The hammerings are becoming more frequent and although the top teams have all the money and best players we still make far too many basic mistakes and have too many 'invisible men' when the going gets tough. Lustigs injury did have some bearing but Boyata, simunovic and Gordon in particular were culpable, while Rogic and McGregor and Forrest at times found it hard to keep possession or find a teammate.
Broony and ntcham tried their best but we're often outnumbered and outfought.

BR should have improved the defence and goalkeeper in the last window however you can't expect to compete at this level if there is so much fear and panic in the minds of players he the pressures on.
The board has to back the manager, as there is no good banking so much CL profit while the team needs obvious improvement
Watching these horror shows is agony and it must be damaging to our young stars, who go from domestic deities to europes whipping boys on a regular basis and although it's not ideal preparation for our first cup final of the season it could be worse - we could have lost at home to Hamilton or failed to win 3 games in a row?
Hopefully a cup win will set us ip for the Anderlecht game and a chance to gauge how we can compete against a level maybe more suited to our resources and skill? However qualification for Europa will bring a new factor to the season with the Thursday - Sunday curse and more games than last term to contend with to achieve success.

Good and honest post once a boy. We aren't at the races in these big games and our already low stock across Europe's elite will continue to get worse as we have results like this. Additions across the back line definitely needed in January. However, a cup final to look forward to so need to get behind the team big time. HH.

Ouchhhh that was sore. Too good for us.

Said before we can't really judge our euro progress with the big money teams just now . if we beat anderlecht and get to Europa then we will get a better gauge of where we are in euro terms . does that stop us improving the quality of the team especially in the areas where a blind man with a blind dog can tell we need to improve . no . no more squad players best quality we can buy . if we want to just dominate a very poor spl then bank the money . but imo in Jan we need a goalie. an experienced ch (or two) . and if dembele goes a striker.

I agree with most of your post Once a Bhoy but last night I thought Craig Gordon had a good game.
CG is a great shot-stopper but pretty poor when it comes to his distribution and penalty box control.
Yes, he lost seven goals, but the 10 players in front of him were poor and gave too many balls away. As for the goals, It was obvious that PSG saw our right hand side as the weak point and most of those goals involved their attacks built up from there.
Once again, they had players queuing up to have a pop at goal when the ball was deliver from the left into the centre, Could CG have done better? Maybe a couple of times but generally he did what was right.
Broonie had a poor game by his standards and, his goal apart, Dembele spent more time on the left wing than running at them in centre.
But, in fairness, not many teams will live with this PSG group who seemed to attack and defend in packs. Credit where it is due and they played us like an old fiddle.

Some great points made but if we are being realistic the TOP teams can do that to anyone on any given day. PSG (far better team this year) and Barcelona hammered each other in last years tournament and I agree it must be a blow to our confidence but we will never be able to compete with clubs spending £600m on players. that's 20 years Champions League money to us in 1 season! . or 300 years SPFL winners money!

Tiny Gordon should have saved at least 2 of they goals last night.

I did think that gordon was a good shot stopper but he hardly saved any last night and his positioning and reactions are getting worse - not to mention distribution.
I remember two games in particular in the nou camp where David Marshall and Fraser Forster saved us from absolute hammerings against top class teams but we really lack that defensive organisation and quality last line of defence these days.

Gordon isn't good enough. His distribution is woeful most of the time and you just don't feel safe. We need three defenders and a goalie.

Nitcham has been a major failure for me . He isn't the player we hoped for.

This will focus the mind a lesser tanking would have painted over cracks.

It's over to Celtic, these humiliations were set up by making a total fecking arse of getting in defenders in the summer. And it was a total balls up. We didn't even have our best two cb's who aren't good enough and Bitton playing in defence shows you how farcical a situation we are in.

Get it sorted Rogers and if you do our home domination is further cemented.

Just get it done and give us a better chance in the Europa.
