Re CDM, we bought Ajer, club captain at Start in Norway, obvious leadership qualities, good physique. Let's get this lad into the team now that we have qualified for CL group. When Vic Wanyama signed, he couldn't get a game, which lead fans to think 'he must be crap'. Weeks, if not a month or so down the line when he does play, we are all asking why he wasn't playing before!
By next week, hopefully, the squad has been trimmed to include those players that are here for a while, can make a difference and which the spine of the team can be built around.

he's not crap but barely turned 18, he's for the future.

when is this 'future' we all talk about going to be the 'present'

If he is good enough, then he is old enough, but there been an awful lot of hype about the lad and very little substance, being captain of Start (who they) , doesn't mean didly, let him play in some spl games first to see if the hype is justified.

It doesn't mean didly at all though aindoh does it? To be a captain demonstrates a good knowledge/ reading of the game, leadership qualities, understanding your own teams tactics, and often a respect or likeability amongst a group. For somebody who was 17 that ain't bad going at all I'd say. Plus, I wonder how many Norwegians rate the SPFL. But it is just promise, and just now we have better players ahead of him. The lad needs games, and if he doesn't get them we need to loan him straight out come jan.

So you want to sign him n throw into the lions away at the nou camp for everyone to say he's not good enough? Not many 18 year olds are signed for a starting 11 place. As Jim says we can probably afford to give him a few games in the league but to put the pressure on him to play in our midfield in that group is unfair and unrealistic.

I'd love to same him get some game time over the next few months. But do we really want to throw him in, to have a bad game, and him to turn into the scapegoat of de jour?

If we are going to start blooding in youngsters, then the fans need to start showing a lot more patience towards them, and not get on their back after a mistake or two. They are young and learning.

Needs to fill out a bit and he will be like Wanyama.

As the fixture list builds up, domestic games after Europe and cups, half an hour here and there during other games, there will be opportunities for him. He's very young, different league, living in a new country. There's just no patience at times.

To clarify re Ajer, Brendan was always going to play experience and seasoned campaigners attempting to qualify for CL group stages. With that and a hand injury his game time has been light. Now that we have achieved a main aim, I personally am looking to see what this lad can do in that CDM position. Rightly as many suggest that will be in league games and unlikely (at this time) in CL. However, and using big Vic as an example, we may just be pleasantly surprised at how he performs. Time will tell.

If anyone still has the friendly against Barcelona recorded from Dublin, watch him verbally man manage a few of our players during the first half. Communication, organisation and a physical presence.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.
