Not often I agree with someone like Gordon parks but he's hit the nail on the head with calling for Lennox town to be renamed after Tommy burns.

Agree2 Disagree0

Do u know I was just thinking the same thing Kev! Parks is an uttter baw bag but I don’t think u’d find many Celtic fans arguing with this suggestion! Tommy was the one who pushed for a proper training ground, and we’re seeing the benefits now with KT McGregor Forrest etc! Would be a fitting tribute to a great Celt and an even greater man!

{Ed007's Note - I've been saying it for years and mention it to JP Taylor anytime I'm speaking to him - wasn't there an online petition started a while back? It's definitely something the fans should concentrate some effort on finally getting done instead of it raising it's head every couple of years then disappearing again.}

Kev83 . I am not so sure T Burns was a wonderful Celtic person and a wonderful person but he didn't bring a lot of successs to our club in terms of titles won .
We have waited a few yrs without renaming Lennoxtown, maybe we should await another few and give it to B Rodgers.

08 Nov 2017 13:30:25
That must be a typo Chris?

08 Nov 2017 13:40:42
Chtis TB was instrumental in the excellent youth programme your seeing just now. We were the first to have our own school of excellence so he's laid the foundations we're reaping the benefits of just now.

08 Nov 2017 14:24:17
Chris is obviously fishing today. Listen to Callum McGregor to tell you how influential TB was on him and his career and the good habits TB tried to install in all the boys he was also a big advocate for us toget our own facility. Parks is a total tadge no matter what he says.

Old man Chris he won 6 titles 4 Scottish cups and a league cup as a player.
He then started the rebuilding process of our team winning the Scottish cup.
He managed at a time when rangers were spending money that wasn't there.
He brought players like cadete piere and Paulo.
He then was the major driving force behind the building of Lennoxtown and our youth system.
Guys like Tierney Calmac and Forrest all rave about how big an influence he is.
Tommy burns should never be judged on title won.
Tommy burns Visions and influence will be felt through our club for more years than we can count.
He helped build our future.

08 Nov 2017 14:44:08
More utter guff from that man chris! We manage to find the right one celtic fan who argue about it! Nonsense once again!

08 Nov 2017 15:02:36
Dear me Chris, check some facts before posting rubbish! Legendary player, great manager up against cheating Minty's millions and a beautiful ambassador for Celtic Football Club.
Lennoxtown should absolutely be named after Tommy Burns and if enough of us petition the club, it has to happen!

08 Nov 2017 16:28:09
No that is Old man at his best or should be simply the best OMC?

In my eyes there has never been a greater Celt than TB, better players sure but never a better Celt

As Ed said it has been widely touched on here he even has the picture picked out the statue should be based on and so do I (Y)

08 Nov 2017 19:31:23
Baffling bit for me is chris isn't sure he's even a decent man my god its not up for debate.

08 Nov 2017 20:51:08
Chris, Tommy Burns dedicated most of his life to Celtic as player and manager, I think it would be a great way to honour him and the work he did with the younger players if Lennoxtown was named after him.
If Brendan Rodgers continues with the success he's having at the moment, I'm sure we would be able to find an appropriate way to honour him as well.
There is room for many legends at Celtic.

08 Nov 2017 21:25:30
Talking about rogers it was burns that set him on his path that has led to paradise.

08 Nov 2017 21:33:40
I don’t usually stick up for chris but I’m quite sure his original post was a typo! His point was tommy was a wonderful Celtic man and man in general. think his point was that Tommy wasn’t successful enough to be considered, which I cannot agree with! But to me naming the training centre after Tommy is more than just what he achieved on the pitch or in the dugout! Tommy to me was everything I love about the club, a man who loved Celtic just as much as any of us on here! The work he put in from player to manager to coach Was all for the love of the club! He’s a symbol of what it means to support our great club and I think this would be a fitting tribute to his legacy!

In the modern celtic era I honestly think that it's not OTT to compare Tommy to our founder Brother Walfrid in the sense that both were men with strong faiths, charitable to the core and quite simply ingrained in celtic folklore. The outpouring of grief when Tommy died speaks for itself. Old man Chris so wrong with your comments.

09 Nov 2017 08:31:29
I think it should be renamed as a monument to Ronnie.

09 Nov 2017 08:33:07
A think Chris might have missed a coma. Funny how it changes the meaning of a sentence.

09 Nov 2017 08:35:44
Guys this is simple as it stands we call it Lennoxtown due to the area it’s in: it should be called

The Tommy Burns Training Academy.

09 Nov 2017 08:37:35
TB was so humble a man he probably would be embarrassed if it was named after him, but i think it would be a great honour to name it after him, i had the pleasure of meeting him as a youngster when he came to our local chapel hall he chatted away for ages to me because i told him my mum was brought up in the same street as him in the east end of glasgow.

09 Nov 2017 08:38:14
Tommy Burns - legend.

09 Nov 2017 10:40:28
Superb WB, that would bring a tear to a glass eye! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🍀🍀🍀.

10 Nov 2017 01:31:17
Stephbhoy . You are right, thank you .

I repeat, I think T Burns was a wonderful person and a wonderful Celtic person.
