I have been reading through more of the reactions and justifiable disappointment at the Barcelona result with some advice thrown in on how we should have played it.

I think I missed the rocket to whatever planet some of the rationale comes from.

Here is how I viewed it.

Last year we were awful, weak and humiliated ourselves against the rangers.

Before a baw was kicked and before BR came in, you would need to be in line for a cuddily jaikit if you thought we would qualify for the CL.

We did.

We are playing much better, we have much to do but we are going in the right direction.

How long since we have felt that?

We are about to bag £20m plus to invest and take us another notch up. I thing BR will do that.

We avenged with interest the defeat in April. We shot down the hot air balloon that is the msm rangers pr SS Delusional.

They are fighting among themselves in the dressing room. They are calling for investment that doesn't exist. A couple of bad results and the Tragic Hat is hounded.

We got our baws parted by the best team ever. Get over it. A team that best Madrid 5.0 only managed two more against a club that last year looked so far away from being able to qualify as I did from taking over from Harry Styles in One Direction. Probably further.

We need to screw the nut and realise that in order to move up a level requires CL money and the ability this gives us in recruitment. The flip side of this is we will take a few tankings in the meantime until we move up that notch.

To expect us to stand up to Barcelona when they click into gear is nuts.

£20 odd million invested wisely will mean an ever improving team. The knowledge of that makes me realise the pain is not only worth it, but an inescapable consequence of moving into the big pond.

Let's buy bigger and better fish to deal with it.

A couple of sharks would be nice.

Excellent post magic couldn't agree more as long as we improve again in the January window with a view to next season.

That's all fair enough MP. Do you think we'll see the best part of 30m spent in jan or early next summer though?

16 Sep 2016 12:16:50
That sum has to include any wages so I would hope about £10-15m between now and next years CL qualification.

I know where you are coming from though and
agree we always seem to await a total humiliation before the board acts as if it gives a fox.

Caley thistle, MON

THE Rangers BR

Would I be surprised if they didn't invest it in players to keep us moving forward?

I'm a celtic, of course I wouldn't.

Let's hope that with BR on board their natural inclination to go backwards is reversed.

I think you summed it up all very nicely MP with your own inimitable charm

id rather pumped with 20mil that having 24 highly paid players having a Tue/ Wed night off to watch Corrie.

Agree with OP, one question though MP, why does the £30M need to include wages?
When is the billionaire going to invest a bit of additional cash each year?

16 Sep 2016 13:39:26
It's tough to take, but, what's harder us the feeling that we are going nowhere and accepting it.

As I said I haven't felt like this since mon. I also don't go overboard because we improve to think we should expect to out a fight up against the best team ever .

That just doesn't happen.

The test the players have is trying to prevent cricket scores off Barcelona and city and trying to outdo a good Bundesliga team.

Easier to write than achieve.

Realistically that is a big jump. But, at least we are there.

The old adage of the bigger they are the harder they fall is an extremely rare occurrence.

It's usually the bigger they are the harder they hit you.

By getting stronger with the extra cash will
Hopefully mean we might not beat them but we can throw a couple of dull yins to make them at least be rightfully wary.

I decided to give it another week. If they don't call, that can't Barlow better think about asking Simon fir his old X Factor joab back.

Cant that he is.

I think that we would better become realistic and realise £20m old investment would make really very little difference, if we were to be playing a fully rested and geared up Barcalona team . Maybe £40 m each yr for 5 yrs and doubling our wage bill twice may give us a chance against them, if manager gets the correct formation and every one plays out of their skin .
It's unrealistic to think we can invest as much, so I think we can do our best beat lesser lights in Europe and forget about getting scalps like Barca.

its not simply spending and paying big wages Old Bhoy.

VDV, foster, wanyama, Ki, Hooper, et al just can't wait for agents to call and say "the team 18th in the E&WPL want you. "

we are a Massive Whale in a wee puddle and things ain't going to change any time soon.

17 Sep 2016 10:24:34
I think we would all agree that the team is better having spent £5m, so I am confident £20m would enhance it further.

Does that take us into the top flight? No, but it moved us away from the bottom a wee but and being realistic and realising we are in the 'not a pot to piss in' section, at least we are moving in the right direction.

I haven't felt that for years. I like that.

Barcelona are a team that will annihilate teams far better than us. It clearly showed they are fitter and stronger on top of a skill gap that is as wide as the Clyde. At it's widest part.

I do wonder what their fans moan about on their boards? Different planet and for someone who loves the cut of their jib that's ok by me.

What can Celtic Football Club do Digbanger?
I agree any player whom we improve are first told my the SMSM they are too good for the SPFL
Whether that helps to make up their minds or not, players seek transfer .
No point in Celtic keeping unhappy player.
