Compper aside we are still going down the "Young with potential" route with Morgan, Hendry, McGinn and the young Aussie, I think we really need to be signing players who are ready for our first team NOW .

Said the sane thing in work today mate.

Just because you told someone something at work doesn't make it right .
If u want talented players, u have to buy young or old . Celtic cannot afford £10m+ for just above average 25 year olds .
Time people woke up to the prices nowadays.

Old man Chris, players like Morgan, and the young Aussie will not get a game for Celtic so they will be out on loan, like Allan and Christie along with about 8 others, so what we are doing is buying players with a view that they may make it in the future but won't improve the team one bit for about 18months or maybe more. Nothing wrong with that, it's a way of developing players for the future and it seems to be part of the business model so with the likes of Kouassi now also going out on loan what Drewzybhoy is pointing out is that we also need to bring players in who can go straight into the first team, and we need 4 or 5 of them.

It's basically just what the big English teams are doing but on a smaller scale as we don't have there money but most eh them don't have our history HAIL HAIL.

Old man I was just saying I said the same thing in work not right or wrong was just thinking we are being linked with future projects when we have plenty here all ready if we sign someone it would imo be someone that will come in and be in the starting 11.

Every time I think about our signing strategy the song Somewhere Over The Rainbow pops into my head.

Everything seems to be done with a view to two, three, four years down the line.

Now I’m all for forward planning. It’s vital, but the salient point of the right now seems to be overlooked, up until now. We shall see if the problems that need fixed now are dealt with.

Our record of taking these projects and turning them into first team regulars is woeful and this causes angst at our continued reliance on this strategy.

The team needs players right now. There are players out there better than what we have that won’t cost £10m+. We need the people who are employed to find them to do just that.

I actually think we will bring in players to go straight into the team this time. I have a feeling that even our board when watching us lately cannot fail to realise what needs to be done now from a position of superiority. Maintaining that superiority won’t happen by wishing for it.

Projects are wish lists. Faith is having belief when evidence does not exist to support it. Re our past wonderkid projects, there is certainly no evidence they deliver.

A combination of what’s needed now and an eye to the future is required. And that needs addressed now.

If you don't think McGinns ready for the first team, you are going to be in for a big surprise, if we sign him.

I think it's fine to build for 3 or 4 years down the line, but that isn't any help in getting us into the Champions league next season, or avoiding some heavy defeats if we get there.
I accept the argument about transfer fees, but I can't believe that it would be impossible to strengthen our team if we really wanted to.
As fans, we have had to endure some awful hammerings in the Champions league, the reward for that is the club makes an awful lot of money out of it.
If we are saying that it is impossible to improve our team with a bit of the money we earn from the Champions league, then why exactly are we trying to qualify for it? .

Is Compper not old enough to play for first team.
