Curiosity question . if a player is on loan at a club for 18 month (or any length) can another club then buy him from his parent club during a transfer window.

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

Thanks .

So yes anyone can buy PR. I assume that's where the question was directed.

No it wasnt shug. . it came from seeing the amount of players on loan from chelsea playing around eorope who with Chelsea spending policy will probably never play for them . I also think roberts will go back to city and within a year be at a midtable epl club.

think you can buy a player on loan but said player still needs to complete loan, so if PR was bought in jan, we would still have him till end of season, Eds should be able to clear that up.

{Ed001's Note - no, the loan contract can be ended early and the player transferred elsewhere.}

cheers Ed, has it always been that way or has rules changed?, i seem to remember the same discussions when we had guidetti?

{Ed001's Note - always been that way. It is just that there are issues with selling a player on loan, as you have to come to an agreement with the club who have a contract to loan him, as well as the buying club. It does happen, but rarely. Usually it is when a player is struggling on his loan spell, or the club loaning the player in needs money and they are offered compensation by the selling club.}

Cheers Ed.

{Ed001's Note - some clubs do put a clause in the loan contract regarding a compensation package in the case of a sale during the loan. Not so sure if City are one of those though, as they had no intention of selling him when they sent him out to you on loan.}

I also think it depends on what the contract is. Casting my mind back to Deila's first season, we had Guidetti on loan and I know there was something in that contract that prevented someone buying him until the loan period was finished.
