I'm afraid I think many Celtic fans need to take a bit of a reality check regarding signings. I mean when have we ever really signed top class international players at top of their game? The simple fact is they just don't want to come to Scotland and is the reason why we sign up and coming guy's as we are able to give them a decent platform to shine.
Also I was reading that our operating costs have risen from 50mill to 70mill that money has to come from somewhere? Also a few signings that we have made?
Bottom line we are in no debt and winning trophy's . In BR we trust HH 💚.

That should not prevent us from improving. There is thousands of players all across Europe nevermind the rest of the World that can come in and be better than what we have. Paddy Roberts is not a top class international yet is better than anyone in Scotland. There is plenty players out there good enough to come in and make us better it's just having the correct scounting to find them. I couldn't care less if they start for Brazil or don't play internationals at all to be honest.

Paul Lambert would fall into the top class international at top of their game when we signed him.
But I get your point Celtic usually MAKE champions league players instead of buying them.

What would Lambert be worth in todays market. £40m? What a player.

When you look at teams like ajax and feyenord and even anderlecht we should be able to pick up decent young players like Virgil a bit more than we're doing. maybe it's the scouting.

Celtic spending on players should increase according to the money coming in and the profits made, Celtic should be buying at the low end to improve and sell on, and buying quality to mix into the team. Celtic are talking about breaking the six million pound barrier, that's embarrassing, the tic have made the money, now give the fans the players they deserve, we all know its the spl and these players don't want to come, but money talks. BR doing a good job with the players he's getting cheap. if everyone's happy with that model then fair do's. then shareholders will take the money. hail hail. Glasgow derby the night.

Ypf your talking about profit Celtic have made. 6.9 million before tax was all they made last year. Almost every penny the club brings in goes back out. We have over £70 million running costs.

Thanks Kev83, Profit from players, profits from sell on clauses, domestic games and euro revenues.
6.9 mil last year, i think we spent 5 million.
surely in the running cost budget for the following year there is a war chest, or are we still in the biscuit tin.
I understand with big money buys comes big wages and more running cost, but that's today's market and crazy prices's.

we spent more the 5 million on players in the summer.
Ntcham was 4.5 ish
Hayes was around 1.5
We've now spent money on Compper and the bhoy fae st mirren.
We paid a smallish fee for benyu.
People seem to think because the club is selling players and making the champions league that the club is banking 10s of millions when in fact it's around 6 million in a very good year.
The year before it was around the 500 thousand mark.
The club does spend just about what it makes.

Also the manager is getting around 2million a season, I think we spend what we can and if the right player is available to us we will buy them. Does Paddy Roberts actually want to sign for us though I'm not so sure myself I reckon if he did he would have.
