This may be a simplistic view but why don't Celtic make their best effort to sign Paddy Roberts. If it succeeds then get it done. If it doesn't then draw a line under it and move on. All this faffing around is a right pain in the arse. I know there are probably more strings to a deal than most of us know but for fekk sake, it can't be rocket science. It's either a yes or a no. they are too busy fannying about trying to sign him on a cheap loan at the last minute again instead of using some of that absolute fortune they are sitting on and showing a bit of ambition by signing the boy on a permanent deal with a decent top players wage.

You could be right james, I'd be well pissed off it that were true. HH.

Jamrsbhoy that is not the case. Man City want to sell him for £12 mill. No one wants to pay that. So Man City want him to go to a Prem leavue club do well and then they will get £12_£15 mill next season. He has 3 years left on his Man City contract. They can lend him out with all his wages paid. Its nothing to do with Celtic not paying the money. Is Paddy worth £12 mill to Celtic? The answer is we don't pay that for a player. Too much for us. Now if paddy goes on loan he has a say on whete he goes so it is up to him if he comes to us or not. My fedling is he will go to an EPL side.

Lads

Very similar situation to some of our own young players.

Henderson away to Hibs, loved it, struck up a great friendship with McGinn, won the cup with them and expected to push on with us last season.

Paddy clearly thinks he has what it takes to make it at City.

Maybe we've done all we can but the player wants to assess all his options before deciding where his future lies? People are always so quick to have a go at the club but CD said today we're in "constant contact" with City so maybe there's nothing more Celtic can do until squads have been finalised and qualifiers are finished etc.

When you look at the crazy money being paid for players with a lot less talent than Paddy has, I think you are deluding yourselves if you think City would let him go for 12 million or even 20 million, and Paddy might have had a good time in Glasgow, but he knows he can make (I am loathe to say earn) , mega bucks down south, and so it will be untill Jeremy ( blessed be his name) , gets elected and puts a 90% tax rate on anyone making more than £100,000, a year, so my maths are not very good, so if you make £10,000,a week, that's over half a million a year, so you get to keep the first 100,000,then you get taxed at 90% on the rest, so that leaves you with another £40,000,so hey ho, you get £140,000,a year, that should be enough to buy your milk and bread and other essentials, so every one is happy, because the tax money will be used to get rid of the food banks, pay for more nurses and teachers and police and dustbin men, and fishery protection vessels when Scotland gets its independence from England and Europe.

What the ****?

Ever think maybe paddy wants to see if we are in champions league?

08 Aug 2017 00:16:25
hes nowhere near worth 12m, city will be happy to get 6m for him, celtic are sitting on a fortune and afford the deal no problem, its amazing the amount of panty wetters on here the minute anyone criticises this penny pinching board who's lack of ambition has held us back for a number of years on the european stage.

all this talk that he signed for 12 mill is bollocks, that was what fulham would recieve via clauses etc, think city paid about 4 up front, his wage is 25 k, he loves celtic, and tierneys his best mate, every chance that he will come back, who stole the sugar from your doughnut jonny?

{Ed001's Note - I actually think they paid about £13.5m in order to remove any potential sell on clauses.}

08 Aug 2017 10:29:08
theyve paid 13.5 up front Ed?

{Ed001's Note - transfer fees are not paid up front, that is the fee that was lodged with UEFA's TMS, it may well end up more with add ons in the future, but that is the amount they will pay for him over the period the transfer fee was agreed to be paid. Usually a couple of years, though City have pushed some transfers through simply by paying up front the full amount in the past.

In simple terms, that is the amount he has cost the club.}

Fair Enough Ed, tbh i've read about it numerous times that it was 4 up front but you seem to be in the know, Do you think we have a chance of getting him? . PS cheers for pissing on ma bonfire ;)

{Ed001's Note - it was probably the initial payment, according to TMS it was about £13.5m though. Pep doesn't think he is good enough, so the lad is available. Obviously the price is an issue, but the lad himself had a lot of good things to say about Celtic, so I couldn't rule it out. However I really can't see Celtic stumping up the money to buy him, so maybe another loan could be an option?}
