I see Stan petrov talking about Armstrong and how impressed be is with him. Does anyone else think he is turning into a very similar player to Stan himself? Can't pay him a bigger compliment than that as that is what I see. If you remember Stan struggled at first and went on to being a mainstay in our team

Agree8 Disagree0

Wasnt petrov not played at ch to start with mate

I said that after the rangers game.
Stan was a master of the late runs into the box and Armstrong is starting to do that really well

Always thought Armstrong was a great player at United, very well documented about him being played out of position last season but other big difference seems to be BR's emphasis on players putting on muscle. Not only great for their overall physicality but brilliant for fitness and injury prevention. Him and Brown building amazing partnership, and while SA was found wanting in some of the European games, his performance against Barcelona was, imo outstanding. Another player like MD, Kieran, Jozo and Erik who looks like they can go on to even greater heights.
Good times :)

Marty-I agree and think Armstrong has the potential to be as good as Stan was and I can't think of a better box to box midfielder we've had than Petrov in recent years. And spot on-he struggled at first as well. Phil O'Donnell had some engine too but was injury prone. I forgot until watching old footage recently how good Lambert was for Celtic. Lubo must be one of the most gifted midfiefders we've had and still don't know what foot he kicked with! Different type of player but for combining ability to put his foot on the ball and control the game with defense splitting passing and being as hard as nails McStay is still a stand out for me and would have bled green and white. Wonder what the Maestro would be worth in today's market 🍀

Bang on marty and think petrov is right although Armstrong still has a bit more to go to be in petrov class.
Based on his recent performances tho I think he can get there.

It's a shame we didn't have the midfield we have now in the CL group stage.

Hink it was Barnes that had petrov at right back his first season, he was only 19 or somethin aswell which never helped. A can always mind ma mate saying to me he was a player that year, n a was saying no chance. He's always had that over me the big prick.

Need shot of Biton Tick67 he gives us nothing 🍀

Stephbhoy-ma big mate said to me before we signed Henrik-'Wait to you see this guy-what a player'. I hadn't even heard of him. When he gave the baw away tae Charnley on day one I said to him-'Aye, he feckn looks it! ' Man have I not lived that comment down to this day. In the next 7 seasons I can hardly remember him giving the feckn ball away again! 🍀

{Ed007's Note - I don't know why your mate thought that, Larsson's time at Feyenoord was far from spectacular (42 goals in 149 matches over 4 seasons and rarely playing for 90 mins) and most people only knew him from the 1994 World Cup because of his hair. The Feyenoord support at the time were indifferent to him leaving and some were even glad as he wasn't seen as anything special by them.
Next time he brings it up tell him he was just lucky with his guess ;-)

I'm with you on the biton situation jfp

my mate used to slag big bad john off all the time when he struggled for early game time. I was always in his corner, therefore I've always had that over him!

Armstrong reminds me of Paul lambert (my personal favourite midfielder) crossed with Stan the man, not a bad combo.

Got to say about Armstrong, my thoughts are he is our captain in waiting, yes I think he is that good and maintaining his confidence he will be more vocal.

The way he's going the now cprs1 av got no doubts he's browns successor. A hope no bids come in for him in the summer if he keeps improving but he's a clever lad n he'll know the grass isn't always greener. It's a nice position to be in worrying about bids coming in for our players, much better than hoping for bids like the other side of the city. The grass is definitely greener over here.
