be brought in, someone who is ready for the first team and not just a prospect for the future.

{Ed007's Note - We've brought in Musonda to replace Rogic and we have McGregor in there too.}

I wouldn’t sell Rogic, he’s an absolute phenomenal talent. let’s just hope he can get an injury free spell. He’s a very special player.

{Ed007's Note - He's in his sixth season with us and has only played 117 games - Scott Sinclair has played 90 times since he joined. Nobody's questioning his talent but his fitness problems are a serious concern and that affects the manager's plans.}

Rogic is another Phil O'Donnell. Bags of talent but spends 75% of his time in the stand. That's no use to anyone who is trying to build a team.

McGreggor couldn't lace Rogic boots in my view. If we get rid of Tom then we need to find a better replacement.

05 Feb 2018 15:00:37
Ed. If we were to sell Rogic we would only have Musonda for a year after he left, and McGregor's form is a bit up and down.
If we have Musonda or Roberts (I know he plays in a different position) longer term then fair enough, but watching us lately we are lacking a bit of creativity. I'm not sure we can replace that with the players we currently have.

{Ed007's Note - So that gives us 18 months to find the money for a Musonda deal or his replacement.}

Kevbhoy, by my reckoning mate, we've spent 4-5m on Rogic in fees and wages and I think the club would be delighted to recoup that.

05 Feb 2018 15:47:27
*whoops, but I'd be pleasantly surprised if we got 5m for as you say, such a gamble.

05 Feb 2018 20:16:44
Never realised rogic has only played that many games ed, a know he was young and raw when he arrived but that's a shocking return given the amount of games we play.

{Ed007's Note - And only 74 of them are league appearances, Steph.}

05 Feb 2018 22:54:12
Safe to say some of them are off the bench or he was subbed after about an hour Ed.

{Ed007's Note - Definitely, Kev.}

I am sure McGregor wouldn't want the responsibility of tying Rogic's laces, as he would have to tie them or untie them around the hour mark .
Rogic disappoints me the most of all our first team squad . He is probably the most gifted and skilled player we have, but at the end of the day is output is moderate . If we could get the work rate of Armstrong or Mc Gregor we would have some player, maybe when returns from injury this time.
