Ed great news as it looks like Paddy will be returning next season on loan but I'm must admit I'm slightly disappointed we could not get him on a permanent deal. While I've no doubt he could make an impact at city next season I really don't see him having a future there especially with the money they throw about. We also face the possibility of having to replace Roberts, Armstrong and Dembele next summer. Do you think they're a possibility of loan to buy Ed?

{Ed007's Note - No.}

Totally agree about Roberts loan deal again really when did CELTIC FC become nursery club for small rich owned efl clubs. Should have been permanent deal or tell them to do one.

£2.75 million for a year is a big layout for a 1 year loan.

Ed how much have we paid to Man City to get him for a season. Any idea how much of his wages we are paying?

{Ed007's Note - I've no idea.}

This is how you get a player of a higher level that is or would normally be outwith celtics reach and we are lucky paddy gets what it feels to be celtic? If it does get concluded then I will be very happy with the club's 2.75 million outlay as it's a guaranteed quality signing not a risk at all. Looks like it's going to be another fun season ahead bhoys 😀🍀🏆.

Club not showing any ambition with the the two deals announced today . All this money from CL and still we won't let this giant of a club grow and be we're it deserves. Last 16 possibiy last 8 depending on a bit of luck in draw.

no ambition? imo roberts and armstrong signing were a must albeit loan and short term the make up of last seasons squad is still together add to that the addition of ntcham, the emergence of ralston this season i think will be a big one. For me a centre half and a 3rd striker and ill be a happy bhoy.

Come on minto11, he's already been with us 18 months and been excellent. We know exactly what we are getting regardless of loan status he will be even better this year and develop further under Rogers within a developing team at an exciting time for them.

Roberts is not your average loan and I don't think it says anything about the club that people don't already know in terms of finance - bottom of EPL get 6 or 7 times what we get as champions. Never king the additional share of tv deal.

The key this summer was to keep our best players and attempt to add a bit of quality to up the ante in CL Group. In different worlds, we are a bit like Spurs and getting genuine quality to improve isn't easy especially when you are trying to get value. Some people are going off their nut that we haven't signed x or y position or player but what is the point if our best can raise their game a bit more then that moves replacing say Dembele into a whole other bracket.

If Tierney leaves in the next coupl of years we are not replacing him as he is genuinely one of the best LB in the game. I'm not saying Roberts is the attacking equivalent but he cost city 12m+ at the age when Tierney broke into our team - we can't pay that but just think how great it is that we produced that.

There are a lot of good players being hoarded by big clubs and I think the only difference between Ntcham and Roberts is that Roberts was determined to get a chance and prove his worth to Guardiola. Ntcham was ready to leave to continue playing first team football and we look like we've got a bargain but if he continues to play like the other night then I'd have taken an 18 month loan for him. If can't produce it we know we can develop it so 2 year loans or buy back clauses are decent (not perfect) for us.

Delighted Roberts is coming just think 2.5 million a lot to pay. Man City only paid Fulham 6 million up front the rest was add ins which won't be met. Just would have liked him to sign full time instead of clinging on to something that won't happen for him at city.

We only need to ask KT to ask.

That's a good post ATB. I know the window isn't shut yet but I am hoping we get through it with last year's squad intact. I was questioning the logic of the SA deal earlier but on reflection the positive outcome is that we have continuity for the first time in years. We have kept our best players and added some quality reinforcements. When all's said and done that is what we have all being crying out for.
