Armstrong he's totally focused on playing for Celtic.

Armstrong and broony are like 2 new quality signings, too often brown was made the scapegoat during Ronnie's tenure. Team are playing great, scoring goals and are easy on the eye. 2 trophies in the bag, a few bob that pistol Pete will hopefully give to the manager, keep the rest of them looking at us disappear into the distance and enjoy it for years to come. Mon the Hoops.

You have to admit thou, Brown was just going through the motions until BR arrived. He was on a few "need to sell" lists
It hard to fathom the difference management has meant to what I would have considered ok squad players last season.

{Ed007's Note - Leigh Griffiths, Kieran Tirney, working on getting Rogic fit etc All things RD done. I noticed there wasn't the usual posts about managers and coaches when Brendan Rodgers spoke on Wednesday (I think it was) about fitness, commitment and living your life 24/7 the right away for a professional footballer. Our previous manager was saying the same things and getting laughed at - yet one of the things Rodgers and his team have been impressed with is the sports science department that RD overhauled.
If you think Ridgers doesn't believe in the same principles just listen to his quotes from his first meeting with Scott Brown when they had dinner together.
Who said this:
""The thing I tried to reinforce with him over that first meal was lifestyle. It's 24 hours a day. If you want to be the very best –an elite player – and to maximise your talent – it’s 24 hours a day lifestyle."

All good and fine sir but Deila being a nice man was a "laptop man". Maybe there are smarter men about than us that decided that this is the root, we need a scapegoat with great ideas, sow the seeds, hang him out to dry, bring in someone, the same but different, . I don't know . BR wasn't my first choice. I would have went for Koeman. He wasn't an option so I would have went with Keane with what was been offered.

Keane; dodged a bullet there never a manager loved him as a player but that's it.

The difference from last year to this year is night and day.

There was an event within the SMSM that did everything in their power to undermine Deila and got away with it because Deila was not a household name. On top of that, there was an element within our support who followed like sheep, unable to form an informed opinion of their own. In the end the SMSM propaganda became a self fulfilling prophecy and Deila started to slowly lose the dressing room and fans. In the end the pressure became too much for him and there was no way back.

As you rightly point out Ed, the same protagonists are not ridiculing Rodgers, despite saying the exact same things Deila was ridiculed for saying. The reason they are not doing it to Rodgers is that they know it won't wash because he is a household name.

Rabmac, there are still 'supporters' of our team, supposedly anyway, who still bash Rd at any point despite constantly being put in their place by Ed n a few others n still come out with utter crap. Rd won us 4 and 5 in a row n whatever anybody says his legacy will always be part of 10 in a row, bet that stings a few haha.
Won't go over old ground as there's clearly a few on here who forget everything that is said but with a limited budget, poor backroom staff, average players, no support from the board n commons he still did a great job.

Add to that the media attacking him, as well as so called 'supporters', Despite winning trophies, funnily enough something the golden boy pep warbiola can't do yeh they suck up his arse something awful, we won 3 trophies over rd's time n his methods r the same as Brendan's about being an athlete as Ed said yet he was laughed at on here by some n in media etc all because commons didn't want to lose weight n others clearly didn't want to be the best athlete n football player they can be, now everyone's falling over themselves to do it.

Scotland is an embarrassment for that kind of thinking, we r way behind n Rd brought us out of the dark ages n I'm eternally grateful for everything he did n back every Celtic manager to the hilt, same as the players so long as they play for the jersey, play for the fans.
Hail hail.

Great post bigshaw.

Great point there Ed007 (clap) . BR would have had a lot more to do, had it not been for the work RD was doing in bringing our club up to speed. I was also saying to a mate the other week after the BMG away game, that the way we now approach opponents in Europe, was actually started under RD as well. That we don't just hit the long ball, hope for a set-piece etc. It's just a shame RD wasn't celtic minded, there are too many dinosaurs and bangers around, just look at some of the embarrassing damnations already of somebody like Cathro. I was still confident under RD that the players we already had, and still play, would come on a level. Like I always harped on, his ideas take time. I'm taking nothing away from BR and what he's done so far, but RD made it a heck of an easier job, and dare I say it, we're actually reaping some of the benefits of his work. BR has been allowed to be a proper manager though. I'm still a bit indignant RD wasn't given that licence, but we're in good hands now, with BR and his licence to thrill.

RD's time came too soon for him (imo) Ed. I liked the guy and his ideas were spot on. He was just not ready and strong enough when the chance came. Your post is spot on about no real difference in philosophy and attitude. BR comes with more credibility having managed a big club in PL. (not saying any better but facts are facts)
One thing I will say is that BR seems to have a Plan B and C when Plan A is not working. RD never struck me as having anything other than Plan A. He would change players but Plan A was still on the park.

It saddens me reading in my view over the top slagging if RD. He did his best, he contributed two titles, he brought players we are now raving about.

In the end he didn't inspire those players to progress in a way Rogers has.

He was a good man and he gave his all. I'm suck if Sytton continually running him down. It's effin boring now.

For me RD will be remembered as a man who helped Rogers be a success. I won't forget that and I wish Ronnie well.
